Is it actually fun gameplay-wise? I love me some dungeon crawlers but the vita ones are so hit or miss.

It is - in battle, the girls get splashed with blood from enemies, and there are various mechanics on how to handle this, because it's both a good and a bad thing. It's good if they get plastered with lots of low-impurity blood because they'll go into Genocide Mode, which boosts all their stats and lets them use special abilities, and it's bad because high-impurity blood has a higher chance of sending them into Blood Skelter mode, where you lose control of them and they attack randomly, even your own party members.

Are the dungeons actually well thought out? And I hear it has way too much talking

The dungeons are a bit loopy at times - 50x50 is the normal size (postgame ones are bigger), and sometimes it feels like they go to too much trouble to fill in as much of the map as possible. It's only a problem on about half the maps I'd say, though. The maps do have the usual conveniences people expect (teleporters/shortcuts for the way back or routes you've already cleared, etc.)

Well, it's not Etrian Odyssey. It's a character driven RPG, so there's a lot of talking. I don't think that's a negative, especially if you like the characters.

That's Jack, of Jack and the Beanstalk fame. He has a gun that draws blood from his veins and fires it at the girls in combat, which gets rid of any impurities they have built up, so that they're more likely to go into the good Genocide Mode instead of the bad, uncontrollable Blood Skelter mode.

He's not a very enviable self-insert since he's always passing out in battle from anemia.

Well, I hate self-inserts, but that seems reasonable enough and I want to lift Scissors Girl's shirt flap. Very likely buy, maybe even twice if it comes out on Steam.

How's the monster design ? Having to fight anime girls was the biggest flaw of Dungeon Traveller for me.

What makes the dungeon crawling in this game interesting? Just about every Vita dungeon crawler I've played has been boring without something like FOEs to make traversing the map interesting.

But I didn't enjoy dungeon travelers 2. At ALL. Way too stressful.

Strange journey was pretty good too but I stopped at delphinus just because I got burned out even though I was at the end of that sector.

Should I give EO a shot? This game seems more my style though since compile hearts aren't hardcore from what I know.

Sounds like you enjoy entry-level/easy stuff.
You may enjoy recent EO as they are easier than the earlier one.

How far did you get?

I enjoyed DT2 until the post game where everything is dependent on forging your gear to make you go fast or else you lose your ass. The class locked doors were annoying too.

Too bad the Dungeon Crawlers i'm actually waiting for are Refrain which seems MIA for some unknown reasons and DT2-2 which might not happen (still waiting for TH2 DT).

I don't blame you on DT2, that game is a horrible fucking grind, even more so than most dungeon crawlers because it takes forever to level up and levels by themselves make very little difffrence, it's all about class builds and you could easily fuck up a character and then would either need to grind them out to the next level "checkpoint" where you could safely reset their stats or just lose whatever levels you had resetting back to a previous level.
I simply do not understand the praise that game gets. It's mediocre but in a diffrent way than something like Operation Abyss was.

Completed main story. Got 5 mins into post-game content before tapping out.
The main problem boils down to unbalanced skills. Game was built around picking up the best skills but had too many noob trap skills/passives and explained little with a barebones wiki. Hated that.

Mei-Q's character designs turned me off of the game entirely. Every girl had a really odd and off-putting face.

Yeah at that point you would've wanted to kill yourself with the first post game dungeon having all those class doors. Gamefaqs has a comprehensive list of how skills work though which mad it a lot easier

I'm a little skeptical of that. I've been looking at for possibly an unhealthy amount of time and if it's a photoshop, it's a very, very good one. Her fingering hand doesn't come from anywhere else in the image, it would've had to be hand-drawn, and if it was, they even managed to keep the shading consistent.
Not only that, if you look at where she's fingering herself specifically which you should be doing anyway, there's a subtle indent in the cloth that isn't there in the video.

I do plan on getting it, but I'll probably wait a few months first to pick up a copy since my backlog is pretty retarded right now.
