So who sent out the letter? The Ancestor, to lure you in, or some other descendant of his? And speaking of which, are you supposed to be directly descended from him or just some other family members?

SAVE US
Sup Forums IS INFECTED WITH BLOOD PLAGUE
Sup Forums is RIP'd so i'll hang out in this thread so I guess fuck RNG?
I have yet to do the starter quest, going week 30. The crimson curse can suck my dick for the moment
What?
Everyone is an ancestor of everyone, thats why you fight different versions of the same boss and have multiple characters of the same class, you will become the ancestor years later and sent a letter to yourself, to get the endless cycle until someone fails and the world dies
...
only do the quest when your roster is mostly levels 3 and 4, no reason to risk i if you have people under 3
...
>multiple characters of the same class
What? The heroes aren't descendants. They're just people who have come for various reasons explained in their comics. The reason for them being in multiples is game balance.
The game even says "reynauld and dismas escorted YOU to the hamlet" you're the only descendant.
If the Shambler or the Collector had their own 3 tiers and arenas, what do you think their narration would be?
why are furniggers always the ones doing raids?
just finished dd4 on non-dlc darkest, i reckon i'll wait for the second dlc to come out before i start a new playthrough (probably on bloodmoon/whatever the equivalent is)
any news on what the second dlc will be?
how does the bearer's helmet even work
there will be more Reynaulds and more Dismas, to escort your descendant to the hamlet years later m8
Who else wanted the Countess as a hero?
That's weird, I'm not seeing anything in the catalog and I don't have any threads hidden either.
/vg/ got hit not long ago, my guess is it's making the rounds. Someone upset and autist somewhere
It was all deleted, barely lasted a minute
that's conjecture.
You don't become the ancestor, but one of your descendants will eventually.
i do know now. First run i i it week 6 or so, and eventually 75% of my dudes where vampire an i was stuck raiding the wine crate every secon run to keep them from wasting away. And, by that point, my shit was grinding to a halt since i couln't go for trinket an deeds runs
She's literally just a giant bug
I think you are directly descended from him.
There are two possibilities. Either you are in his direct bloodline son/ grandson that's why you directly answer his call and come to safe hamlet and the estates.
Or you are a distant relative and all other of his offspring either died coming to hamlet or trying to fix his mistakes and you are the last possible or available for that task. But they could have weaved that into the story.
Did the ancestor rape all his maids?
It's Bui, he actually only raids /vp/, why he was on Sup Forums is the real question.
Do you get extra blueprints eventually or it's only the 1 you get early?
he got /vg/ as well
So, is starting a new game with the dlc disabled, and enabling it when you start getting parties to yellow tier dungeons the only way to properly see the dlc ?
DLC isn't out for Ps4\vita yet. It'll be awhile before we hear anything.
> In time, you will know the tragic extent of my failings.
Yeah no fucking shit, you son of a whore
isn't there an option to choose if you want to play with dlc when you start a new game?
How much easier is Radiant mode compared the the default? I got the game a couple days ago and selected Radiant because the game suggested it (and I'd heard DD is hard as hell) but after getting the hang of everything with a couple of disastrous runs I haven't failed a quest or taken any losses in what must be over a dozen weeks now.
Are the memes exaggerating, or is it because Radiant basically holds your hand?
There is. What I mean is that if you start a new game with everything enabled, mosquito swarms will show up on week 3 and promptly fuck up your hamlet every week with the 10% reduced stress recovery crap until you do the courtyard quest. Which you're in absolutely no shape to do in a new game during the first weeks
To be fair, trying to kill the Countess was probably the most intelligent thing he did.
>mfw workshop fucked my mods i downloaded from nexus
>mfw Workshop won't have Darkest Desires (Camp Sex mod)
>mfw no bandaged Plague doctor
Just wait
Literally nothing is different in Radiant mode aside from the cost of building, skill, and armor/weapon upgrades is cheaper.
The stats for all characters, enemies, and everything are the same.
It mostly negates the middle portion of the game where it's a slog to get more gold.
What exactly did he mean by this?
He willingly did all the bad shit knowing exactly what would happen and he ultimately succeeds.
Was he lying just to mess with the player?
So is this a fun game and can I play it on a potato laptop?
>no bandaged Plague doctor
The skin with the bloody bandages, stitched wounds and dark mask-less hood? It's on the workshop, take a look around manually. Retards didn't tag every skin mod under "skins"
>Darkest Desires
wat
no, yes
>not wanting a giant bug hero
He wants /vp/ deleted or turned into a red board according to a couple threads that have asked. He's been doing it to /vp/ daily.
>Which you're in absolutely no shape to do in a new game during the first weeks
I did the first courtyard quest in two tries before I even killed two bosses, and I wasn't powerleveling any characters or anything. I think I took 3 level 3's and 1 level 2 in.
first time I got to the alligator and lost a hero trying to fight since I was unprepared.
came back and won and finished the mission.
how many times have you tried it? because it's certainly not achievable early on.
Didn't the Ancestor start off with good intentions, than it was a spiral into what happened?
Did he wake up the world and is hoping you can put it back to sleep?
Sure, but remember that the first quest in the courtyard is a level 1 dungeon. It's not that hard, believe or not.
>Didn't the Ancestor start off with good intentions
If you play CC is clear as fuck he did just cuz he feels like it
>Ancestor start off with good intentions
nope, even prior to starting his quest to make his waifu real, he was stated as being one of the many members of the Courtyard, who were clearly morally bankrupt as fuck.
>bone banner guy has the holy symbol on his helmet
>level 5 flagellant carves the symbol of the heart of the world on his chest
The god the church worships is the heart, isn't it?
Nah, he knew all that shit below the manor would fuck things up, but he did it anyway because he was bored.
No good intentions, he was rotten to the core before knowing what rests beneath the manor and finding out the truth only made him worse.
>Did he wake up the world and is hoping you can put it back to sleep?
Literally the opposite, he only summoned you to bring tons of death which will only speed up the inevitable end.
the problem is not that quest, is unleashing the bloodsuckers into normal dungeons, plus the hidden crocodilian will fuck the average player
He DID try to kill the Countess though, so he's got that going for him.
I always figured that the Light was simply another celestial on the level of the Heart that simply opposed the Heart. As to whether the Light did it out of compassion for man or as just a move in the cosmic game of chess with no regard for the meatsacks is up to anyone's guess.
yeah but he did it because A) he recognized the countess as being up to no good, and pretty much wanted to stab her only to show off how fucking cool he was for his friends and
B) he bottled her fucking blood and feed it to his "friends," as if that would lead to anything good.
Just once for now, currently preparing for a second try. The game does tell you "it's adviced to bring at least level 1 and 2 heroes", but shit is way above them
I just bought this game after ignoring it at the behest of some people in a Steam Sale thread. Not too far in, but having a great time so far.
Currently, my favorite classes are Flagellant, and Occultist (that heal goddamn). I scrapped my first campaign because I kept using AOEs for efficiency's sake and lost all of my first 4 expeditions in a row.
By the way, is Houndmaster always shit for damage? I put him in 4 position and his damage is JUST SO MEDIOCRE. Granted, I never use his AOE bleed because I haven't finished Ruins yet.
>occultist
0
Bleed
So do the hallucinations after the first Darkest dungeon quest ever go away, or do they just get worse? The flashing is quite annoying.
the Houndmaster's main advantage is his mastery in just about everything. He can stay in any rank and attack any rank ,and can fill any role outside of healing party members. Trinkets and marks for death can help offset the damage but frankly I don't even consider it that much of a disadvantage because his overall strength in any situation makes him one of the strongest classes in the game.
THE FLESH IS KNIT
first person you linked; I would bet it is still very possible to do it with sub-level 3 heroes. like I said, I didn't have any heroes that were recommended for mid-range dungeons with me and I cleared it just fine after some thought and prep.
just treat it as you did when you went into other locations for the first time.
overstock on items, bring some of everything, think about the enemies you encounter and how you can cover your weak spots.
do that and you'll be more than fine.
Houndmaster works best in a party with many potential markers & people profiting from marks (Arbalest, Houndmaster, Bounty Hunter for marking&profiting, Occultist for just marking) as it increases his damage. He's also a very versatile character, having access to most of his skills in pretty much any position, being able to guard and remove stress, etc.
Also don't forget about the fucking cookies.
>hallucinations
Now you will begin to see things as they truly are.
FUCK the fanatic
>Flagellant, and Occultist (that heal goddamn).
This, I almost find them essencsial in champion dungeons.
>AOEs for efficiency's sake
Ugh...
>Houndmaster always shit for damage?
Just give him Cresendo box/Dismas head/any damage item and he is good. He even dots for 2 dmg. His defence is really good especially when you mass dodge and he is useful in literally any position so enemies shuffling him won't make much difference.
AoE is pretty bad, use him for practically anything else. good with a party that does marked bonus dmg. also don't forget about those doggie biscuits. they are very limited, but you can end almost any regular fight in two rounds or less with the proper setup and the use of one.
>Houndmaster
>shit for damage
hound's rush is a respectable damage+bleed, and scooby snax let him hit like a truck on marked foes
not to mention his other loads of utility, like being able to dodgetank and reducing enemy prot
Yeah, missing supplies was what actually got me, geared up for what I expected to be a 0x campfires "short" dungeon. Also, the fact I'm early enough to not even be able to improve weapons and armor is something I'm really really noticing. Just wanna learn how the new area works before I risk my main save in
Now you witness essence of the soul and you are not satisfied? Maybe because it's not what you expected though can you blame other character from going cray after they start seeing the truth.
Get out of this thread if you dont like it
Never said I don't like it
just make a suicide run to learn the new area/enemies and then adapt your playstyle. DD is not a very hard game, but mistakes get compounded very easily. it's one of the reason why the ancestor is quoted so much; his quotes are actually accurate to the gameplay.
There are no hallucinations.
>hallucinations
even now this fool denies the truth.
And you base this on what?
Ideas for new classes?
I want a optimistic pure hero with stress release focus skills. Something like jester.
Nah Ancestor was just a fucking asshole from the start
To list it off
>Wants to kill lady at the party (granted she was up to no good as he thought but the reason he did it was simply for "sport")
>After finding out she was a crazy monster he decides it would be a fun idea to bottle up her blood and serve it as wine to his rich pals. Then again he and his rich pals were a bunch of wacky rich fucks so I think they thought it was neat at first until things went fucking horrible.
>Senses the horrible shit after taking the monster wine and decides to unearth it for knowledge and because he was bored.
>Hires a bunch of criminals to go on a murder spree so he can have an easier time managing the town
>Heads a cult of necromancers and has them raise each other as undead as well as others
>Summons monstrous eldritch demons
>Sacrifices a girl to Innsmouth fish people without a care for some money so he can continue unearthing the thing that will kill everything
>Tries to kill a prophet who is rightfully trying to warn people that he would bring doom to the world and then eventually drives him insane by showing him the thing he is trying to help / unearth or whatever
>Personally behind every major boss except (arguably) the hag who he just kicked out after she started experimenting on herself
I want the next dlc to be aquatically themed, maybe even having to venture into open seas/underwater to fight whatever force is allowing the Pelagics to keep coming into the hamlet. New hero could be a mariner of some sort. Alternatively, something Voodoo themed.
Thanks for the summary
I never got very far in this and had been leaning towards just reading up on the lore for a while
Should I have not started the game with the dlc checked?
The only news I get in town is about the dlc quest which I think might be fucking me over for my first playthrough
>mfw I hoped for a vampire hunter new hero class but got the flagellant instead
I mean, it's not bad, but...
Vampire Hunter is the miniboss, user.
I am still waiting for gog to catch up with steam version so the vintets actually gives you 2 blood vials per week and you can now actually farm the blood.
>lost 3 heroes already to blood curse
The most gruesome part was when my only damage dealer: leper died out of fucking nowhere from blood curse. I though it just gives you penalties or even then it would use death door mechanics.
Nope. He was just walking corridor and dropped dead.
>still finished that run only to find out two other heroes dies at town
Pretty anticlimatic let me tell you. And blood drops are super rare except when you are in baron area.
This is the only time i am angry at buying game at gog and not at steam.
>What party do i need to kill baron?
Mark party? Shuffle party? Bleed party?
Baron is more of a gimmick boss than anything else. He's one of those cup game bosses that hides under egg nests. If any egg is damaged it spawns an enemy or the Baron. The strategy I comfortably beat him with was to attack the eggs one by one (ANY damage on an egg will reveal the enemy underneath, so attacking multiple eggs means you'll get swarmed by the Baron AND extra enemies, DON'T DO IT) and take out the enemies lying underneath. The Baron himself can hit hard on single targets but nothing you can't heal. Also as long as any egg is around, moves that heal in anyways can not be used, so be cautious.
If only. Ancestor is so fucked up that in his case rape would be being too kind.
Certain veteran and harder bosses drop it. It is rare. Build house for 2 free vials first so you can start the quest with blood.
It is really good if you dont get attached to your heroes.
>it is like giving pigs and cows names only later to find yourself unable to slaughter them
> Having heroes wasting to the Crimson Curse
user its not even that hard to manage
>What party do i need to kill Baron?
Riposte party basically HWM and MAA and two other classes, preferably a reliable healer such as Vestal and maybe a GR or PD to counteract the riposte damage debuff. Pop one egg at a time and hope its not Baron then clear the minion inside, if it is just try and pop all the eggs without getting swarmed so you can start your heals. Baron has 4? (might be 3) turns per round and he enjoys spamming his AOE ability which hits for around 4 damage per party member, with double riposte (without any PD Buffs) you should be doing around 15 riposte damage whenever he does his AOE, so basically your Vestal should heal off his attacks, your MAA and HWM should refresh their ripostes every now and then and deal with the enemies then go for baron and your PD or GR can deal with Baron or minions. Honestly, the Baron isn't that hard its his minions and the fact you can't heal often that makes it difficult.
So how many will you get? Can you get every district eventually?
>fun
relatively. it all starts out fine and dandy but imagine you're playing xcom but the enemy has even more ways to fuck you over, you will eventually run into some serious bullshit
>camping
>have a feast
>done camping
>take two steps
>your party is hungry
>mfw
Literally who?
>Being stingy with money so much you run out of food
cheap, so bring loads, all food slots will be empty by the end of the dungeon anyways so worry about slots is never an issue
cant hunt the good hunt on a empty stomach
we had a feast. A FEAST
...
>not even hard hard to manage
I am in ~35 weeks, killed all green bosses and had like 8 blood vials so far while having 10 cursed heroes despite built vinters at week 15.
Luckily heroes can wasting pretty long at town.
I guess so, i presume almost every hard boss gives you one so you can eventually build everything.
The hunger mechanic and shovels can fuck you up good. So whatever you do, always have food and shovels ready.
Anyone else wanted him as a character? Big fucking angry priest with a mace.
