>Basic Action Combat Principles not present in the game: Good Camera Angle, 1:1 Hit Control. No Input Lag, Canceling mid-combo. Enemy Attack Telegraph.
>Never Challenges You: Most people who bought the game finished it according to PSN Trophies, more than other RPGs. Never happened with any of the other Final Fantasy games.
>Around 20 hours Main Story. Less if you go straight through. They promised 50 hours. If you read the description for the game’s story you are good for the first 15 hours.
>One of the main themes of the game are father-son relationship and Regis in on screen for less then 2 minutes.
>All Sidequests are fetch quests. All.Of.Them. Can only accept one hunt at a time.
>Loading Screen takes 40 Sec on average.
>Temp Music and Old Final Fantasy Music. Original Music are far and in-between and half of them are Versus XIII music.
>User-Interface (UI) is cluttered and makes the game look worse then what it is.
You forgot the car controls like a trolley mixed with a tricycle.
Joshua Cooper
The More You Know:
>They added the Camping Mechanic so that they could promote Coleman products, not the other way around. Who knows how many collaborations they were denied; Literately begging for money.
>Kingsglavie was made with old Versus CG they didn’t want to throw out. Character likeness are 1-1 to their model so they don’t have to animated them. Chinese and Indian artists worked on the movie cause cheap labor. Entire thing costs less than 10 Million.
>They toke everything that was available to the public: Insomnia, Nifilhim as the Empire, Altissia’s invasion and made a game around that so fans wouldn’t get mad that anything was cut. That’s why the game ends 6 hours after leviathan.
>No-name English Voices Actors because cheap and Americans don’t care. The guy who did Noctis did Aduio books for Playboy and was Train Announcer for Persona 5. Really cheap.
>Nomura and the A-Team were taken out because Final Fantasy VII-Remake was deemed more profitable.
>The suits at Square forced the team to make an open world even though the entire team were against it.
>Hajimi Tabata has probably been promoted and gotten a raise while also been giving the rights of handling multiple of other big projects at Square Enix.
Jace Collins
This desu.
Camden Nguyen
Pretty much agree with all of your points, and I genuinely think a lot of people do too. The UI one especially resonates with people.
Dominic Brooks
This is like some kind of reverse-shilling.
Daniel Cox
>No-name English Voices Actors Yeah! Where's my Keither Sutherland and Yuri Lowenthal?!!! I mean, yeah the voice actors we got were good, but I've never heard of them so who cares??
Hudson Jones
If you "liked" this then you would've adored this:
Gladio's Voice acting was awful... or maybe it was his dialogue...i think it was a mix of both.
Jeremiah Morris
Think of it as a test for a new formula, if they improve on these point in the next game, it can turn out pretty good.
Gavin Martin
Tipping at all you haters right now.
Owen White
the "named" ones were probably on strike, or something. their strike has been going on for a loooong time yet nobody gives a single fuck.
Gavin Foster
That doesn't diminishes the fact the I like it
Carter Lee
This is why am still sticking to Final Fantasy, Video games are such hell to work with and XV had to die because SE was still stuck at the that 360/PS3 era. It was a necessary sacrifice.
XV was in the perfect place: It sold well and had it enough fans to continue the series, but enough fans were bitching of the things that mattered. Hopefully they improve.
Brody Gonzalez
Noctis VA did pretty well and he was also in (and did well in) Berseria and Automata.
James Cox
You guys excited for Gamescom? They said they are showing big things....
Elijah Nguyen
Probably a PC release. Good for PCbros who want thw game but I've already played it to death and am not buying it again.
Luis Perry
Why are they showing big things now all this time after the game released? It's almost like they have enough cut content to make a new game.
Jace Barnes
Yeah it's called his ass user.
Brody Torres
Guessing PC Release. XIV collaboration and that DLC expansion they are working on.
Maybe a beta for the online multiplayer?
Jacob Peterson
PC release isnt really big news. Especially with how its been teased multiple times in the past
Jayden Foster
>Tfw put 200 hours into XV and overall loved it I really want a DLC about Ardyn's past or Nyx tho tbqh
Nolan White
Something that's been bothering the fuck out of me is that I can't get the second attack of a greatsword to come out by tapping attack twice. I can mash it out and hold it out but I can't for the life of me find the correct timing for only tapping twice. He always puts his sword away.
Brandon Allen
im still waiting for the game to ship from amazon. i beat my friends copy a long time ago and still dont have it.
Aaron Myers
Because the combat was designed with holding attack in mind. It's a pathetic action game.
Jace Kelly
>Sup Forums >hates FFXV because it "have" bad combat and storytelling >enjoy and praise the Souls series
Anons, don't take the opinion of the majority of the people in this board seriously, FFXV is a good naturally flawed game, easily an 8/10.
Ayden Allen
My quarrels;
> Jumping and action are the same button. fuck that > Gladio VA feels forced as all fucks. > Majority of the time spent was in the car (which was nice at first, and then became "Is Ebony really that good" simulator) > I had no issues with product placement whatsoever since it wasn't shoved in your face. > 12's landscaping felt better than 15's and more varied > What people hated about 12's combat, they praised 15's combat for. fuck gambits still tho. > Combat is too easy.
and to me, the biggest fucking flaw
> Kingsglaive was just used for cutscene purposes Literally no relation to the best thing to come from this game, the prequel movie. I seriously hope one of the DLCs they just haven't announced yet or will is something relating to Nyx and his backstory, along with acknowledging his work for the city.
Ryan Scott
>You forgot the car controls like a trolley mixed with a tricycle.
wow, they managed to fuck up the car after allowing you to off road with it?
What can Square do right with this mess?
Angel Evans
I still refuse to believe that this is a real product shat out by square
Ian Thompson
>>enjoy and praise the Souls series
those have good storytelling and combat.
XV's combat is "Hold O to win" and that carries you though 95% of the fights you encounter in the game.
Nathaniel Baker
What do you guys think of Tabata?
I personally respected him before the game released as he showed confidence in his work. After I finished the game and the credits rolled I felt I was scammed.
In the end he was just suit.
Michael Fisher
I have a feeling he was mostly clueless and i pretty much a yes man. Though it seems at least that every shitty design choice made in ffxv was his doing.
Brayden Baker
We saw of him in interviews and ATR then we needed to. He tried to sell himself and to make sure if this game was a success he would rise more then any director.
Andrew Hill
Dude barely played video games his last was CoD 2009 lol.
Alexander Hughes
He was given a raw deal. He was brought in to fix an unfinished mess and had tons of pressure from fans and the execs. Despite this he still made a better game than Toriyama and whoever the fuck ended up directing XII at the end. Not saying much, but it's something. If he were given a blank slate the game would have been much better, but he had to use Nomura's aborted scraps. And surprise surprise Nomura is already fucking up the VII remake and signaling that it's going to be another drawn out development cycle. It's going to be a hot mess.
David Parker
Yoshida is way better, he knows Square fucked up and admitted it and at least he finsihed every FF not like Tabata who only finished FF1, no wonder it has so many "references" to it.
John Murphy
>Despite this he still made a better game than Toriyama and whoever the fuck ended up directing XII at the end
whatever you say.
XII >>>>> XV
Jeremiah Cox
All his games have been completely mediocre.
Adrian Jenkins
Tips fedora
Anthony Myers
my main problem, and a deal breaker one
the FUCKING tiny, microscopic font they use in the entire game, I can barely read that shit cause my TV is pretty far from the sofa
Sebastian Cooper
I disagree. As a director he CHOSE (you cann look up the interviews) to have the game:
-Open-world even though the Team said "No, we can't". -Focused too much on Animation and polygon count. Made the game look like Uncharcted in an openworld. -No hit telegraph. -FFXV universe. -Season Pass.
Many, many things. If this game had scaled back in graphical quality, had an improved KH combat and not have been an open world it would have benefited immensely.
But FFXV was meant to sell it, being a good game was bonus.
Angel Morales
>he finsihed every FF
Source? Mad respect if true.
Samuel Williams
First of all XV is absolutely not better than XII, at all, its also fundamentally worse than XIII-2 and LR. Second, why don't we take a look at his "blank slate" games? Crisis Core, pretty good. Type-0, mediocre. 3rd Birthday, garbage. The story was there, a more talented director would have been able to tell it in it's entirety rather than fill the game with 100 fetch quests and product placement. It seems they also had a working combat build judging from the footage of them fighting in the courtyard. Menu-based like KH, timed dodges, limited warps, actual fucking magic.
Aaron Watson
>souls series >good combat and storytelling Sure, rolling around one hundred times and maybe hitting one or two times to start rolling around another one hundred times no matter what "class" you pick is a lot of fun. Waiting hours and hours of gameplay to pass to the game maybe show a single cutscene that always lasts a few seconds to try to explain something about this generic as hell lore is quite good storytelling as well.
>"hold O to win" Not quite. The game actually have: dodge, magical dodge, parry, warping in the scenario, warping to attack, elemental magic with different effects on enemies, different techniques with every character that changes combat a lot, tons of itens, summons and an amazing enemy variety. This "FFXV combat is just holding a single button" meme need to end.
Charles Young
Gladio's really hit or miss for me. Most of his battle grunts sound off, but stuff towards the end like how he said his heart was ready but his legs were unwilling or whatever going to the final battle sounded completely fine.
William Adams
Threads for this game are so terrible, whether for it or against it.
Asher Sanchez
It was also worth noting that Crisis Core had the budget and an A-team cause it was a major game in the Final Fantasy VII Compilation.
Luke Mitchell
>3rd Birthday >Garbage
yeah the story was completely retarded but I liked the gameplay, it was somewhat bullet spongey but it was good and its gimmick was nice and fun, graphics were good for a PSP as well
Alexander Torres
*steals your waif*
Mason Green
This is by far the best thread we had in months.
Elijah Collins
>or against it People's grievances with this game are completely justified. Get your fence-sitting ass out of here, this game deserves all the hate it gets.
Josiah James
Pretty much.
Uh, I'd say thread a couple hours ago was a little better.
Tyler Jenkins
>dodge which is also a "hold button" thing
>magical dodge can only obtain after equipping the ring
>parry only after a QTE prompt
>warping in the scenario only if you see a spot to warp to
>warping to attack, it's nice to get the jump on someone but the damage is lessened the closer you are to your target
>elemental magic with different effects on enemies that also affect your allies, making them useless
>different techniques with every character that changes combat a lot which is a selectable skill, they don't use the moves on their own
> tons of itens that you can use at any time to get rid of ailments
>summons RNG.
Gabriel Bell
All of his games have never been anything more than mediocre. And mind you, it's not like Square didn't have its fair share of mediocre games even in the golden age of the 4th/5th gen, but at least most of those games actually tried doing something different, like Live A Live, Bushido Blade, Racing Lagoon or Ehrgeiz, Tabata's shtick is doing the same mediocre ARPGs with style over substance over and over again, and make as many characters die because that's deep and dramatic.
Isaiah Mitchell
>summons Kek. Go play a KH game if you want to see what actual summons are.
Jaxson Brown
I agree with you on all points, yet I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Nolan Sanders
What is this from?
Levi Mitchell
I also enjoyed Deadly Premonition and the game itslef isn't that great. XV isn't shit, it's just dissapointing for a mainline FF/what it may could've been
Damn, even as someone who loved XV, that was really bad.
Benjamin Hill
FF XV gets more shit than it deserves, probably have the hype surrounding it to blame.
Overall the game is filled with good ideas and cool concepts, its big flaw is being unfinished and therefore unpolished.
Combat is interesting to say the least and shows its true potential when you hunt for targets way above your level or do the post game hidden dungeons. Problem is the lack of polish and balance, the healing system is a complete disaster that trivializes and already fairly easy game.
Aaron Edwards
XV is kinda shit though. It's just has a little bit more effort to it than other shit games. It's a pretty piece of shit.
Aaron King
>probably have the hype surrounding it to blame.
Not too long ago the Final Fantasy brand would bring the house down; It was GTA tier of hype. I'm not sure you know how much the name was a system seller.
>probably have the hype surrounding it to blame Maybe at first, by the time we've played the multiple demos people knew deep down it wasn't good, so over expectations can't be used to excuse how bad it is . It could have easily lived up to the hype had it had more talented people working on it. Versus was Nomura's next project, a dark FF game with action combat set is a realistic setting. People were excited sure but I wouldn't say people expected the greatest game of all time, that goes to MGSV.
Asher Garcia
When it's on PC, we can finally mod into a good game.
Lincoln Collins
Modders have a lot of work ahead of them to make that happen.
Isaiah Young
FF XIII really shat the bed though and especially after Square started to release truckloads of ports on everything and mediocre mobile games the Final Fantasy brand become associated with mediocrity.
It is a shame though because the XIII trilogy wasn't that bad overall and Lightning Returns is one of Square's best RPG in many years.
It still blows my mind how much hype XV recieved though despite all the redflags and the IP decline in popularity.
Jaxon Rivera
>Final Fantasy XV is essentially Final Fantasy I in the current time. >Magic and IPhones...etc. >A unique setting wasted for incompetence.
Levi Allen
Oh fuck off, people always say this and in 99.9% of cases all they do is bad nude mods. But of course they will praise the game non stop just like FFXIII
Kevin Cruz
0/10 made me reply.
You dumb fucking idiot. FFXV is one of the finest JRPGs ever made. Stop with the baitposting and go play the game yourself instead of watching gameplay videos of it.
Lucas Hughes
Tabata said he wanted modding in the PC version if possible.
>Not only we get smf but a good game.
Blake Morgan
What is so great about it? Name a couple of features you like?
Easton Roberts
>and Lightning Returns is one of Square's best RPG in many years. You must have really low standards when LR is more of a Tri Ace game to begin with and it's also a failed Valkyrie Profile clone, Squenix last good big budget game was The Last Remnant.
Nolan Diaz
I want Rob Tyler Campbell to leave.
Ryan Perez
if ffxv is good then imagine the bad ones
Michael Reyes
>Japanese console RPG >modding >b-but guy that has no saying when it comes to publishing said he wants something maybe!
>"Also, I would like to try developing on PC to pursue a unique way of playing with PC-exclusive features like making your own quests and enjoying the world using things like mods.
Kayden Allen
Didn't work for Skyrim, won't work for FFXV.
Colton White
All I can think of them doing is modding in Noct's V13 outfit since its in the files. Adjust damage and hp values so you can kill Ravus in under an hour. Add Cor, Iris, and Aranea in your party much more easily.
Adrian Allen
>Adding hit detection >Better UI. >Adding more quests in the open-world. >Reprogramming the combat to not be hold x to win. >Better camera. >Japanese voices by default.
Brody Bailey
>Adding hit detection >Adding more quests in the open-world >Reprogramming the combat to not be hold x to win I doubt modders will be able to do this, maybe add new (shitty) quests, but not the rest.
Joseph Cruz
My bets modders would stop doing anything after naked Cidney, Iris and Ara reskins.
Ryder Ward
TLR was fucking dope, I remember getting a used 360 for that game.
Maybe I have shit taste but I reallly enjoyed LR, combat gave you plenty of offensive and defensive options, could get incredibly strategic, was a perfect mix of skill and mind, supported by a difficulty that didn't think of the player as a retarded weaboo JRPG fan or an obnoxious normalfag.
Atmosphere was great, OST was great, progression was great, writing was great. Loli Lightning is really nice too but not everybody likes the kind of character that Lightning is.
Isaiah Morales
Then we can finally get Aranea and Cindy sfm, and maybe Iris jerking Talcott off or something.
Evan Ross
>Japanese voices by default.
The current state of PC gamers. They can't even go into option settings menu and switch to Japanese.
Men, the good old days of HL mods really are over aren't they?
Xavier Bailey
I'll same several. The beautiful fantastical open world, fast-paced action-oriented combat, the characters, story, music, creatures etc etc. Get some taste you shit-eating hillbilly.
Dylan Myers
What's your true and honest opinion on RE7?
Carson Ramirez
With fanbase like this you rather get Prompto riding Gladio's giant cock.
Aiden Mitchell
It is inevitable I suppose.
Brayden Ward
>Woman and fags knowing how to smf.
No.
Robert Rodriguez
You left out the shitty localization. Anything SE localizes in-house becomes faux pretentious nonsense that doesn't give a shit about translation accuracy. It's been this way since the merger.
Caleb Harris
>They actually didn't notice that they used the same shitty pun twice.
Burn it with fire.
Camden Cruz
Dont mind me asking, What are some JRPGs you have played?
Dominic Nelson
Trying too hard to emulate XV-kun
Connor Green
No Leon. No buy.
Elijah Robinson
