Can we brainstorm ideas for a hunter x hunter game

can we brainstorm ideas for a hunter x hunter game

O

MY

RUBBER

The technology doesn't yet exist to do the only proper HxH game where you the player physically are sucked into a real to scale version of Greed Island and collect cards.

NEN

Create your own hunter rpg while exploring the world or an arc sys fighting game.

O MY DOLPHIN CHAIN

Well, there were already several. Most of them were RPGs of varying systems (such as a Mystery Dungeon-esque game), so that'd probably be a good place to start.

Should I read the manga or keep watching the latest anime adaptation?

I left the last one right when Gon was about to fight hisoka on a tower tournament or something.

lel

>really enjoyed yu yu Hakusho
>can't stand HxH

Why? I remember my Japanese friend always hyping it up back in the early 00s as being the best shit around.

Watch anime, art for manga is inconsistent.

did he stopped on purpose or did he miss that slap?

>asking strangers why you have shit taste
im not a diagnostician

It's a little more homoerotic with the shota shit, but honestly I think it's better than YYH. YYH has some fantastic shit, like Dark Tournament, but the later arcs are terrible and the ending is complete garbage. HxH has multiple great arcs, including the Chimera Ant arc which is fucking top tier (if not too long). It'll probably never get an ending though, which is a bummer. Also, I'm speaking specifically about the YYH anime and the 2011 run of HxH. My autism doesn't allow me to read manga.

>my autistm does not let me to read manga.
Please explain

Gon dodged it

He does a stop punch feint later that's more noticeable

HxH is much, much better, although after Ant Arc it's been kinda mediocre.

2D fighting game would be most reasonable. You could probably do a Naruto Ninja Storm thing, too.

Despite being battle shounen, HxH does not have a story you can easily translate into anything like a faithful video game adaptation. Fights are occasional and fraught with strategy. Frequently, arcs will end anticlimactically with no real violent confrontation. You can't have Gon going around punching the shit out of a bunch of stock characters, because nothing like that ever happens in the series.

Maybe HxH feels too childish to you, which is what a lot of my friends told me. Chimera Ant arc fixes that though

>people will defend this

No real explanation, I just don't like reading comics sans color and I don't like reading on my computer. I've tried to read manga or comics on my Kindle, but it looks like shit. The only manga I've bothered reading was Part 3 and 4 of Jojo because I was tired of waiting for the show, and that was mainly because it was colored. In retrospect, I'm guessing someone has probably colored the early parts of HxH by now.

I know everyone memes this, but I'd love madhouse to animate that fight.

Legit foreshadowing and lasting ramifications. Also it looked cool.

Nowhere near Alluka or rubber nen tier bullshit.

He instantly aged himself, why wouldnt his hair be fuckin long as shit

What's wrong with it?

aged like 20 years in a sec

would've been cooler if he had real long nails too

Chimera Ant killed a bunch of people or turned into something else, shit's wonky.

That then follow up with the Chairman Election, which then taken over by the Succession/Dark Land before some sort of closure.

I mean, I can reinvest myself, but it still feel unrequited.

At least the series is picked up again after what felt like a whole year hiatus - fuck.

been mediocre because of constant haitus

im going to wait till im 30 and see if the manga progressed

Its a meme.. i dont remember the video to explain shit

you want a game that could actually be done do one based solely off of greed island

>Chimera Ant arc is good!!!
>bunch of edgy violence and supporting character deaths
>"we want the Game of Thrones audience"

>>At least the series is picked up again after what felt like a whole year hiatus - fuck.
HxH is alive again?

I preferred Yorknew over chimera ant but it is still a fucking amazing shounen arc
Requiem for Uvogin is the scene that probably sticks with me the most from HxH

>can't stand HxH
How far have you gotten in?

Yeah, 261 - 263 came out the last month or so. Before that after 260 took like a year break. The original artist is sick or some shit; somebody is picking it up in his place.

>"we want the Game of Thrones audience"
wat

Started back up June 26th.

it has to be an MMORPG.

You don't play as anyone from the show. You create a character. The first quest of the game is to beat the Hunter Exam. This isn't a tutorial - its an actual competition, with other players vying to pass. It should be possible to fail the Hunter Exam, but at the same time no one should be stuck because they are unable to pass the Exam. The events should also be randomized and for balancing purposes, it makes sense to give easier events to those with multiple failures. But each time you try to take the exam, you have to have grinded up the entrance fee for it and made yourself strong enough to pass the trials. I also feel like spontaneous player factions trying to pass the exam could form as people made pacts to help each other pass, and there could be betrayals between players or lasting friendships made.

Once you pass the Hunter Exam, you unlock nen. Now, nen is extremely unique and difficult to create in a videogame, so my idea would be to simply incorporate every characters nen abilities into the game. Every character would have the regular nen moves like Ko and Gyo, but limited access to special abilities. For example, if you want to use Gon's Jajanken, you can equip it as an ability. So for example, someone could use Jajanken and Bungee Gum in combination, resulting in pulling enemies in close to knock them out. I think that the idea of combinations makes the nen system creative while retaining structure. Because you wouldn't be allowed to use Nen abilities that aren't compatible together, eg you can't use Jajanken with Chrollo's Bandit's Secret in accordance with Enhancers being unable to learn Specialist abilities.

Man, you've got an adventure ahead of you. I envy you. Wish I could re-watch it for the first time again.

Meruem is what made the arc for me. I completely expected a shitty Cell clone who would be a powerful edgelord and they'd have to band together to kill him. What I got was quite different.

Okay, so once you've learned Nen, the fun begins. The world is now completely open - you're allowed to go where you want and do what you want. But of course, going to East Gorteau right away is going to result in having a not great time. First you'll be choosing the kind of Hunter you want to be, which will affect how you progress with "completion" of various journals with multiple tiers. For example, there could be a journal of recipes and a journal of treasures. A Gourment Hunter can fill out the first tier of the treasure journal, but not more than that. However once they finish the first tier of the recipe journal, they will get a new journal with higher level and rarer recipes (and become 1star, 2star etc hunter). In this way, no one can become the "ultimate" hunter. A 3star Treasure Hunter wouldn't have the ability to craft the ultimate foods a 3star Gourmet Hunter could.
Anyways, beyond that the game pretty much writes itself. The main hook is finding and collecting new abilities as well as completing your journals. Ability collecting would be fun because you'd have to find and get the ability from the user. For example, you want Hisoka's Bungee Gum? Go beat him at Heaven's Arena. You want Morel's Deep Purple... go help him with the Chimera Ants.

My endgame dream is Dark Continent being REALLY intimidating. I want fully stocked teams of 3star hunters having completed everything else in the game preparing for days, if not weeks, before embarking on the journey.

Meruem is the literal opposite of edgy. Neck yourself desu

fuck you faggot

>I'm retarded

Just found out people unironically like HxH
I've now seen pure autism

now look into a mirror, you might see a big pile of shit, that is your taste

Maybe because in HxH there is so little fighting until the ants and even then the main characters take a back seat every arc to the people around them? It's bullshit. I like my main characters to actually do things in my anime, no be observers to everything because they are underpowered and shit.

>watches HxH
>talks about taste
kek this gets better and better

I'd have preferred Chrollo pull that bookmark bullshit after he was pressed a lot more than he was, might as well have just shown him kicking Hisoka in the dick repeatedly while they both laugh the entire time

it actually does feel bad to spend time on something and sharing it with others only to get rejected... if thats what you were aiming for, well you got it.

Oh yeah that reminded me, for such a wonky arc it ended top tier on my list. Im a sucker for star crossed lovers ending. I was fucking annoyed and then I was genuinely sad - roller coaster of emotion, fucking author dipshit playing with my heart.

I actually enjoyed that, made it feel like gon actually grew stronger over the course of the series

greed island
>psx graphics

go watch boku no piko fag

Don't take that guy too seriously, user. Remember where you are.

>Gon
>underpowered

What is this meme?

Just let CC2 and Bamco create an Azuras Wrath 3.0 HXH-core

In a un-anime twist, though, Gon going berzerk mode had some very fucking serious effects and required tranny magic to keep him alive. Most shows would just make this the next stage in a continuous power creep.

Killua...

Gon really went apeshit in that arc.
>Gon bitches at the Genei Ryodan because they kill people who have nothing to do with them
>Gon later threatens to kill Komugi if Pitou doesn't do as he asks

Literally one side character died what the hell are you talking about? Or are you referring to those nobody one episode hunters from the exam that got frankenstein'd by Pitou?

good bitch you're ideas are shit that's why you've never succeeded at anything

Sorry lad, but mmos are inherently shit games.

Just the 'struth.

He does get stronger but he still never does anything. The only thing he did of note was beat Pitou and that was basically via plot shenanigans.

Having something like the Champions Online ability creation system would be cool. I don't really remember to what extent the game did it but I think a HxH game where you create your own hunter needs to have a system where you can make your own skillset. Nen truly has the groundwork for an amazing game system but building it to be satisfying would be incredibly hard.

Taking special character abilities directly from the series would be incredibly lame as people would simply make their XxKurapikaxX's and 420DarkGon's

you tell him man

Greed Island was the worst arc and you fucking know it, faggot.

You realize this left Gon completely incapable of using nen, right?

nah that goes to zoldyck family arc

I hope you don't think Gon won't be able to use Nen in the future? I mean I'd love nothing more than Gon to fuck off and Ging becomes the protagonist now, but Gon's definitely getting his nen back and is getting back in the limelight after this arc, or possibly even during.

sorry dude but everything you posted makes me pray you never post on this site again cuz I'll know its you and I'll kill you

He's definitely getting it back but the entire series took a really weird turn after that and the hiatuses have made it even weirder.

Right now it's like Kurapika is the MC even when he wasn't around for like the entire Chimera Ant arc.

I genuinely enjoyed every act, so I would want to go through every trial and have the feeling that I am becoming more powerful.

I also only want to play as gong and killua, mabye one mission as black haired funny man but no blondie. (It has been a while I forget the names

The combat would have to be brutal and difficult for me to feel like it was authentic.

Despite being cartoony the fights in the show fucking rocked my balls off.

>So for example, someone could use Jajanken and Bungee Gum in combination, resulting in pulling enemies in close to knock them out.

That's kinda fun

What's the most broken combination of two nen abilites?

Because nen would be such a difficult thing to implement into a video game personally I think they would have to do some kind of quiz like 25 30 questions and that would be what determines you're available nen options I guess

Why didn't they just nuke the ants in the first place? No reason for netero to die and gon to almost die

I just mentioned that because Gon getting back his nen even though he made a nen vow pretty much makes his vow worthless or not really a sacrifice since there was no longer consequence. I'd love if Gon doesn't get it back, but I doubt it. And yeah Kurapika getting the limelight is cool, though Togashi prob put him and Leorio in the limelight because of complaints that Gon and Killua hog the spotlight.

Fighting game done by Arcsys. CC2 also works, but then it'd be a casual fun game.

Nen is the main focus of the game. EX attacks charged with Nen that break guards unless you are defending with Nen.

The HxH cast hasn't that many important fighting characters, so you could get a ~30 size decent roster:

>Gon
>Killua
>Kurapika
>Leorio
>Hisoka
>Illumi
>Zeno
>Gotoh
>Chrollo
>Uvogin
>Feitan
>Phinks
>Nobunaga
>Machi
>Shalnark
>Biscuit
>Genthru
>Kite
>Morel
>Knov
>Netero
>Knuckle
>Shoot
>Palm
>Meruem
>Pitou
>Youpi
>Poufu
>Cheetuh
>Ging

Maybe the series could work better as an RPG, but that would never work out well, and fighting games have the most replay value even when they aren't that good.

>gon cries over a nobody that he just met

really takes you out of the show.

YYH would have benefited massively from being just a bit more like dbz and other shonen. Aside from Yusuke, you never exactly see the other main cast learn- they pull new moves out of their ass. Hiei never uses the green form after his first encounter, during Chapter Black Kurama pulls out the seemingly insanely OP sinning tree which doesn't have any of the self-harming drawbacks of the rest of his moveset, etc.

Makai tournament would have been more satisfying if there was at least one massive asshole antagonist to root against, since both Yomi and Mukuro turned out to be cool.

It may have seemed that way from the anime, I also got that impression at first. Their relationship is deeper in the manga it makes more sense if you read it.

Yeah, I know but I am just a bit salty with the way they portrayed it in the anime.

would hisoka get completely fucking destroyed by the royal guard?
And can't killua rape most humans with Godspeed?

because people lived there, netero needed to get the king somewhere the explosion wouldn't hurt anyone

I never liked Kite, shit was dumb. I feel like Gon should have met his dad right there. Then I could believe all the anger.

I don't even think LISTEN UP MY RUBBER NEN could help him with the royal guard

>tranny magic

I heard it was because the chimera ant arc was just getting finished when the show was being made so they had to rush it.
It would have been much better if they properly displayed his background it felt shallow from the show.

just rose the palace then

People say that, but the chimera arc didn't air until about 2 years after the manga finished up that arc and the election arc survived fine.

The manga art is quite shoddy and minimalistic most of the time. It's weird how well it still conveys emotion

>main character and his butt buddy that get all the focus for some reason are obnoxious, dull, and generic as fuck
>extremely interesting side characters that occasionally get some time devoted to them but not nearly enough
I would greatly prefer it if HxH was about Kurapika killing off the Phantom Troupe one by one and also Hisoka than all this faggotry about friendship and shit with Gon and Killua

Leorio = kuwabara?

>no razor

Conveying emotion is the only thing the mangaka is actually good at.

C'mon, man
Killua is a good boi

I thought about it, he could be great, but I wouldn't put him over anyone I mentioned except maybe some of the Ryodan.

I've never watched this show, but I did enjoy a doujin where that guy kept that kid as a sex slave. I think the game should be about that.
