It's honestly weird. I was playing Dark Souls 1 yesterday and it almost felt as if it weren't dead. I had no trouble finding summon signs or getting summoned at all. It seems like they're more alive than usual for some reason.

People still get activity in demons souls as well. I'm surprised das2 is handing on though, the way they fractured the playerbase between both generations of consoles and then had two versions on PC because of direct X. Fucking save files are incompatible because of that.

The only part of online play that is dead is invasions, they are pretty damn rare.

If you wanted to play the whole game right now, you might get invaded three times over the entire game + DLC

Joke's on you I have HK copy of DeS.

Any build will do in any souls game as long as you can swing and roll. Later you can respec. Also ds2 is infamous for very high soul levels at the end. You won't have to choose a build when every stat is over 60.

Starting from the hub area, you have to kill 4 specific bosses. If i remember correctly, there are 5 ways out of majula, (2 intersect later), so there is one for each boss.
The boss is a dead end and will teleport you back to majula, do you know when you are done with one path (unless you missed / ignored some optional areas).
Also, 2 of said paths are hard to go early on if you dont know exactly what you are doing. They will "unlock" naturally over the game. So theres only 2 ways really.

Finally, in one of the paths there is also a large locked door. It will open whe you kill all 4 bosses, and the second half of the game is there. Its much more linear than the first half.

Thanks for the advice. The only path I've been able to find leads to the forest of giants so I'm just aimlessly venturing around the bonfire with the breakable wall, near the bomb throwers. Good to know that you can respec though, thats a huge relief.

Majula paths are a little hidden and easy to miss. Hell, there are people who never found the herald without a guide. (the ds2 equivalent of the doll.)

Ds3 has 12k online and I never got summoned with the wolf convenant. Ds3 is the most broken of the onlines.
