REmake

4

remake is horror perfection, 4 is a clunky tps and not scary

REmake

RE4 but I like both.

>Near perfect pacing
>Great atmosphere
>Fun puzzles
>God tier macro level design
>Jill
REmake isn't only the best Resident Evil game but it is the best game of all time.

REmake but I still liked 4

4

4 was the best for me. Made me feel like a true badass

RE4 is so good that every single game after it (excluding 7) tried to be just like it but failed very badly. Re4 is the perfect over the shoulder action/horror/resident evil video game ever created.

I don't like the way 4 plays

no -- best game ever made is EDF 4.1

Easy, REmake

REmake

RE6 was nothing like 5 either. 5 was just coop, play with a SO/friend, RE4. If you liked 4 and hated 5 you are autistic at best.

Finished Resident Evil 7 last night. I Never beat the original when I had my playstation, is it worth?

...

you just missed it on steam for $10 during the summer sale

it's one of the best horror games of all time

REmake. Gorgeous graphics, tru horror, and uses the proper lovable tank controls we all know and love.

Make a poll next time dirtbag

>If you liked 4 and hated 5 you are autistic at best.

5 is 4 with awful level design and pacing so no.

>awful level design and pacing so no.
It's an 'user forgets the island exists' episode.

Impossible. They're the standard of perfection for their own respective types of games.

RE4 gets worse as time goes on but I look back on RE5 and there was maybe a half hour's worth of gameplay I recall actually enjoying. I actually got tired of shooting things before the caves section, it was so damn monotonous.

If the OP had posted this picture you would be right.

I could only stand about half a minute before I ultimately cringed.

>cringed
no taste

REmake

RE1's voice acting is classic, m8.

should I play as jill or chris for my first time? does it matter?

Jill is probably best for a first time play through, she gets a lock pick and more inventory slots and doesn't need Rebecca to do everything but she's not as good with weaponry and has less health.

REmake is definitely the best RE game, while 4 is the only good notRE RE, if you know what I mean.

>can play as RE3 Jill in UMvC3
>she still has Wesker's device on her chest
>she still attacks with karate chops and somersaults
Fuck

>4 is the only good notRE RE
5 is good
revelations is serviceable
7 is pretty good

>Jill hasn't been in an RE game since 5
Fuck.

Play Jill if it is your first time playing; you get more inventory slots, you don't have to rely on Rebecca all the time, and the fact that you have less health than Chris means you immediately have to get used to the idea of dodging Zombies rather than fighting them.

Also, you get Barry helping you, who is a top tier character.

She was the protagonist of Revelations.

Why did Jill turn into such a hoochie? She used to be cute.

>Revelations
>ORC

I really liked Revelations but I think even RE6 is better than RE5.

RE4 is hella addictive but its combat mechanics are ridiculous, and combat is pretty much all it has to it. It was a lot of fun back then but in retrospective it's not as perfect as I used to think it was.

REmake IS pure perfection. Holy fuck I adore that game

I'm willing to bet money she was the cunty coworker.

>Barry always comes out of literally nowhere to bail you out multiple times
Fucking based.

I'll take 4 because we at least got plenty of other games like REmake.

RE1 > REmake

Just saying...

>RE1 > REmake
explain your reasoning now please

This. The QTE's were also much more obnoxious in RE5 co-op because it would trade between players and if one fails both fail.

Are there any other 3D games besides Metroid Prime and Dark Souls that have god tier interconnected world design like 2D Metroidvanias?

REmake was the only game in the series that really ever had that.

>nostalgia
>voice acting
>colorful
>live action scenes

4 is the best and always will be.
Still has tank controls but doesn't feel outdated as fuck.
Isn't overly actiony like 5 and 6.
Isn't a bullshit first person shooter that feels like a generic horror game.

>RE1 > REmake
if there ever was one OBJECTIVELY wrong opinion about anything this is it.

arkham asylum is very compact but feels like a metroidvania

5 was ok at most. And 7 is the least RE game of them all.

>And 7 is the least RE game of them all.
just like 4 was on release

Had it flowed properly the first Revelations would've had something like that with the Queen Zenobia, and it becomes apparent when you play the final Raid Mode mission which allows you to explore the ship freely. The level design was there but the narrative sequencing took zero advantage of it.

...

You say this as though games like RE5, Revelations 1, The Evil Within, and the Dead Space series in general doesn't exist.

Well first of all I don't have to explain shit. Although I'll explain anyways since I still like both games.

>prefer the voice funny acting of 1
>RE1 is the original game not REmake
>RE1 feels more like the original games
>RE1 is a more difficult game, not by much but still
>RE1 feels a bit faster, could just be me
>RE1 has better atmosphere imo

REmake is fantastic sure but the original is the original. It is one of the first games I've ever seen/played on PS1. Might even have been the first. So yeah a lot of it is nostalgia, big deal.

And that's why 4 is the best, while 7 is the worst. You can't even call that Resident Evil with a straight face. It's just brand whoring at its finest, it's the Final Fantasy of horror games.

All inferior to RE4. Even Dead Space. Sure it has better gameplay but the environment is the same shit the whole game, not much boss variety and the story and characters do not compare. Plus it isn't even that scary.

>le "it's not RE because it's first-person" meme

>Evil Within
>Inferior to RE4
As someone who has beaten TEW on Akumu multiple times I can assure you TEW is better because it remembered the 'survival' part of 'survival horror'.

>All inferior to RE4.

Irrelevant. Games like RE4 do indeed exist is the point I was making. Going around saying things like
>I'll take 4 because we at least got plenty of other games like REmake.
as if RE4 clones don't exist is disingenuous. It can very easily be argued that no survival horror game equals REmake, does that suddenly mean no clones of it exist?

RE:4
REmake was pretty good, but it doesn't completely alleviate a lot of the problems with gaming during that time period. Mostly the ridiculous amount of backtracking and the loading screens (while a clever way to circumvent traditional loading back in the day, it's just tedious seeing the door every time these days) at least they got rid of the stair loading screen.
RE:4 is still irritating in that you can't move while aiming, which was fine back then, but 3rd person shooting controls are much better now. Dead Space for example is a great step up (mechanically) from RE:4

>fast-paced third person action game where you shoot mexicans with chainsaws and kick their heads so hard that they explode
you can't call 4 resident evil with a straight face, it's brand whoring, just because it has leon they try to call it RE

I pick RE5.

>Mostly the ridiculous amount of backtracking
Wtf I hate Super Metroid now.

7 is more of a Resident Evil game than 4.

>RE3
>ammo conservation

I meant in the same series of games. Since this is a RE thread. It is you who thought I ever said otherwise.

the best horror game in existence vs a 3rd person shooter with a Leon skin

>isn't that scary
Scarier than RE4 at least, which wasn't scary at all because you always felt like a badass

There's a limit on the things you can change before a game can no longer be considered part of a franchise. 4 is walking the line, 5 is slightly over it, 6 is far from it, but at 7 you can't even see the damn line anymore.

REmake also kept Chris with the 6 item slots. What kind of fucking stupid shit was that?

Chris is supposed to be challenging.

>jiggle jill 2
>2
Post the others.

>I meant in the same series of games.

So RE5 and the Revelations games, then.

>jump scare
Okay spooked
>jump scare
Again? Only mildly spooked this time
>jump scare
Come on Dead Space this is getting ridiculous now.
>jump scare
.................
>jump scare
-_-

>Has Rebecca do most challenging puzzles
>Challenging
Almonds are getting activated.

>the best horror game in existence
Silly user, that webm isn't of Silent Hill 2.

His game is easier than Jill. He takes more damage and gets tons of shotgun ammo. Plus Rebeca heals him.

"RE"7 is not RE because of way more reasons than becoming a bland FPS game.

5 didn't have the suitcase. Your argument is invalid.

>play REmake because free on PS+
>choose normal difficulty
>finish the game
>trophy "easy difficulty"
u wot m8?

>Silent Hill 2

Come on now, at least go with 1. 2 is thematically interesting but it has the least teeth of the classic SH trilogy.

5 had the boulder.
youtube.com/watch?v=4xuXkVzBdJQ

...and they are...?

Again, better than 4 which had nothing.

Maybe you could argue that one part with regenerators but you were already over-equipped at that point that you could kill them without the heat scope.

SH2 is by far the most memorably and most interesting. It arguably has the best atmosphere (between it and 3) and didn't follow the generic "cult" shit that they usually went with. I also like that the protagonist is someone that you find out deserves what's happening and that you lose your sympathy for him as the game progresses, was a breath of fresh-air.

>Less health
Wow, patriarchy at work, everyone knows women have better pain tolerance

>better levels
>more enemy variety
>story doesn't take itself too seriously
>jumpscares but the better more open levels help to make it feel more fresh

RE4 craps on Dead Space.

What are these reasons, exactly? Far as I can tell, bringing back mechanics like item boxes and (in the case of Madhouse) limited saves, Jack being a Nemesis-like entity, bullet crafting from 3, and general nods to RE's early silliness like the dog head locks and the shotgun puzzle throwback, there's certainly more semblance of old RE in 7 than there has been in the 5 mainline games prior to it. Won't say it's a fullblown return to form but comparing it to at least RE5/6 it's a turnabout in the right direction for once.

>not as good with weaponry and has less health.
>finish the game as Christ
>have over 50 shotgun shells
>over 30 magnum rounds
>over 30 full heal items (med spray, mixed herbs)

I always do this shit in survival horror games though, I hoard everything and just use a fucking pistol on bosses expecting a more difficult boss down the line.

Chris*
God dammit, of all the typos to make.

One has a more truly creepy feel though. All the fucked up shit. God just finding the shotgun is horrifying.

REmake for sure

4 is super fun but classic RE is probably my favorite game "genre", I love the camera and controls for some reason. Also I feel like 4 has a lot more fluff in it, I think most people would agree that the highlight of the game is the village portion and everything after is "that part"

Maybe, but overall I'd definitely say SH2 is the best in the series.

there's a mod to use the original audio over the remake visuals, its glorious

...

You beat Yawn and Tyrant with the standard pistol?
