No it didn't. Only the 32gb sku sold out, the 16gb never did. All those breathless articles about the WiiU shortage were only referring to the 32gb sku, which they generally wouldn't bother mentioning till the last paragraph. And even then that onky lasted a little over one month. The Wii U had negative sales in some regions in the quarter after Christmas (1.5 months after release) because returns were outstripping its sales.
