I've never actually even seen the vanilla UI so I didn't recognize it. I had heard it was unplayable on release like every Civ game seems to be now.

The worst part about Civ VI is that it wasn't notably good or bad. Just felt really mediocre.

Thats my problem with civ 5 and 6. The maps always look really bland and uninteresting. It always tries to force the two continent meme and if it cant you just get X number of circles equidistant apart. None of the map gens are interesting at all and it kills my drive to play the game.

its the best vanilla Civ release yet, if that means anything to you or me that is, so when it gets to Brave new world number of Xpacs, it should be really really good

How can you not have won already. There's absolutely no excuse. You could stock up on nukes, then sweep through any country with the units you have. Your happiness is not even an issue. Just raze.

You could also have fixed your negative gold income by deleting all those workers you're not even using anymore. Also, what the hell are your idle Great Engineer and Great Merchant doing? Why do you have a Settler at this point in the game?

I don't like Pangaea because of the power balances islands create. I also like having that age buffer that stops civs from snowballing from just eating everyone. The water forces them and the player to deal with the local vicinity first instead of just going after the weakest. It also gives the A.I. a lot more chances to grow with the player instead of just staying small as fuck because they have 3 allies next to them creating a huge cold war between all the A.I. while you just slowly eat everything.

i sent like 10 nukes at japan. i killed their armies but their cities are fucking invincible. cities healed and made a new army in less than 5 turns

Civ V is shit, play Civ IV instead.
