I'll tell you what happend:
Square Enix people like Hashimoto thought they wanted to retire and wanted to cash-out the series before they leave:
>Wee maku Finaru Fangy Sevanu Remaku.
Artistic Vision be dammed.
They wanted to appeal to the western audience. That's why it's action combat and open world.
The FFVII remake is the proverbial "break glass in case of emergency" situation. They spent a ton of money on FFXV and needed an easy way to get it back.
I still want to play this fucking game, when the fuck is it coming to steam?
It got in the way of a great Final Fantasy game.
>yfw the Gamescom ATR will the biggest shitposting and dislikes.
I just got level 30 on XIV. When is the story going to get interesting? I heard Heavesward is great, but am not sure if Stromblood has a good story.
Stormblood had a better girl
>game trains you to dodge everything
>some enemies have undodgeable attacks
FUCK
First I thought shit was too easy, then I ended up thinking it was frustratingly hard. At least you can use literally any recovery item to get up from whoops-i-slipped mode.
>bros charge headlong into dangerous attacks and don't dodge nearly as effectively as noct
DOUBLE FUCK
I seriously hate how often your crew of apes is lying on the fucking ground. I wish I could order them to chill the fuck out and block or something. Also, while I'm dreaming, it would be sick beyond sick if they could actively use unison attacks with each other and gave noct more animations for syncs with the other weapons.
I mean, if you didn't find the rape dungeon interesting, I dunno what to say.

Was FFXV supposed to be in the same world as the XIII trilogy? They were talking about etro's light and shit
Wait for Gamescom. Releases at the end of the year maybe or early next year.
They want your money as much as you want the game.
it looked bad since the Versus days.
They made the best Final Fantasy ever.
Just in name; It had nothing to do with XIII.
who /monster gambling/ here?
that shit was tight, regardless of the rest of the game.
Not trying to shill e-celebs, but Dean's video is worth a watch. He makes good points that resonate with a lot of our complaints. I've actually never seen him make such a depressing video like this before. Kinda feel bad for him.
ONE DAY I WILL BE A BILLIONAIRE AND I WILL FUND THE CREATION OF VERSUS XV MY GOD DAMN SELF
I WILL FIND NOMURA'S DECREPIT ASS AND FORCE HIM TO MAKE IT
NOJIMA AND FERRARI TOO
Let's just assume for a moment there are things in this world made for the purpose of profit that AREN'T milked. How often would that likely happen?
>crying because a spin-off that started as FFXIII-4 ended up being FFXIII-4
My biggest complaint about the game is the story.
You're suppose to care about Luna but you barely ever see her. All you know is that her and Noctis send messages to each other, are supposed to get married and then she dies. There wasn't enough character build up for me to care about her
Then stuff happens to each of your friends offscreen and nobody really cares. Gladiolus just leaves for no reason then comes back and they're like cool. Ignis loses his sight offscreen and they barely talk about it. Prompto gets kidnapped and somehow can now open doors with his wrists and they're like, alright we're friends.
Then the chapter where Ardyn falls off the train but is actually Prompto is so confusing that after you finish the chapter, they put up a loading screen to explain what the hell actually happened
Also, Chapter 13
It started as anti-XIII
the opposite of XIII
a challenger to XIII
a versus XIII if you will
>tfw I wasted almost two hours trying to exchange a gun for Prompto that wasn't shit
I'm 100% sure after KH3, Nomura will "retire". Maybe his name will still be somewhere for FF7R, but he'll effectively be gone.
Isn't Nomura on the FFVII Remake? I don't think hes actually even working on KH3 or only has a supervision role.
Yeah, even FFP had to shit on Square:
Ugh, leave. You don't deserve to be in a FFXV thread.
Imagine working yourself to exhaustion every night for a niche game that'll probably still sell pretty poorly, all things considered. Just imagine pic related
Nomura and Nojima will be in their 50's by the time they finish FFVII episodes.
It's dead, jim.
That guy fellates the fuck out of FFXV fuck him, hes as bad as ffxv-kun.
>and they barely talk about it
it's the major problem in the immediate next scene, but they don't verbally discuss it too much, true. i think that's just japanese obtuseness in action. the other shit is legitimate, especially prompto's fucked up backstory.
the date with iris was 2000% more meaningful to me than anything Luna
never been on a date but I hope it's sort of like that
>tfw no iris gf
Actually, he kind of fellates the idea of a Versus project in his newest video. I think his whole "I like XV" thing is just a front to cover his ass from fans. I think deep down, he's hurting and desperately wants Versus to see the light of day. Literally 10 years of his life were wasted away, researching, speculating, and discussing something that doesn't even exist anymore. I would kill myself desu.
With all the time Nomura was sent off to make spin-offs and concept art, it makes me wonder if Nomura had a solid idea of what 13 Versus was about.
I wish he would, but he probably got sort of a deal with Square:
"Finish KH3 and FFVII and we will give you a big budget new IP."
If I was him that would be the only thing that would make me stick with a shitty company.
With FF 8 you would probably have to draw random enemies for a GF.
>"I like XV"
Why is it that the fans of FFXV always list enough flaws to make it look like a steaming pile of shit and then turn around and say they liked it?
It's almost as if they, too, know how bad this game is deep down.
There is enough sugar coating to make it likable for some.
Everybody in the game is a fucking 10/10 sexy good looking model, looking at them doing shit is enough for some people, surprisingly.
This. Even Dean's stance on the game doesn't really add up, or seems very forced.
>"I personally really liked FFXV"
>It's by no means a perfect game. It's VERY DEEPLY FLAWED in MANY ASPECTS"
I think it really is the 10 year denial thing coming to play. They just can't brush off 10 years literal wasted effort and excitement, so they convince themselves really hard that they liked it.
There is shit in the game that's likable. It's impossible to completely throw that out.
In my case, I didn't follow the long lead in, so when the game finally dropped I just played it for what it was and enjoyed the first third (and postgame.)
its a bit silly, but i have wondered about the validity of pic related.
Can we kill Mat Kishimoto and his stupid Co-host?
I want to hatefuck his co host and hear her annoying bitch voice right in my ear.
Whoa, I never knew this before, but apparently they're engaged and expected to be wed this year what the fuck? I always thought Mat was gay.
Fuck this made me laugh.
damn, she's not bad looking at least. the man looks like a fucking troll, he coulda done worse.
a lot worse.
he could have nobody.
The problem is, the first roadtrip parts of the game are legitimatly fun. Hanging out with your bros, doing random quests and that kind of stuff. The down side starts when they try to get into the story, that part almost ruins any of the fun you had with the previous part it is so bad.
>"Mat's side of the story..."
>"It was April 2014 and I had just accepted an offer to move from sunny Los Angeles to beautiful rainy London for the next two years.
>"I was asked to interview a new girl to replace me. Replace me? Hah, shouldn't be hard. I think a dancing robot could do my job. Lo and behold, in walks Kaori to blow our socks off (and we all felt could do my job at least 27x over) and we all gladly requested her to be my replacement ASAP."
>"Me over in London, Kaori in LA, we went through waking up at odd hours in the night just to talk, long emails back and forth, creating a private blog, and then of course our day to day work chatter."
>"Over the rest of 2014, she became extremely attracted to me (naturally, am I right?) over the perfect mixture of Disneyland, sushi, hangouts during sunset, 90s hip hop sessions, and lots of coffee."
>"We got along so well, we decided to go to Japan, England, Italy......and then work brought me back to LA in June of 2015 for us to reconnect. And amidst the madness of traveling, foodventures, ninja kicks, work, more coffee, more traveling around the world, too many Disneyland trips to count, I thought in Sept of 2016, why not?"
>"Let's do it like Jagged Edge and Run DMC does. They get it."
God, he sounds like such an insufferable little cunt. Square Enix presents is always shit, but these two unfunny characters are always the cherry on top of the shitcake.
Holy kek, I've always kind of been on Nomura's back, but when you put it this way... The man has almost singlehandedly carried Square Enix for the past 5 years
true this man.
at least heaven is the endless road. god bless postgame. amen.
Is he still FF7R's director?
Yes
>“It was very perplexing. Then one day, as I was checking the internal company presentation video it said ‘Director Tetsuya Nomura’ at the end. I called up Mr. Kitase and said, ‘It says that I’m the director for some reason.’ To which he replied, ‘Of course it does.’”
Never forget.
I keep meaning to try out FFXIV because they changed the free trial from 2 weeks to a character level, i just haven't gotten around to it.
That description perfectly fits Drakengard, it sucks but it's still somehow good.
Poor lad can't catch a break.
Its more than the sum of it's parts, can't say the same for FFXV.
He's literally the only senior member left in the company with any kind of talent or vision whatsoever. Kitase has completely handed his reigns over to Motomu "worship my waifu" Toriyama, Nojima has proved multiple times over that his brain is mostly PCP by this point, the Gooch got the boot a decade ago, the rest of the old vanguard who worked on the original FF games and the MMOs got sudoku'd after Tanaka ruined XIV, Hiroyuki Ito is literally AWOL, and the unsung talents like Tatsuya Kando get shunted off to mobage garbage.
So we can't expect too much more from Square Enix after KH3/VIIR into the future then can we?
As if right now, KH3, 7 RE, and Avengers IP are the three main titles for 2018-2020
We'll know more about KH3 in a week or two at D23. Which means VIIR news is probably on the back burner until later this year or even next year. And do we know anything about the Marvel IP yet?
Prease be excited for Fainaru Fantaji 30th Anniversary... prease :-(
Did anything come from this?
>And do we know anything about the Marvel IP yet?
youtube.com
>More details on The Avengers project and other games will be announced in 2018
A fucking mug and cake
Thanks mate.
A delicious cake. BUT JAPAN ONLY FIRTHY AMERIKANNU PIGGU!
Nomura's being really weird with kh3 news at d23, first by saying it's going to please everyone and then later saying please don't get too excited.
7Re will show up in at tgs, jump fiesta or the playstation experience probably
When they announced the Avengers IP, they said there wouldn't be any more info until 2018
Maybe we'll get something in December?
You'll get my foot up your ass and then you'll buy the season pass to find out why it happened.
Oh good point, we'll probably get FFXV Complete Edition.
so what happened to xv-kun?
Friendly reminder that Japan got a Anniversary Collection for 25th, packing all the main games, music, and exclusive art from Amano.
Don't worry he'll show up eventually
Ok so what's the point of this thread again? We already established FF15 was shit.
Just discussing the sad state of Final Fantasy and SE
We already know XV is shit
Now we have to understand why it was shit
>developing FF13
>hear about story games being the new thing
>make FF13 super linear and story-focused
>game releases just in time for the movie game meme to be dying out
>game is trashed
>start developing FF15
>not learning from their mistakes, once again look at what's popular instead of doing their own thing creatively
>open world is the cool new thing with Skyrim and so on being super popular
>decide to make FF15 just like this, with little quest hubs and a huge offline MMO feel
>game is released, once again, just as the open world meme is dying
>game gets trashed, again
There are probably higher ups who keep telling them to follow the patterns in western markets instead of doing what they're good at: making simple JRPGs. They heard linear was good, so they made 13; then they heard non-linear was good, so they made 15. They should stop trying to copy what's 'in' at the time.
Hopefully he killed himself or at least was locked away in a mental asylum.
Damn that looks awesome.
>tl;dr posts that no one has time for
>phone/vpn posting to artificially generate discussion
>deflect by calling out [insert name here]
>get paid by square enix to continue schilling a substandard jrpg here
>lather. rinse. repeat, ad nauseam
There I just saved you guys several hours of faggotry your welcome.
does anyone want my ultimate "this triggers the xv-kun" image folder?
Have we? Every time you asy something bad about it autist-kun jumps in debating everyone. Neogaf stole our thunder has like a 10 age thread about why FFXV sucks.
>inb4 neogaf
Someone linked it last thread.
Is it full of
>old xv-kun screencaps of times where he made shit up, said something retarded, or just made a fool out himself in general
>xv webms that show how clunky the game is
I genuinely think it's over for him. XV is such a joke now, not even the craziest of fanboys can keep up their side of the fight.
>neogaf shitting on XV
>all the biggest normie FF YTbers and face of the community are depressed and wavering on XV and SE;literally wouldn't mind a Versus game
>XV threads on Sup Forums rarely even thrive anymore, even in the midst of new news or DLC; anons are just generally fed up with XV
>gamefaqs XV board is dying
This saga is ending.
Tin foil hat.
This is true. It'll spark a revival of interest if it releases on Steam, or they announce the inevitable Ultimate Edition with all the DLC but then die out pretty quickly again.
I wonder if they'll look at making a FFXVI for beyond 2020.
yes
They will. XV sold well enough here and proved to them that there's still potential for the series in the AAA console market, but like XV (because it worked out so well for them) it'll be heavily aimed towards the west as far as design philosophy goes, because Japan's console market is dwindling. In fact, XV had very low launch week numbers and didn't even hit one million sales until late January, whereas other mainline games in the series hit it in their launch week. It'll also have an aggressive, often deceptive marketing campaign targeted towards the west, like XV. I wouldn't even count out a XVI Universe kind of thing before the game even releases because it worked out for them with XV.
Well that's disappointing to hear. I'm actually gonna pray that your prediction ends up wrong. I was really hoping they'd go back in the opposite direction after the last few FF games.
