Watched it last night with the missus. Both fans, both enjoyed lords of shadow trilogy as well as the originals.

This anime was a mess.
Beginning was rushed, no development and with that we are 20 years later give or take.
Dracula's revenge was reasonable, alucard's reasons to resist were a bit of a let down, not fleshed out enough. (Maybe show some scenes of him and his mother. Show if there was ever a strong bond between Dracula and Alucard?)

Priests, village people, I know folk think this is pretty "anti-christian". My only issue was them naming "Christianity" rather than inferring what religion it is (I don't remember the games doing that)

I think they shouldn't have started with dracula/wife. Should have started with Trevor, doing his travelling, comes across the city being ravaged by demons, and through talking to the folk, his interactions with the priests we the audience piece together its dracula, and it started with his wifes death. (flashbacks, maybe Trevor/dracula get an early greeting, Dracula tells his story to the outsider, and tells him to fuck off. Trevor doesn't, gets buttfucked by dracula and left in the dirt. Alucard comes in to the rescue, his father not knowing he was still alive.

I don't have high hopes for season 2. The one highlight of the first 4 episodes was the alucard/trevor fight/exchange. Maybe we'll get more of that?
