Marche is the best FF villain ever.
>Is actually, literally talking to a sentient being that has its own thoughts and opinions
>Destroying the world fucking kills her
>"YOU'RE NOT REAL BECAUSE I SAY SO AND THAT'S WHY ITS OKAY TO KILL YOU, SO LET ME KILL YOU!"
Marche is actually fucking retarded.
That's what is crazy about this game. There are several moments towards the end which (if I'm remembering correctly) explicitly state that Ivalice is actual world. But Marche doesn't give fuck and kills MEWT'S MOM TO DESTROY THE WORLD.
No he wasn't
>spend years loving the FFTA OST
>consider sakimoto favourite square composer because of it
>recently find out that all the best themes were done by ayako saso, she did all the good battle themes while he just did the filler music
You can be right and still be a cunt who needs to step the fuck back.
>Entire functioning world of your fantasy appear where you are happy.
>It's real in every sense of the word. Real sentient beings are born into this world and live their entire real lives in this world.
>Absolutely nobody is inconvenienced even mildly by the fact that this world exists.
"A world where he isn't sad??? I don't feel like he should be happy."
-destroys a the world-
>her
Not only that, Mewt's own fucking mother admitted it was all fake and not real despite what it seemed.
Except for the people the cripple didn't like, who got fucked completely.
>Defending a tyrannical despot that turns people into monsters to have them killed over and over again
>Ignoring that the Grimoire's Ivalice was unstable and being destroyed anyway
Sup Forums sure is underage.
The game does a really poor job of actually demonstrating that the world is fake though. What does that even mean? People live and die and fight and have feelings in the fake world too, there just isn't enough in that world that ever really suggests to the player "staying here is bad".
How does Marche know that the "real" world is actually real?
It's almost like it's not actually that deep or detailed
Wasn't it also slowly killing everybody?
Been awhile since I've played so I don't remember for sure
Maybe in the Japanese script? In the English version Marche's motives basically amount to "it's escapism it's not healthy fuck you we're going home"
>>Ignoring that the Grimoire's Ivalice was unstable and being destroyed anyway
Where was this stated? Is this one of those retarded bits that people spout with absolutely zero sources, just like how the world is supposedly eating peoples' souls or some shit that was never stated? (And look what popped up while I was typing this )
Marche doesn't mention any of that though.
Is this just a bad translation? Or did they seriously think this kids cartoon tier moral was appropriate?
It reminds me of all of those awful books that were state approved for education which basically had the protagonist find a fantasy world but they always were his childhood imagination/illusions, fuck those gave me the shits back then.
The problem is how underplayed that part was as a result of clumsy writing. It should have emphasized on the world was not actually real and harming its denizens through more than a villain's monologue, but it didn't. It's difficult to sympathize with Marche because he doesn't actually have that much ground to stand on other than him being the protag and being right as a result of this.
I think in FFTA2 the writers just gave up and said "yeah, this is a real world this time so you're not going to destroy it, just find a way home".
>Fantasy world is the same as entering your happy place
This isn't Bridge to Terabithia. Ivalice was real to an extent.
>and harming its denizens through more than a villain's monologue
Unless you're referring to the three bullies, no, the world was not harming anyone. It's never once stated by the queen/Li-Grim or anyone else. It's never stated that the world is killing everyone or anything like that. Every time you guys bring this up in these threads, I ask for a source and I never get a response.
Sorta. Mewt's wish forced most humans in St. Ivalice to turn into monsters and other humanoids.
I don't know why people keep quoting Ivalice as unsustainable though. It wasn't until Marche started destroying the crystals that everything started going to shit.
>it seems real so it must be real
literally animal "logic".
oh no...
It's been suggested there was some kind of soul sucking or something, but I've looked through both scripts and there's no mention that. I mean, there are the jagds, but the big conflict is, from beginning to end, Marche wanting to go back to the home he came from and to keep his friends from running away from their problems.
The Japanese script IS a bit more explicit after the first boss fight, when it explains that if Marche destroys the crystals, the "other world" will appear (ENG has "another world"). It's a little change, but the implication is greater that it's the original world.
Still precious little information for Marche to act on; he doesn't exactly have a guarantee that things will go back to the way he knew them.
And the world is "real" insofar as it is tangible with lives happening, but it is "false" in that it is not the exact Ivalice of XII's time (as happens in FFTA2), it is a changing of reality from the power of the grimoire.
Then it mean there no soul sucking shit going on. Stop spreading this rumor.
Lol her plan is to kill everyone in the grimoire nigga you stupid
I don't get it either. I don't understand where the whole "world is killing everyone" thing is coming from or why people keep spouting it. And no one can ever seem to provide a source for it.
>It's been suggested there was some kind of soul sucking or something, but I've looked through both scripts and there's no mention that.
Then no, there's nothing suggesting that from your own words.
>If I'm remembering correctly
Lol no you're not. It's all in the grimoire using the souls of people from St. Ivalice.
Suggested by other people on Sup Forums and the like, not by the game itself, is what I'm saying.
Except that's not her plan at all? Her entire purpose was fulfilling wishes, she says that herself.
>Lol no you're not. It's all in the grimoire using the souls of people from St. Ivalice.
Where is your source for this? Because it's never stated in game that this is the case. Look at Ah, gotcha.
I never actually beat the game, can someone post the villain monologue where she admits it's all fake?
No joke, it does seem like he'd eventually end up as a school shooter or something.
>I don't get it! The voices said that all I had to do was shoot a few of these imaginary kids and that'd be enough to crash the Matrix and send me back to the real world- why isn't anything happening?
Play the goddamn game. She tells you she's killing everyone at the beginning of her fight. How the fuck do people keep forgetting this?
Would you leave this world for a fantasy one knowing it's escapism Sup Forums?
How do you think they did the tiles for FFTA? Like are each of the blocks one tile including the sides and top with extra stuff like the trees being objects or decals painted over the tiles? Or are the tiles' tops and sides independent?
Why else do you think I own a gun?
user I've played this game like a million times, how about you go back and play it? At most she says the world is fake.
Remedi: This world is illusion. You can hold it in your hand and still be
holding nothing. You... have accepted this?

honestly he's 100% right, as much as it hurts to say. it goes down to the point you realize all video games do not produce actual substance to your personality. they are like candy and if you eat too much candy you turn into the fat kid with no teeth.
Regardless of whether the world was tangible or not, Mewt's fantasy was harming otherwise innocent people just because he was dissatisfied with his own life. It needed to be undone
Too bad the second game shatters that idea, Marche was wrong on all fronts about the world
>>It's real in every sense of the word. Real sentient beings are born into this world and live their entire real lives in this world.
NPCs literally say they're fake marionettes feeding into his delusion.
2nd game takes place in a different Ivalice I think, the Ivalice in FFTA is an imitation of the real thing modified to appeal to Mewt.
The only character who says this is Babus and he only mentions it because he's paraphrasing the main character and saying it's absurd because he's served the prince for 13 years.
>her
I feel like half of the people in these threads haven't even played the game. The stuff they spout is just so ridiculous.
Go fuck yourself Marche. I don't play videogames to be scolded on escapism.
Guess what Marche? I'm a real person and your just a shitty computer simulation. Who's laughing now bitch?
I have good news
and I have bad news.

FFTA2 >>> FFTA > FFT
Purely based on mechanics.
FFTA2 hit the sweet spot. FFT mechanics suck by modern standards. FFTA had the worst bullshit with the jail system and the placing lands and your loot depending on them, and all the RNG shit.
FFT has great mechanics, the game just doesn't really make you use them in order to win. There's some pretty good ROM hacks that show what you can do in the system. For raw gameplay value of the base games I think I'd put FFTA2>FFT=FFTA though.
FFTA2 is slow as shit, so, no.
And to think we're never getting another one because Tactics S was unsurprisingly liquid diarrhea.
Maybe if XII sells well we can go back to Ivalice like Squeenix says about all the worlds they create.
Rip Gria

I knew and feared that someone would post something like this. Oh well, guess I better start scolding thin air that it's escapism to play the earth simulator game.
And that it's in the players best interest to have me win the next publishers clearing house.
I'm not even memeing when I say he did nothing wrong.
Setting aside all the malicious problems with the storybook Ivalice, there's literally nothing wrong with escapism, especially in such a thorough form as a virtual universe. There's no point in living as an abused cripple for thirty years until you die in obscurity and are forgotten. Everything people do is to alleviate their suffering in the world or forget it if that isn't possible.
>wanting a new game from Square Enix in 2017
but why
Yeah I fucking loved that game, haven't gotten around to FFT yet so I hope I'm not as disappointed as you were.
Who knows though, if they made another entry it'd probably as ugly 3d graphics.
I agree.
Our society values concepts like escaping your past by moving to a new town/city and starting a new life but somehow it's not ok here since the world you're going to is magical.
Strong disagree. The mechanics fucking sucked.
Too many RNG mechanics. Too much shit like "lol 50% chance to Stone your characters, but it lands EVERY SINGLE TIME, unless YOU try to use it, then it obeys the 50% hit chance".
Fuck that. The map and mission and job systems were all better in later games. Once they ditched the RNG evade and balanced the buffs/debuffs a bit everything was golden.
I wouldn't call it slow. It's just long. Takes forever to beat the game. I count that as a good thing.
You can go 20-30 hours without unlocking all of the classes.
At hour 40 you might be on the final Heritor quest and finally finish Adelle's story.
At hour 60 or 80 you might be getting the last Blue Mage abilities on your Paladin/Blue Mage tank.
100 hours in, you're probably finishing up all the Cinquelur shit and running out of shit to do, finally.
I loved all of that. There was so much lore in those missions and so much shit to craft and unlock that it felt good to never run out of things to do.
If you rush, iirc, you can beat the game in 8-12 hours if you do few or no sidequests. The speed clear records are apparently around 4 hours.
>Yeah I fucking loved that game, haven't gotten around to FFT yet so I hope I'm not as disappointed as you were.
FFT was great back in the day, but it doesn't hold up anymore.
Decent story. Typical of SRPGs of its day like Tactics Ogre. Gameplay's pretty meh, imo, though.
...
That's the thing, though. Remedi even says it's not hurting anyone, and Marche even accepts that but still disagrees with it.
>Takes forever to beat the game
It takes forever to do any little thing. Every action takes 400 years to complete. It's slow, and it's ugly.
...
Oh I'm not arguing over whether Marche was right or not. I'm arguing over the idiotic notion that the world was killing everyone despite nothing of that nature was ever mentioned once in game.
>le want to go back to poverty and getting raped by his father in a daily basis
you know he wanted to go back for the daddy dick
they sure went out there way to give him a nice ass.
I'm the user that posted the (you) image. I agree with you--this stupid thing is just people taking something said on Sup Forums as gospel.
Someone pulled up the Japanese version a long time ago and nowhere was it said. The dialogue was nearly 1:1.
...
TA2 bored me to tears and i loved TA
same here. I really liked TA a lot, and looked forward to TA2 but holy FUCK is it a slog. Gave up immediately, nobody has time for that shit
...
I just think A2 is overall a better game than Advance, the story is simpler not like its this overly pretentious story that takes itself way too seriously.
It hurts...
Never played FFTA, but isn't Marche the MC? If so, how is he also the villain?
just a little?
>some guy decides to transform everyone in town's life into some new random human or humanoid animal with whole new lifes
>all of this without even asking them if they wanted to be transformed into a lizardman or a zombie
>the guy who turned all back into normal is the villain
He's the villain because people here think taking a whole town into a fantasy world is okay as long as they can fuck the viera pussy.
>We will never FUCKING EVER get another tactics
A lot.
>not bangaa pussy
Don't want one if Matsuno isn't directing
Right, should've said only disgusting furfags/scalefags thinks Marche was the villain.
There's also literally nothing wrong with Marche saying fuck your imaginary world, I don't want to be here and I'm gonna turn everything the way it was
But remember, the bully kids in the beginning of the game get turned into monsters.
So every time the group fights monsters, its like they're killing real people. So the only people that get to use Ivalice as wish fulfillment are Marshe's friends
>not Nu mou pussy
>admits they didn't even give the game a chance to pick up
>still badmouth it endlessly over and over in thread
Grow up.
He has a difference of opinion about living in the fake world he and his schoolmates are involuntarily sucked into. Instead of submitting and taking the world at face value he continually asserts that it is a mirage.
As far as I can tell people call him a villain because they wanted the game to end with the characters living out their fantasy of escaping a harsh reality instead of returning and making the best of it, which the characters do.
A few resist his efforts to get them back where they came from, but mostly they end up agreeing with him after they discuss the matter and even those that don't admit that his point of view has weight behind it.
I think the reason he gets so much shit around here is because lots of people on Sup Forums don't like their lives and would rather run away than work to improve them, and Marche is the exact opposite of that.
I don't care at this rate, i just want a new tactics.
>tfw ffxiv did a tactics teaser of the alexander raid for april fools
My heart.
I love FFTA and A2 as well. I just had a few complaints, which are mostly opinion based.
Gria and Seeq felt absolutely pointless. Like two of their combined job list were even worthwhile and those were still outclassed by other races.
They didn't port over the two best combat themes from TA (Undefeated Heart and Unavoidable Destiny).
I absolutely HATED the new MP system in that you started at 0 MP. Yeah, the increased MP regen helped, but it was still super obnoxious, especially for classes like Illusionists who already have really high MP costs.
I didn't particularly care for the inclusion of the Green Mage (mainly the way it was incorporated, which was stealing or using spells from other jobs). If it wasn't mostly stuff covered by other jobs, which brought other useful stuff to the table, it might feel worth it. Leap is nice though.
I was also extremely rustled that Tricksters had better M.Atk. growths than Bishops. Bishop was my favorite job and it was already subpar compared to other jobs, now it gets outclassed in the one area that it was superior in for its race.
I think you mean Bangaa dick.
Honestly, I wonder if the game devs named the zombies/vampires after the three bullies specifically to indicate that those were the actual bullies, or to just represent those bullies. We don't have hard evidence that it's actually them.
Pink hair girl even point this out when they're vampire
I wonder how many people here actually know of whether the world inside the book counts as real or not, and whehter the world will continue to exist if the main characters leave are both topics brought up in the game
He doesn't
If the real world could be warped so easily then it didn't have any value in the first place.
>natural flight without using items is useless
>mirror item and traps are useless
I DO wish their other classes had been better, but you still can't say that a brawler that can fly over the enemy team or up cliffs to smash squishies with a giant sword is useless. I'd chalk it up to them being relatively new. If they ever made another game they could build more on these classes.
I loved the MP system because it made mana regen matter and let mana abilities be more powerful because you couldn't just spam a bunch of them from the start of the game. The 0 start system also opened up mana potions/canoneers/etc. You can stick your Illusionist/Seer in the back corner of the map and pot them up on turn 1 and start spamming map-wide damage on the enemy team and teleporting around.
You're spot on about the Green Mage, though. I always wished the Green Mage had less RNG and more potency and focused as a combo class. Oil these enemies, then nuke them with a black mage or red mage for more damage than normal. Instead, the effects of Green Magic were rarely worth losing a turn on. A Red Mage/Green Mage casting Oil + Fire usually wasn't as good as casting Fire + Fire.
>Gria and Seeq felt absolutely pointless.
Maybe Seeq, Gria were pretty good. At least Gria Hunters, and Ravagers were top tier. Raptors were at least better than Soldiers, Warriors and Fencers. By the time you can recruit them you're probably past using Soldier types, but Hunter and Ravager are definitely too good to pass up.
The world in the first game was explicitly shown to be transformed from the old world though
>Squenix supposedly teases something involving Ivalice
>It's another fucking FFXIV raid
I would literally throw money at them if the game itself was based in Ivalice
They may not be a direct one to one transformation of those bullies, since those monsters definitely die but the bullies are still around in the epilogue, but perhaps Marche thinks its bad that his friends are fantasizing about killing people
what if a dude born in the fantasy world went around murdering world leaders to bring back the fantasy world because that's his real world
Lmao who decides that, if Marche wants to go back it's fully within his rights to do whatever he can to make it happen
If Ivalice can be destroyed so easily by one fucking grade schooler, what """value""" could it possibly have
So who here abuse Air Render and Backdrift like crazy?
