Is there a big difference in gaming performance when you have an Intel i5 processor compared to an Intel i7?

Yes, despite what any of these poorfag virgin cunts say.

Depends on the game.
Just check benchmarks of the games you wanna play to be sure.

If you're playing at higher than 1080p 60hz yes.

Depends on the game but more of it nowadays is to do with having a newer processor than something old like Sandy/Ivy Bridge.

It depends on the whole setup. Having an i7 with a 5 year old graphics card will still give you shitty results

I ordered an i5 7600k 3.8ghz. Did I make a mistake not buying an i7?

I needed to save money.

>Having an i7 with a 5 year old graphics card will still give you shitty results
5 year old cards can still run all modern games at 60fps 1080p.

I've heard that i7 is excessive, and I have a 3.8Ghz i5 with a Zotac 1070 and I don't get bottlenecked. So, from personal experience, it seems like i7 is a meme, but it really depends on your graphics card, IMO.

>5 year old cards can still run all modern games at 60fps 1080p

I doubt a 680 can run 60fps 1080p

depends entirely on the game

i'd say modern games not so much they rely on the GPU more. but if you are really into older games like csgo it can be the difference between 100fps and 300fps

I have a HD 7970, it can run battlefield 1, Doom, witcher 3, etc at 60 fps, 1080p and max graphics.
graphics cards haven't changed much in the last 5 years, only people who buy new cards fell for marketing.

Pretty princesses hit too close to home despite not being relatable at all..
Why is that?

Would it be worth it to go from i5 3470-i7 3770k

These /r9k/ memes are unsettling as fuck.

Being very serious here, what is the exact difference? I have a gtx750 and an i5 and Im playing Just Cause 3, some settings are at low, other settings are at medium, at a range of 40-70fps. What is the point of having a super expensive pc when I can play most games with my budget pc?

how 'bout dishonored 2? :v)

No, modern games till barely take advantage of quad cores. Also modern processors have barely improved since 3rd gen except to run hotter.

Yeah, I shouldn't be looking at these so late.

game doesn't look like shit

>Is there a big difference in gaming performance when you have an Intel i5 processor compared to an Intel i7?

For Football Manager or ARMA, yes. Games that do a lot of low level math.
But if its a game with some cookie cutter engine that does all its calculation on the GPU, then no.

There is a bit, but not nearly worth the price.
The money you put towards a i7 instead of a i5 would be better spent in a beefier GPU.

It really doesnt. If you're worried about how the grass looks in a game where you're barely in the ground I guess you'd need more, but my only concern were fps drops when a lot of shit starts blowing up and thats going fine

I've got some questions, Sup Forums.

Is Crossfire / SLI a meme?
What's better, Nvidia or AMD?

>grafix don't matter!!1!
you should buy a console

botnet fetches your files quicker

>7970
>60 FPS in Witcher 3 on max
user, why do you have to lie on the internet?

in the year where devs barely optimize their games you are hoping they would optimize them further for Crossfire/SLI?

>Crossfire

You get better results with SLI/Crossfire, but you don't get double performance. It's more like 30-50%, I believe. So basically only use it if you really plan on throwing away your money and buying two of the most high end GPUs. Otherwise it's probably more sensible to just buy a better GPU.

Aside from rendering/"professional" software like music, movies, and 3D, the only reason you should get a new CPU and something like an i7 is if you want to play Forza Horizon 3 or other MS Win10 exclusive meme games that have horrible PC performance or maybe Total War games.

stability is generally the reason people upgrade. It's cool to be able to look at better graphics and modded shaders and shit, but when it runs with a 30fps variable it's a huge disaster, it's easily noticeable. Most shit released nowadays is barely optimized if at all for pc hardware so you have to buy the most powerful shit to have it be playable at a level comparable to consoles in terms of graphical fidelity, which is retarded but just how stuff is.

>not buying ryzen

Sli and crossfire scaling these days are 90%
t. Someone who just ditched sli

Well shit man, since I'm behind on upgrading I didn't even really check. Apparently you are right when approaching 4k resolutions, but it seems that you still barely gain anything at 1080p.

That's like asking what the difference between a Toyota Corolla and a Ferrari is.

If you just want to get from Point A to Point B, then a Corolla (budget PC) is fine. But if you want to get their super fast and have a very enjoyable experience, get the Ferrari (expensive PC).

no, no relevant game uses more than 2 cores atm

you can still get by with a core 2 duo and thats fucking ancient

Buy an R5 instead

I don't understand this meme

get out of here grandpa

Probably not, better to wait/save up and get a newer generation of CPU, whether it's Ryzen or a Kaby Lake Intel.

I5 7600k is best bang-for-buck Intel CPU at the moment, but as someone else said, Ryzen might've been a better choice.

I have become old and out of touch. feels bad

>tpab with trash
NICE

>le fembot maymay
It's a proven fact that you can't be female AND a robot.

I'd rather drive an AE86 than a shitty Ferrari. The Ferrari would have to stop for fuel twice between A and B.

When I see this I think of Britney venty

Depends on what one you get

>cucks larping as trannys
post boipussy or gtfo

>mfw i still have an i5 2500k

Horizon 3 is well optimized after the patch. Uses all 4 of my cores pretty evenly actually

Mah nig. Had one too since late 2011 when I built my first gaymen PC. I have it overclocked but I think I'm going to upgrade at Christmas
