What other movie franchise, book series, or television seasons so perfectly mirror the trajectory of another video game franchise?
What other movie franchise, book series...
wouldn't demon's souls be original DB and ds1 be DBZ?
I was thinking about that but nah this works better. I mean the early parts or at least first half of DB people love same for Dark Souls and near the last 2/3rds is when both series shit the bed (after Namek and post Anor Londo). Demons Souls can be Dr. Slump.
bump
i don't know what this means
that would make sense because DB > DBZ >>>>>>shit> DBS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DBGT
somehow i agree with you, even though DBZ is my childhood, DB was better, less crazy about characters beating their power levels and more focused on fun and interesting stuff, hard to describe.
>not including DBZ , the most famous part of dragon ball
DB -> DeS
DBZ -> DaS
DBGT -> DaS2
DBS -> DaS3
one job nigger
its demon souls
All I know is that
DB (from chapter 1 to Goku flying off with Uub) would be similar to Dark Souls 1. Everyone loves the first half and considers it to shit the bed after the second half or 2/3rds of the way in with Lost Izalith and (depending on who you ask) the buu or cell arc being the nadir of DB.
GT was similar to Dark Souls 2 in being a b team effort and while both get a lot of shit, people defend them by saying they at least tried something new.
Super is A team back (though many people are doubtful how much Toriyama or Miyazaki really had in both works) and both are pretty much nostalgia pandering or fanservice the series/games. Both play way it way too safe and rely on the brand name to carry the series. GT vs Super and DasII vs Das3 is a common debate among both fandoms.
Yep. DBZ took it way too far with how powerful its characters were. Fights went from clever use of tactics to 'who has the biggest explosion'
Dragonball is DBZ. I made no separation. Just think of Demon's Souls as Dr Slump.
but that's wrong
both z and dark souls are the most known parts of their series and share reletive quality
same for db and demon's souls in fame and quality
is super good?
is alright
No, not really. If you're a huge DBZ fan and want to watch it then watch the two movies and skip the first two arcs.
Not really. Even if you look last the lazy animation, the plot is abysmal
>Dragonball is DBZ
Demon's Souls is Dr. Slump?
Bro no it's not take your fucking L
Why do so many superfags want super cancer in DB Fighterz? I keep seeing "unique" abilities but Hit's only claim to fame is ZA WARUDO and Guldo as a ginyu ultimate or assist has that covered. Not to mention the designs for the characters are awful.
Dragonball from chapter 1 to the end of Uub is just dragonball. I'm talking about the manga. It's like separating Naruto pre timeskip and post timeskip into different series.
but everything is completely different between db and dbz
Sure, both are pretty niche compared to Dragonball (again taking Z into consideration not just pre raditz), at least in the US anyway, and both aren't technically apart of Dark Souls just like Dr Slump isn't a part of the DB universe even though Arale made cameos in og Dragonball and Super. There's too many inconsistencies with both series to share the same universe. Dr Slump's God for instance looks like Roshi and not Kami.
Hit, as a character, is a cool guy, and was able to go toe to toe with Goku's most powerful form, which nobody else comes close to except gods and angels. Some of the characters introduced in Super are interesting, it's just the writing that bogs them down. Most of them, however, have nothing going for them
King Piccolo arc is pretty much the same as the saiyan arc desu, only thing that might make it seem that way is Goku being a kid. Piccolo JR is identical in tone and feel to the saiyan arc, it might as well be DBZ.
Only character design I kind of like is Zamasu, I wouldn't mind if he gets in desu. Fuck Goku black though, I REALLY don't want the cast to be filled with Goku look alikes. Yeah they may play differently enough, but it'd be really aggravating to see not Goku, and Goku's father, and Goku's son who looks exactly like him in the gi except the hairstyle.
DB (Manga) > DBZ (Manga) > DB (anime) >> DBZ (anime) > DBS (manga) > GT >>>>> DBS( Anime)
>Original is a all around good time and timeless
>Second has to pull bullshit out of its ass to create tension
>Third has to pull tension out of its ass to create bullshit.
>Martial Arts and overpowered super powers are the same
Goku and Piccolo jr vs Goku and Vegeta aren't that different. You're thinking of like the Cell and beyond arc.
DB and DBZ were the same thing in nippon
>Dragonball = Demon's Souls
>DBZ = Dark Souls 1
FTFY.
Now, I know that what the states know as DBZ is still just dragonball elsewhere, but this title change is actually at the perfect place in the series because it does an excellent job of segmenting Dragonball into two pretty logical halves; with the transition from one half being comparable to a shift from one game to it's sequel (i.e. DeS to DaS).
The change in DB can be summarized with just the word aliens. The story started as Toriyama's take on journey to the west and that tie to mythology was the main way to justify all the crazy shit that all the characters were able to do. When you introduce aliens to the mix like the Saiyan arc did, you're basically overriding the backdrop for the entire series, which is a major fucking change. Goku's no longer a unique person, the overall tone for the series takes a sharp turn (though you could argue it started when piccolo was introduced), and power levels start to go crazy as perviously major characters just get dumpstered.
All these changes that you see moving from the piccolo arc to the saiyan arc are comparable to what you see moving from Demon's souls to Dark souls. The lore and DeS world gets completely thrown out the window (like the shift from chinese mythology to aliens), the levels aren't segmented anymore and instead are all strung together metroid-style, the magic system gets an overhaul, etc.
Do you find it funny how the earth in early DB i.e. Pilaf-RR arc is a lot more interesting and exotic than Namek? It's environments and locales actually felt more alien than another planet, kek.
Both GT and Super are equally shit you Super apologists.
