Feels good, bros. Battleborn welcomes you all with open arms!

Why move there when Quake Champions is on the rise?
There's also Paladins.
Though I'm sure most will just move over the CS:GO because that's where the money is.
I've also heard positive things about Lawbreakers.
Battleborn is my favourite billion dollar franchise.
>suffocate your own scene by announcing a serious league a year before it's ready
>ask for ridiculous amounts of money for a spot in said league
Not sure what Blizzard expected but now even some decent teams are dropping out.
Finally! haha. I for one cannot WAIT for this great game to grow! Anybody else have a good Steam sales..?
Leave it to Blizzard to snatch defeat from the etc.
They'll have another SC2 if they're not careful, but OW is still pretty popular so we'll see.
>overwatch pro scene is dying
how did blizzard fuck up this time
I know I left Overwatch for Battleborn.
Finally.. I feel like a badass
Thank you for this gift, Randy
blizzard artificially keeps their competitive scenes alive by pumping a shitload of money into them and as soon as they stop people leave.
>when Quake Champions is on the rise?
HAHAHAHAHAHA
muh dive meta
muh roadhog is dead
muh SR
muh toxic players
take your pick
Do you have any links on this sort of stuff? I don't want you to be wrong
at least those players aren't wasting their talent on casual shit now. Battle born still sucks.
>when a free game btfo blizzard
Hahahahahahaha
Overwatch needs to stop trying to get that e-sports dosh. They missed out on it and it's time to move on. This is just pathetic.
>Try to push WoW as an e-sports
>Horribly balanced and is a joke
>Try to push Hearthstone as an e-sports
>Is the most casual card game ever
>Try to push HotS as an e-sports
>It fails miserably because it has to compete with Dota 2 and LoL
>Try to push Overwatch as an e-sports
>It dies down dramatically within a year because every single game is relatively the same and he skill ceiling is far too low and unrewarding to make the really hardcore people stick with it
eurogamer.net
Here's an image of all the teams that have dropped out this year as well.

Blizzard balances around quick play and not around competitive
Blizzard charges 20 million burgers for teams to get in their league that barely gets a tenth of the viewers League/Dota/cs:go get
Whichever one has no tanks and healers is the one I'll play. Healers and tanks in fps games is fucking cancer.
>CSGO
>MONEY
Theres no real money in anything except dota
The average pro of cs:go and lol do get a 6 figure yearly salary though
>For a top level CS:GO team who will be consistently performing at a top level at major tournaments, salaries are between $7,000 and $10,000, a figure that he believes is about right for now as the market stands.
Compare that to a 20 million dollar prize pool
>So what is the counter to this? Basically nothing. McCree? D.Va would sit in his face.
>Actually believing that the winning team will get the full cash pool without taxes and other fees.
The new Quake is shit, everyone lost interest
Nobody said they got the full pool you fat retard
>20 million dollars league fee
>for a fucking video game
only blizzard could be this dumb
Why is Blizzard so dumb? All their esports shit is dying on all fronts and they think they can get away with charging millions?
>they expected blizzard to actually balance a game
They have been working on WoW for like 10 years and it has never been balanced
>blizz couldn't balance wow for years
>people thought ow would be balanced
Was SC2 ever balanced? What was the last game blizz made that had decent balance, BW?
20 million for a team to enter the scene? Is that a real figure? Where does that money go, are the prize pools HUGE?
>muh toxic players
Exists in every game, you're right about everything else though, it's why I stopped playing for a while. I loved playing roadhog (though I can play everyone else equally well and have nearly equal hours for every hero except mercy) and he was in a fine spot before jeff decided to nerf him because "muh 1hko" (meanwhile, hanzo scatter still exists). It's a pathetic reason to hide behind when the real reason is that the low mmr community constantly bitched about him.
I was already having some trouble getting roadhog to work in masters against other master player counters (tracer, zarya, solider, anyone decent enough to bait/dodge hooks). His win rate and pick rate was right in the middle of all the heroes.
No game should balance from the bottom and cater to complainers. Games have to balance at the highest level (arguably the pro scene) to get the meta changing and refrain from unnecessary nerfs or buffs
was WC3 ever considered balanced?
That's what espn reported. Nobody outside of the bidders have any idea of what's going with the specifics though.
>Multiple sources said Blizzard is asking for a $20 million franchise fee for the league featuring its popular 2016 game, with prices escalating from there in larger markets such as New York and Los Angeles. However, following the $20 million buy-in, teams are not guaranteed revenue sharing until after 2021 and only if Blizzard meets certain criteria that sources did not disclose to ESPN. Additionally, sources said if a team sells its spot to another party, the league would receive 25 percent of the proceeds.
>this is what """esports""" has done to video games
>E-sports even existing at all
Can't people just enjoy what they do without fagging with competitive bullshit?
Hum and Elf are top tier, UD and Orc are bad
>Was SC2 ever balanced?
Not really. It had a much higher skillcap though so it was harder to tell which race was actually OP. Terrans did have some bullshit early game rushes that were really hard to survive through, not sure what the game is like these days
blizzard can't into esports
>Not changing the meta every 2 or 3 weeks by introducing new champions and nerfing possible powercreeps.
youtu.be
No wonder OW is dying meanwhile Paladins is growing pretty fast both in PC and console.
Esports or not, balance has to be at the highest level. I don't follow the overwatch competitive scene, or any "competitive' scene for games I play, but from what I know, the dive meta comes from pros finding what works very well (and easy to do).
I know this was the reason for triple tank also. Like it or not, after a certain mmr you have to follow meta or lose because that's what your team is doing, and unfortunately in most cases the only counter is having the exact thing (dive vs dive, 3 tank vs 3 tank).
Shit sucks and it gets stale, but it is what it is
cs go buyouts are over a million now you stupid retard, they make way more than that + prize money + sticker money
E-sports have existed for decades now, there will always be a competitive nature in multiplayer games and until something horrible happens it will keep getting bigger
That video title gave me cancer
I've always thought about how dumbfuck a company like Blizzard is when its literally been 10 years and counting and the game is still not balanced. It's their fuckin job to do such a mundane task and never have they ever completed that task.
Overwatch has always been a bad game. Blizzard's strong fanbase is the only reason the game sold well.
the skill ceiling just isn't high enough
can someone give me the full rundown on what happened to the competitive overwatch scene? I mean the big streamers are still there, but maybe it's just cognitive bias, it seems like there's just less pro stuff going on.
Sticker money is huge as far as I know. In league the team icons money isn't even comparable from what pros have said, however Riot does pay a 75k salary, that + the salary from the org +sponsors and streaming. In Dota2 unless you are winning tournaments you don't get much money AFAIK
The game might be actual fun to play if every character could actually fight back. I felt this way in TF2 with all the characters.
pick the same 6 heroes every time or you lose
too bad it controls like utter shit and it looks shit. And its made by a b-tier dev team
Low TTK
Bad balancing
Chokepoints
Ultimates are dumbed down so even idiots can get free kills
Stale meta with no counters
Each champions has only ONE playstyle, no room for creativity.
Slow updates
Sup Forums is exaggerating as usual user don't mind them
but the overwatch scene doesn't have longevity from where I'm standing unless they start punishing the mindless core competitive gameplay where it's all about spamming at choke points until ults are up.
I think they will eventually, if Jeff hasn't lost his edge, but it needs to change ASAP before another game that's actually good (lawbreakers babies kys, TF3 never) comes out.
Valve pays the taxes on the TI prizepool.
>win the international
>get juuust enough money to buy in to the Overwatch scene
The Overwatch Community is shit because Blizzard made the game in such a way that there's no way to enforce social rules.
The reason TF2 didn't have this problem, was community servers. There was one server that played Balloon race, 1 server that hosted Convoy, and if I wanted to play those maps I had to not piss people off, because if I did I would never be able to play that map again.
The people you play with in Overwatch you'll never see again, so you have an incentive to be an asshole because no consequences.
>tfw you predicted the esports side will fail as soon as they started pushing for it
i feel like overwatch is a good game if you were a streamer, you got to ride out the big twitch dosh wave and prob for another year or so but that's all i think will last
when the cards come down to the table blizzard just has absolutely fucking horrendous decision making when it comes to balancing
Actually it's a really bad game if you're a streamer because you lose the more you pay attention to chat.
Black Desert was a much better choice for casual streamers, it's still on first page for some fucking reason.
But if you got in during Hearthstone's boom? Fuuuuuuuuuug
it isn't
Low skill ceiling
Lack of heroes
Lack of balance leading to all teams and all games being the same
Poorly designed maps
Updates are too infrequent and too small
Blizzard expects pro teams to pay huge sums of money up front to have the privilege of competing for a tiny fraction of the money they paid
Competitive FPS is for pissy manlets and mental midgets who can't do half circles.
because Overwatch is really casual.
the meta revolves around using the ultimate abilities in conjunction and that's it.
if overwatch put out more heroes at least just on the ptr id be happy, like more omnics or something, just seems like theyre afraid to do anything
Valve pay any taxes the winners would have to though.
Meanwhile, Blizzard expect you to pay $20 million up front just so you're allowed to compete in the pro scene.
exactly companies need to not push this sorta shit and just let the community take care of it early on.
reminder blizzard would not pay off the winners taxes hope no one has mentioned this yet
The Overwatch League looming over the whole scene has simply caused a lot of uncertainty. Even the Koreans seem frustrated with the game.
>Blizzard expect you to pay $20 million up front
This is for cities and infrastructure investment but ok
No. It's part of the reason the SC2 pro scene is dead as fuck.
The disappointment from Doomfist's reveal is enough to kill Overwatch alone.
What a shitty character.
>4+ maps
>3 heroes
>symm rework
>just seems like theyre afraid to do anything
so how is doomfist, is he repulsively overpowered or pathetically weak
its worse and has P2W so leave shill
hard countered by junkie
junkie will forever be god tier
eat shit non-aussies
WoW caused Blizzard to get lazy as fuck. They think they can get away with releasing a few meagre patches a year. I'm surprised they haven't announced an Overwatch expansion yet.
I only saw that animated reveal, what's actually wrong with him?
you mean stagnant the games population is never moving there servers are still sad and pathetic like all HI-rez titles the game has P2W card shit and they can and will hurt smite with oh wait it already HI-rez has killed more games at this point then made any
...
>make a FPS
>the meta is 2 Tanks/2 Healer per 6 person team like it was a Raid party in a RPG
Also I get unusually butthurt when the game crashes and then the game gets pissy at me for 'quitting' games.
I think you mean
>literally spending half a billion trying to make WoW 2.0 caused blizz to get conservative as fuck
redditors wanted some famous black actor to voice him
he didn't
redditors mad
I think Blizzard is against balancing. They internally think that it's more fun to take turns being OP.
>people are shilling p2w shit like paladins
can you just fuck off
>p2w
Explain
Woulda liked to see what Blizzards FPS mmo thingy woulda been like instead of "PLEASE BECOME ESPORTS" game with memes.
The current pro scene is literally "one dad gets his son and a bunch of his friends to sign up for a tournament as a 'team' which then gets a few dollars from G2A to plaster their fucking logo on their shirts"
Overwatch league will have spots for cities and yearly leagues just like MLB or NBA, you buy into a team for 20 million fucking dollars and every year your team performs in the tournaments.
So unless you already own the fucking LAKERS you arent considering buying in, you're considering trying out for the team.
There is no "prize pool" to strive for as everyone will get paid for performing, all the money coming from advertisers and sponsors and fucking t-shirts.
its changing the "riot/valve pitch in money to force people to watch" to "this shit's on TV and kellogs is paying for the playoffs so they can post the player's face on wheaties"
Theres so many factors to why "toxic" players are more noticeable in comparison that comes from the very multiplayer online infastructure that results in those "toxic" players to tf2 that i can't explain fast and cohesive enough before this thread dies
atleast until meet your match, the only reason why you would really play was because you wanted to, there was nothing really at stake from winning or losing, other than winning or losing, and you could pretty much leave and join at any time
In overwatch the way that multiplayer works, it increases the time between a game ending, with match making, Theres penalties for leaving games increasing the commitment from losing more xp and having to play more matches, time commitment, lower players meaning that if one person is shit one a 5 or six man team your pretty much screwed where someone leaving a game or being shit on a 12 man team is less damaging to your experience
These fucking idiots that make the esport centered pieces of shit complain about toxic agressive players when the entire way esport centered multiplayer games are designed in such a way to aggrivate minor, or major issues regarding the game or mutiplayer conduct in general
it pisses me off, i need to write a stupid report or some shit on this
If it's true they spent so much money trying to make a game and produced nothing, Blizzard has some serious problems at a managerial level. There is no business on this planet that would throw around that kind of money on nothing.
Prize pools are not how pro players get paid friend
Its also unbearable as a spectator. I dont know if the spectating has gotten better, but its a mess to watch.
>remembering all that money you spent on loot boxes
>don't even play the game anymore
>Also I get unusually butthurt when the game crashes and then the game gets pissy at me for 'quitting' games.
This happened to me early on shortly after competitive was added and made me not want to do comp anymore.
Not sure what you're trying to say here, but both LoL and DotA 2 pro games have been shown on TV since before Overwatch was even a thing.
they spent 5 years and half a billion trying to make a game, and it was such phenomenal shit they decided to cancel it and fire anyone they could spare to fire.
The remaining crew just flipped the assets and accidentally made the best selling game of the past and future decade
>10k income
>taxes
Overwatch is quite literally just the scraps from that game. It's VERY apparent when you look at certain animations that weren't patched, it feels explicitly MMO-like.
If anything, Hearthstone being a game that costed so little and bringing in HUGE money has made Blizzard want to treat all their projects like such.
Did overwatch eatsports pro competitive gaemering only pick up and stay propped up because of big prize pools?
>fps game forces you to play rpg roles
>wonder why people don't like it
blizzard, people play fpshooter to shoot stuff not to dungeon raid
