You see Bethesda has jumped on the "Life style" marketing. Most "nerds" know everything about Fallout and Skyrim it's pretty much embedded. So Beth capitalizes it and sells it with "hey gamer gurls and gaymer guys, look at our new awesome RPG" And they shill on Twitch, Youtube etc.

It's why car commercials are very profitable. When you see a Cadillac, most people associate it with luxury. People want luxury.

And right now people wanna be nerds cause it's cool right now.

Bethesda is actually hated a lot lately. They had success with Skyrim but now most people opened their eyes on them.

Nintendo actually has a good marketing campaign, and makes good and enjoyable games, unlike most devs nowadays, the one problem people have with nintendo is the power of their consoles, but many think that they actually don't want to be compared to PC like the PS4 and XBox one consoles, which had worse specs than an average PC on release.

After TW3 and BOTW Bethesda realized there are many things they do wrong, be it in terms of design or technology. I believe they are currently working hard on improving their engine or even better, work on a better engine.

Todd himself is well aware of technical limitations from the gamebryo engine and realized that they need to work more on the open world design and story telling.

Anyway, if the next TES is dumbed down any further I'm done with bethesda

Basically how this works is that you have to buy a currency by real money and pay with it for shitty mods like Link armor with textures made in MS Paint. Look at BotW, I am agreeing that the game is overrated, but it's still a unique experience, and I can only give myself as an example here, but as someone who didn't play any other zelda game before, the first 80 hours of this game for me were aweinspiring and I am thinking of getting an emulator to play the other games.

Same here. I like each for different reasons and have sunk hundreds of hours into each one. They all have their ups and downs, some more than others but it doesn't really take away from how much I play them.
