Zotac is one of those brands that I've always avoided because they seemed to be the cheap chinese imitation of the big companies like evga, msi and some other brand that starts with an x I think (xfx?)But they've been around for a long time now so I'm sure they make fine components.
They're a budget brand for sure but I've never seen any widespread complaints about their stuff.
If I was gonna spring for a 1080 I'd probably aim a little higher though, that's probably not as overclockable as the big-name manufacturers.
I give it 2 years tops before it starts having some serious overheating issues on default clock speeds and you feel like a dumbass for trying to save 20 bucks by buying a luxury component off a chink shit manufacturer.
Base: 1771 MHz
Boost:1911 MHz
I got it for 600 and there was 200+ reviews on it with good things to say
so i don't understand, Nvidia makes the gtx line, then other companies make their versions of the card? I don't really understand why.
PS:I prefer EVGA
Not sure about the 1080 but the 1080ti version has sub-par VRM cooling and the backplate just act as a hot box. Might not be an issue but something to be aware of. You'll be much better off with EVGA, MSI Gaming X or a Strix which are just all around better designed and cooled cards.
youtu.be
I mean it's a good card, but you probably overpaid because of the miner bs currently going on
So you did good but it could have been better (by waiting for prices to normalize)
GTX is just the branding Nvidia gives its consumer/gaming line of GPUs. All 3rd party Nvidia GPUs are also required to carry that Geforce GTX branding.
like bitcoin mining? I heard the amd cards were the only worth while ones for that?
no the high end nvidia are affected as well
gtx 560 and 580 blew, mine would artifact on certain games, a buddy of mine had to RMA his 580 twice
NVIDIA makes the board, other brands the parts that will be used in the board and the heatsink and fans.
They can also change the design of the card to make it smaller or bigger.
>buying this instead of an xbox one x
lol
...
Should've waited for VEGA to get released and the bitcoin craze to die down.
>some other brand that starts with an x I think (xfx?
Probably there cards blow, I've had a few of them. I had a 7800GTX made by them that blew up in about 2 years. Later I had a 7850 that didn't even last a year stopped buying their shit after that.
Zotac has the best warranty out all brands.
>Zotac GTX 750Ti fan dies, ask for a replacement, told to send the card and they will fix it
>Receive a new GTX 1050Ti
Honestly i didn't saw that one coming.
Nvidia designs the GPU die (pic related it's my GTX 1080 die), TMSC manufacturers it, Nvidia designs a stock board and board partners either buy the board as is and put their own cooler on it, or they make their own board and put the die on it along with their own cooler.
TSMC*
EVGA does the same.
recommend me a 1080 for $600-$650
Yeah but EVGA is a bad brand in general.
>VRMs exploding
>Put thermal pads and never fix the problem
It turned into a long term quickfix.
>Buying gtx 1080 for $650 when you can buy 1080ti for $50 more
are the ti's that much better?
Yes.
How so? All I see is that they are like 200 dollars more with minor performance increase
yeah, 1080 is gud and zotac warranty is gud.
I prefer evga myself.
glad I live near a microcenter.
they have a 1080ti for 629 open box.
open box is the way to go, if you aren't happy they take it back no questions asked. so long as it's within the 15 - 20 day window.
This card has a massive heatsink. It is larger than any of the competition. Takes 3 slots. Overkill in my opnion.
I just didn't want it to run super hot so i went with it
