What about them doesn't measure up apart from the size?

>laying the switch down while in docked mode in the fucking promotional materials

Thats how you get sued

Unless it has some major issues (ie causes battery problems, drops connection a lot etc) it still looks convenient enough taking with you. Who the fuck's gonna take a rectangular dock with them when traveling? The pic seems pretty compact.

They dont scratch the screen. Damn, nintendo is so innovative and great.

Sorry, what do you mean?

I've heard a bunch of horror stories about the switch, I'm going to have to buy one soon but I want to understand, is there any way to charge the controllers while playing or do I have to stop every time? What can I do to avoid the screen getting damaged? Which peripherals are pretty much required?
Keep in mind that I will likely never unhook it from the tv, I'm not really interested in mobile playing so my questions are related to that specific setup

I'll wait for Nyko's dock since it will end up being the cheapest option.

The air intake for the fans are on the back of the unit, and they only kick on in docked mode, so if its plugged into one of these portable docks while laying flat its guaranteed to overheat and possibly damage someones unit. The worst part is that they probably dont even give you a 3rd party stand with that dock dongle thing, making your only option for setting it down is with the intakes blocked, or some janky ass shit

Non issue, both joycons and pro can last days in a charge

>All of them have the wire built in
I really hate that. Why didn't they make it a USB-C to USB-C instead? You just know that cable is gonna get fucker and that's the end of it.

The controllers last a long time so as long as you attach them to the system while it's docked once in a while you shouldn't run into an issue. Buy a screen protector and apply it before docking the system.

That seems like a pretty big thing to overlook. Surely they'd notice something like that when designing it?

Charging grip is sold separately.
Get a tempered glass screen protector for $5-10

That's it. You're sorted.

The battery life on the joycons is actually pretty incredible, but if you want another solution than just putting the joycons on the switch, you can buy the charging grip for like 30 bucks or something, so you can plug in a usb cable while youre playing

Not him, but it's blocking the ventilation. The switch's are gonna overheat and die.

Some do, one of the kickstarter docks i saw has a package thats like 10 bucks more that comes with a 3rd party stand, but its not mandatory. It is a pretty massive oversight, and desu it will probably mean most of these kickstarter docks will fail miserably. They absolutely have to add in some kind of documentation that you are forced to read that warns against laying it flat like that, but when they show it laying flat like that in all of the promotional imagery it doesnt give me hope. i'm not buying one, i just hope no one gets fucked with a dead unit and no avenue to get it replaced because they used a 3rd party adapter

youtube.com/watch?v=RHy_TOdVHqQ

Really makes you think.

Thank you very much anons, I'll definetly get a screen protector, if the battery life is that long I won't need a power grip at all, I just assumed the battery life would be awful like every single wireless controller until now. The console charges automatically while docked, right? Do I need to bother with anything else?

Yeah the system charges while docked, and the joycons charge while theyre connected to the system

Yeah it charges when you click it in the dock.

You shouldn't need anything else. Though you could go and make a "Nintendo account" now to save time for when you get it. You can link multiple accounts for multiple regions.

I made a EU and US account and got games cheaper sometimes.

You can't put a fan on it

>Never got light up shoes when young
Where they as cool as the looked?

A youtuber had to literally disconnect the internal fan and fully cover the switch for it to overheat.
Why are people so hysterical about this?

(((CHAIM GARTENBERG)))
that's probably the Jewiest game "journalist" name I've ever read

Yes.

Shitposting. Why else?

That guy did that test in a 75 degree room most likely, if someone is playing outside in the heat or in an unclimate controlled environment it could easily overheat on its back. On the spec sheet for the switch it lists the operating environment at 45-95 degrees farhenheit, laying it on its back significantly reduces that range

>Chaim Gartenberg
AHAHAHAHAHA
OHOHOHOHOHO
What a Sup Forums-tier satirical over the top jewish jew name.

>playing outside
Why would you be connecting it to a dock outside?

Thank you
I think I got one already on my 3ds, I'm assuming it's the same one? The nintendo network thing?

Not sure, its definitely unlikely, but it can happen. The actual issue would be in an indoors environment with no ac, or if its especially humid

That's Nintendo Network ID. NNID.

You need a "Nintendo Account" on switch. Totally different thing. It's dumb I know.

>Reading anything by (((Chaim Gartenberg)))
OY VEY!
DON'T BUY THE NIPPON DOCKS, BUY THE KOSHER DOCKS!
SUPPORT ISRAEL GOYIM!

The dock scratching the screen is greatly over stated, but no harm in a screen protector I suppose to put your mind at ease.

So the switch really is complete garbage that only braindead nintendietoddlers would buy

when will nintendo stop giving you a different account for each piece of hardware you buy? I'm never going to take my 3ds out of the house because if I ever lose it or it gets stolen, I'm never getting back any of the digital stuff I ever bought because of their retarded online non-platforms
Anyway, thanks a lot for all your help, have a nice day user

The highest the guy got the switch to without disconnecting the fan was 58 degrees laying on its back while completely smothered.
The point is, sitting inside its proper dock will never need an auxiliary fan unless you're literally sitting in uninhabitable temperatures.

Maybe if OP posted a pastebin or an archive of the article instead of just the clickbait header we would actually know

They've finally fixed that with the switch thankfully. You can transfer your account to different hardware through your browser. I just hope they set up a cloud saving service in the future.

Only first run Switches have the screen warp/freeze problem because of the plastic used for the dock, that don't mean it's not worth getting a screen protector though. Just keep the joycons on the docked screen when you aren't playing and the batteries will have enough charge to run for days.

That's completely fucking retarded why would you put the vents on the back of the system like that? It means you're forced to use the kickstand and can never just lay it down on its back ever.

just turn it over so that the screen is down and the vents are up sempai

it's false, the switch works fine on its back. the only way to overheat it is to remove the fan completely or be in a fucking sauna

>be an idiot with technology
>it overheats
>WOOOOOOOOW

who the fuck cares about retards?

>who the fuck cares about retards?
The FCC. Technology should be retard-proof. Remember the warning messages on hot cups of coffees that contents may be hot?

Is that the air in-take our out-put?

>play a video game in a warm environment during summer
>you're a retard
>it's perfectly ok for the system to overheat
hmm

The only documented case of switch warping I read about was because the guy put his dick on top of his receiver.

Have there been other recorded instances?

>playing your electronics in a sauna
>not a retard

hrm

>sauna
>any building without an AC
hmm

put his switch*

holy fuck how did that happen

Yes intake in the top of the switch output on the back

proven false
youtube.com/watch?v=RHy_TOdVHqQ

lol you're a faggot user

Interesting. Thanks!

but thats wrong, the exhaust is on the top.

Nah, I figured it out, I was trying to say "dock" and i is only one key off.

>you
>reading comprehension

hmmm :^)
r u mad yet
I would be

Hilarious that an arm chipped console needs a fucking fan on the dock.

>buying a switch instead of an AC
Fucking thirdworlders

But it doesn't

Doesn't the switch come with the dock?

the link, since OP wants you to google the clickbait article

archive.is/U8aT3

literally nothing, just whining it's too expensive, pure clickbait

It comes with one dock., Part of the novelty/convenience of the system is that if you own more than own dock, you can freely and easily switch between televisions as well.

Why not just move the dock? It's small and very leightweight. That's what I do.

Because reaching behind the TV and unplugging the HDMI and Power supply is a pain in the ass? And because transporting it any further than one room to another is annoying too?

For example, I have one at home and one upstate. Now I can just tote the tiny switch rather than dedicating half a backpack to the dock/cables/etc.

>building your civilization in a god-forsaken desert never meant to harbour human life
shaking my head, famalam

They are reselling $30 Chinese Android accessories that people figured out work with the Switch for $70.

where the fuck is "upstate"? Is this an American thing?

I've got another place three hours away.

God damn americans are so lazy they can't ass themselves to move a box that weighs less than an empty backpack and plug in some wires. Can't say i'm surprised, though.

I've got a home theater setup, It's a pain in the ass to pull the HDMI out of the receiver and snake it through the furniture.

I also have concerns about the dock being damaged during transport, since I've heard some people bend their docks.

Last, it takes up space in the car. More space in the car means less space for other things.
