What's the deal with Nintendo and these shitty low budget 2.5D games?

What's the deal with Nintendo and these shitty low budget 2.5D games?

Why don't they make more 3D games?

Seems like the only 3D games they make are Mario, Splatoon and Zelda

what kind of fucking retarded question is this

>Asking Nintendo to make modern games.

Please.

Low budgets, makes money.

>I want every game to have the same shitty muh realism uncanny valley art style

2d platformers are easier to do than 3D Platformers.

What would a fully 3D Yoshi be like anyway?

That boy has a massive fucking face.

Why do they need to make more 3D games than they already do?

>Mental gymnastics.

You'd love it if Nintendo made a console with graphics better than the PS4 Pro. Suddenly graphics would matter. You'd shitpost endlessly. All the toddlers would.

are you mad that Nintendo wants to print money?

...

...

How would Kirby even work in full 3D?

>literally the same fucking kirby and yoshi again
confirmed to be trash tier IP
Sad to see Kirby in that state also fuck Yoshi.

Not a big fan of the recent Yoshi games but Kirby is fucking excellent.
Currently playing through Planet Robobot and it's even better at Triple Deluxe. I'm glad they're doing a classic Kirby for Switch.

Yazoo!

>low budget

Don't talk shit about Hal

Your ignoring that Nintendo is doing everything right by having a mix of different gameplay styles that pleases multiple fans at the same time

...

inb4 open world of the kind these people haven't gotten tired yet. or platinum games.

>You'd love it
Nah nigga. I already own a PS4. I play Nintendo games because I think they're fun, not because of some impressive visuals.

the thread is not even about botw
what the fuck is wrong with you?

Wouldn't Kirbys ability to float everywhere kinda fuck up a 3D platformer?

If it ain't broke, why fix it?

Kirby always makes fun changes to the formula while also getting better in it's execution

I would rather they continue this slow and steady stream than to have the series aggro into something completely shit

We just had Kirby Mass Attack and Rainbow Curse

They could nerf it, have it be like smash brothers.

Powerful computing doesn't preclude a good art style.

Planet Robobot is pretty great. I think it changes up the visuals and gameplay just enough to where it doesn't feel EXACTLY like Return to Dreamland 3. Triple Deluxe felt like a shittier RtDL.

Kirby spinoffs almost always suck ass like Epic Yarn and Rainbow Curse.

Yeah like that's any better.

Wouldn't make a difference to me if the games were shitty like PS4 games

>Implying Mario is suddenly going to go Ultra realistic graphics

Your a fucking moron

>Epic Yarn
>Bad

Ill give you Rainbow Cruse though. It really should have been a 3ds title.

Horizon's art design is dope. The clothing is the most exotic I've ever seen. Way better than every other modern fantasy game.

That's funny coming from the fanbase that suddenly cries about how graphics don't matter when PC gets involved.

You seem to have the idea that Nintendo with good hardware would equal them churning out realistic games

Your not only wrong, but your a fucking dumbass for implying it

There is a saying that it's easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. The answer to OP's question is analogous to that: it's easier to convince people a game is good than it is to make a good game.

Or like it was in Crystal Shards, you can only fly a few times before Kirby runs out of breath

It's because the Kirby spin offs like Mass Attack and Rainbow Curse always sell like half what the regular games do, probably because they don't have copy abilities

3D Rumble and Blowout Blast appear to be using a simpler scale of one of the canceled Gamecube Kirby games, so probably something like that.

Horizon Zero Dawn is great yes

But that's not what art style is

You must be AMAZING at parties.

You can have good graphics and colorful, unrealistic art design at the same time. Stop with the mental gymnastics. You'd love a powerful Nintendo console, and you'd shitpost endlessly. You'd post Zelda and Metroid Prime screenshots that BTFO the PS4 Pro. Suddenly graphics would matter.

Just admit it, retards.

Because the 2D ones tend to sell much better than the 3D ones.

The minigame in Robobot has the controls down perfectly. Just add copy abilities and have better level design.

...

I think that it runs out in Robobot as well.

>Low budget
Isn't the new Yoshi game made in Unreal 4?

>parties
I went to one of those once, and I didn't like it. The music was too loud, my feet hurt, and I was hungry. I prefer to be at home discussing video games.

Only 3D Rumble, I think.

Nah I'm not gonna admit something that isn't true
I don't really care about the graphics much at all, I care a lot about the art style, though, like Nintendoland's art style

>We won't get a 3D kirbs until late in the Switch's life span because of Kirby Switch

Fug :((((

>Isometric Kirby game that looks cel-shaded
I could get behind that.

Yes.

You're a liar. If Metroid Prime 4 had state of the art graphics (like the original), you'd fucking jizz.

Lmao who plays consoles for graphics

I bet you think Tropical Freeze was a shitty low budget 2.5 game. Faggot.

Blowout Blast shows there's potential, they just need to add abilities and maybe make it more normal/ambitious.
Also, it seems like they experimented with cel-shading for a bit. Bit of a shame it didn't get used.

It was.

Oh boy, it's the same thread. Again.

The Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2 and it still had mostly babby games.

Explain how. It looks fucking great for a WiiU title.

>What's the deal with Nintendo and these shitty low budget 2.5D games?
They are low budget, high returns.
Capcom does the same thing with monster hunter.
They give the development team pennies to make a new mohan and it prints them money.

Because 3DPD.

>also fuck Yoshi.

Why does everyone bully the Yoshi series so hard? Woolly World is actually the best game since Island, and the new one for the Switch alright so far.

you mean like the gamecube?

>Seems like the only 3D games they make are Mario, Splatoon and Zelda

Metroid Prime
Fire Emblem
Pikmin
Animal Crossing
Xenoblade
Mario Kart
ARMS

Also, Triple Deluxe got kind of tedious after a while whereas Robobot manages to mix it up from time to time with some pretty neat ideas in terms of level design.

They're probably just burned off of Yoshis new Island and Thebes yoshi clan music.

Wooly world was a decent game.

>Rainbow Curse has a unique artstyle and gameplay
>It tanks and only sells 500k worldwide
>Triple Deluxe is pretty much a RTDL port
>Sells 2m worldwide
Gee I wonder why they only make the 2.5d low budget games

Modern games are hardly games. I wouldn't want Nintendo to make them even if they had the hardware power of an high end PC at their disposal.

>shitty low budget 2.5D games?

Do you know anything about how video games work?

Not everyone is a graphics whore. The industry would be better off if everything still looked like a PS2 game and devs knew how to optimize.

Why do you fags think I'm implying I want realistic Nintendo games? I know that half their shit is cartoon garbage. You can still have that with a powerful console. On the other hand, you can have F-Zero with state of the art graphics. Zelda. Metroid Prime.

What's wrong with cartoons?

Not everything has to be 3D

This. F-Zero GX looks nice today and it has fairly realistic graphics.

I totally would, just so the Sony shitposters would shut the fuck up, since they do it too

Maybe after the Switch game that seems to work like the cancelled gamecube game they could do something like that

I'm honestly tired of Kirby these days.

stop visiting those threads then.

>No run button or double tap, adjusting movement speed depends on how far you hold the analog stick forward
-Move the camera wherever you want to, camera shouldn't be too close to Kirby (unless you want it to be) so you can be very aware of his surroundings
>For powers, each unused face button uses different attacks for multi-move abilities to translate to 3D
-Limited flight
>Levels are big and wide, designed both vertically and horizontally with Kirby's abilities in mind, they should be big playgrounds with plenty to accomplish, branching pathways, or a few end points, tons of enemies
-Some levels are linear obstacle courses designed around a certain power and/or friends
>Kirby's inhale works similarly to Yoshi's lick in SMG2
-KDL3/Epic Yarn style side/background characters that behave like NPCs in OoT or Mario Odyssey, to make the word feel alive and to open up side-goal potential. Kirby's world is full of cute characters, it would be nice to have some meaningful interaction with them
>The original 3 DL2 friends with Kirby's multi-move powers
-Riding Rick grants quicker running, immunity to slippery surfaces, and wall-jumps, but you're a bigger target with less precise attacks
>Riding Coo grants maneuverability in the air, and you can go higher and stay in the air longer, but it's harder to master the controls and again you're a bigger target. A bit slower on the ground.
-Kine makes swimming fast and easy, his powers are strong, but he's clumsy on land. Jumps well enough though
>Not a huge amount of copy abilities, avoiding redundant ones, but the ones that are in the game can be leveled up several times as you progress and each power is versatile
-Collectable treasure, things to decorate your little house with or grant you gameplay bonuses, like a stronger inhale, faster slide kick, better fire ability, new hats, new weapons, power scrolls, pain cans, etc
>Most enemies, locations, and characters should be totally new

Was that post meant for someone else?

>yoshi pooping out eggs in 3D

no.

Did the snes not exist? Did the Gamecube not exist? Did the Wii U not exist prior to Sonybro4/Bone?

idk, but i hope it comes with smellovision, haha

>isometric, clunky minigame that ends up being less satisfying than the first game
Pls no, I want real 3D.
Blowout Blast is one of the weakest attempts at bringing a franchise to 3D that I've ever seen, and probably the worst Kirby game after the freemium one.

Oh okay, I was just confused because it was so retarded.

>proving the point that the pic tried to make
Nice.

Because you'll buy it anyways.

>What's the deal with Nintendo and these shitty low budget 2.5D games?
>Why don't they make more 3D games?
causals dont want 3d gamess, they want 2d games

I agree with the op. Nintendo has been relying too heavily on 2D platformers for the past two generations. They wasted development time on the New Super Mario Bros series, put Retro in charge of Donkey Kong Country, outsourced the Yoshi series, and are currently outourcing the Pikmin series to make a shitty spin-off. While I agree HAL, Good-Feel, and Retro are doing a great job with Kirby, DKC, and Woolly World, they are wasting three of their second-party devs to produce a genre that has huge competition with smaller, cheaper indie devs.

no, because the point of a 3d platformer is exploration

>Kirby spinoffs almost always suck ass l
nigga wut? kirby spinoffs are better than mainline kirby

It would be interesting to see a fully 3D Kirby or Yoshi game, but it won't happen anytime soon. Neither series takes any major creative risks, mainly Kirby though.

Mainline Kirby is so stale, this new game looks like an HD Return to Dreamland, nothing new.
