I keep flirting with idea of getting a switch, should I Sup Forums?
I keep flirting with idea of getting a switch, should I Sup Forums?
Just upgrade your PC and emulate BotW instead.
yes
Don't fall for the console meme, you will eventually get to play all these games on PC, unfortunately everyone will have forgotten BoTW and Mario Oddysey by 2027
yes.
And miss out on Splatoon 2 and ARMS?
It's not a lust for Zelda or anything. I honestly have never really done a bunch of Nintendo.
>22 male
>Grown up on Sony
>Getting kinda bored and wanna try new stuff
Moar, convince me.
Do you like Nintendo games?
Good luck finding one for retail price dip shit
bullying aside I have one and it's very fun. I like it a lot and it's got some pretty good games comin'. Mario Kart 8 is still fun, BotW on the go is ingenious, Arms is a blast and the other titles are too shabby! I really liked bomberman R.
No, wait for discount/bundle.
If you're looking for a good Ninty sampler, get a 3ds and hack it, slap a 64gb sd card in there and play literally everything portable nintendo has made
Switch is a decent console, but like most Nintendo consoles, has a pretty weak launch, not many exclusives, so the only draw is stuff like Arms, Splatoon 2, Mayrio (Not even out yet), and portability.
Should I just invest in a Wii U first then? Sure I Can find one on the cheap
I'm really enjoying mine honestly and I'm pretty excited to pick up Splatoon 2 in a few days. Besides that I've had a lot of fun with Zelda, ARMS and Puyo Puyo Tetris were way more fun than I was expecting and MK8 Deluxe is probably my favorite Mario Kart.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is one of the best Mario Karts made, rivaling only with DS.
ARMS depends on your taste, is not really combo based fighting but more mind game based, so matches get intense.
The console is also really quick to start, so you have to waste little to no time to start playing.
Nope. Wait for at least 5 exclusive non port or remaster games / price to reduce 15%
It's fun as fuck desu
Yes definitely, BOTW is great and Splatoon 2 is shaping up to be GOTY for me.
>mfw playing the testfire
Buy one now because once Splatoon and Mario come out good luck. I've had mine since launch and I honestly adore it. Playing console games on the go is great and the controllers are super comfortable, not a fan of the battery life but they will probably release battery extenders or something. ARMS, Mario Kart 8, and Zelda are currently great games and with a major Nintendo title coming out with each month along with indie titles sprinkled in it seems to have a great Nintendo library and if they continue this release path it could probably be one of the best Nintendo consoles in recent memory
If you are, get one right now. The launch of splatoon 2 will be the best time to play it.
I think so.
It's a hybrid console with lots of perks and a healthy life ahead of it to boot. The NSW has very high value and the mobile features are nice to have.
What are you really looking for? What makes you consider the idea? Is it the popularity? The games? A change of pace for your hobby? Think about that.
Some of the games interest me, and a change of pace.
>Used to grim dark, shooters, "adult" games
>Picked up a OG DS recently
>Been playing the fuck out of New Super Mario Bros
>Look at switch now and its glimmering beacon of pure joy
I have to ask; have you played other multiplayer shooters? Like, are you a fan of things like battlefield, even overwatch, anything? I'm actually curious, I've been wondering for a while.
Like, I sink a lot of hours into multiplayer shooters, and the first splatoon was just a boring, steaming pile of garbage to me. For all the hype, it felt like it should have been a $5 game, not $60. I couldn't wrap my head around why people like it so much. My only answer is that maybe people who love splatoon just don't play shooters?
you've never flirted with anything you beta
Def sounds you want some sort of change. I'd say go for it, I'm still waiting for a few friends to get a switch so I'm down to play with you myself.
Got a steamID?
not the other user but you should consider the library senpai, like i think i could swing owning one at this point because it's got arcade games on the eshop or whatever that i like and enough physical buys to keep me steady for a bit
but if you're not into a lot of what it's selling outside of those things you might catch a case of buyer's remorse
i'd bet money that's the leading regret of early adopters, just the wait you know the probable flood good stuff is coming but it's a long time off just be certain you can be content before diving in is all i'm saying, really
Why would you have sex with a Switch
Not him, but I've played a lot of shooters before, FPSs were my thing since I was 13 (26 now). Battlefield, CoD, TF2, Overwatch, Quake, Doom, etc.
Got to play the test fires and the splatfest, and it was the absolute most fucking fun I've had in a video game since I was a child playing n64 split screen with friends. ARMS is the second most fun I've had since then.
It's just really fresh having some games that make me feel good above all else. That they're still viable for at least some degree competitive play is just a bonus on top of that.
No, Wii Us are selling for the same as a Switch. And don't listen to the faggot saying to wait for a discount, there won't be one. The only reason to wait for bundles is if they have special editions like special joycons. Nintendo consoles, especially ones that are SUCCESSFUL, never go on sale.
OP, you really should try to get a Switch ASAP if you have the money for one and the time to get one. I wouldn't miss the launch of Splatoon 2.
Not really. I bought one for Zelda so I could save myself some money and it's basically just a glorified TV remote at this point. But you can hack it easily for access to the whole library (of 10 games) for free.
Eh, I wouldn't be surprised if they discount it for the holidays and beyond, or at least a bundle for $300 (e.g. Mario Odyssey bundle).
But fuck, if they do, there'll be supply shortages until next summer at least.
Ie. don't wait for it to go on sale.
I really don't get why I had such a bad experience that nobody else seemed to have. The things I hated about it were that the matches only last like one or two minutes maximum each, and the fuckin map rotation thing. Like, you can only play on TWO DIFFERENT MAPS that get switched every four hours? When the matches only last a handful of minutes, those maps get really fucking old really fucking fast. It felt like it was intended to be played for ten minutes at a time throughout the day, which made it feel like it was intended to be a smartphone game or something. I just don't know why I've never seen anyone acknowledge this. I expected something way more from a multiplayer shooter, even one intended to be more lighthearted like Smash.
It'll get cheaper when they release the "slim" version with better battery life.
A used Wii U is going for $195 right now. Refurbished is going for like $270. New is like $295.
Seeing as the most important games (Splatoon, MK8, etc.) are getting basically re-released on the Switch, and going forward there'll probably be no more Wii U games, I would just get a Switch.
as someone who loves it, the 3DS' graphics enter the realm of being so bad they're distracting. more because of the retardedly low resolution even when it launched than the actual visuals.
there's an absurd amount of excellent games though, im just not sure if a newcomer to the platform will enjoy it.
No. You should know by now that if you're already hesitant to buy something that is not a necessity, you are wasting your money. Listen to your conscious and save your 300+ dollars for something more important or worthwhile.
>matches only last like one or two minutes maximum each
I think this is actually a decent time for territory control like this -- going any longer and it'd start dragging out and just get frustrating as you trade territory. There are other game modes -- maybe someone that has played Splatoon 1 can comment further about match duration on those.
> you can only play on TWO DIFFERENT MAPS that get switched every four hours?
I think this was just basically a demo restriction
Is a Nintendo shield for $300 for 5 Nintendo games worth it to you? Where you need to spent an additional $70 on a non fucktard controller.
Is the wii U worth it to you?
I think it's a giant scam and Nintendo fans are more occupied with strengthening NIntendos bank account than actually receiving a worthwhile product with real value and software to choose from.
Other game modes could last around 5+ minutes on ranked and they lowered the timer for maps and they change every 2 hours
>Where you need to spent an additional $70 on a non fucktard controller.
The Joy Cons are fucking great what's wrong with you?
it's shit
>Where you need to spent an additional $70 on a non fucktard controller.
>I have never actually used a joycon
The almost-universal reaction to joycons has been: "Wow, I was skeptical but these are actually pretty good."
>Do you like Nintendo meme games?
The entire worth of the console is pivoted on that single sentence. If you don't give a shit about games made for LITERAL babies then you're probably a normal, properly functioning adult in which the answer is clear, no the Switch is not for me and maybe you should invest in a real game system instead of being a victim of Nintendos proprietary bullshit fraud scheme console.
They are flimsy, gimmicky pieces of crap that will never replace a traditional controller and will be the passing Nintendo fad that it is.
Hello shill
>I have never used joycons
>The almost-universal reaction to joycons has been: "Wow, I was skeptical but these are actually pretty good."
...in the Nintendo Switch echo chamber? Yeah, I can imagine
I took Sup Forums's advice to get a 3DS and I'm still furious over how shit it turned out to be. And I've happily owned every other previous Nintendo ever made.
So... IDK, wait until it gets some games that aren't hot garbage at least.
>Splatoon 2 is shaping up to be GOTY for me
>you share a board with people like this
Don't.
Unless you have friends, you'll only be one game for quiet some time.
I wasn't too impressed with the 3DS graphics even at launch...I think that part of it was I had been spoiled with my iPod touch's 320x480 resolution. But really, you can't really ask for a lot out of Nintendo handhelds...
What's wrong with 3DS? I've been loving mine.
If I only liked Western games, I guess, I'd be hating it. But I'd be shocked if you bought a 3DS not knowing that.
for those who really cant decide the question is simple
do you want local multiplayer and got people to play it with? if yes buy a switch
if you just a new console i say go with a PS4pro since its a multimedia platform as well
also best entry to VR bullshit unless you really want to build a hefty pc
I have one
It is worth it for botw, 100 hrs. After that you only got mario kart left. Might take you a week before it gets stale if you play 150cc only, could take you a month or 2 if you master 200cc. Im already at the point where both games got stale. If I were you i wouldnt buy it until smash and mainline pokemon came for it, so you have variety. I cant enjoy mario kart 8 anymore. But if i had the chance to switch between mario kart and smash bros when either got stale, i would still probably enjoy it.
TL;DR: lack of games makes you abuse the only 2 good ones until they are not enjoyable anymore. When smash comes out i will abuse it to the point it feels stale.
>there's an absurd amount of excellent games though
Name one.
>I really don't get why I had such a bad experience that nobody else seemed to have.
Because you're asking on NintendoGAF that is full of literal marketers.
I mean, people are unironically trying to shill ARMS here.
Id buy a 1080p $500 3ds that increases internal res even if the textures look trash. Should make a DSphone or some shit if they want the normie market.
>What's wrong with 3DS?
There isn't a single 'great' game on it. I replay all my old handhelds all the time, but I will never go back to the 3DS, even though it's jailbroken and I can get literally everything on it. There is not a single game in the ENTIRE 3ds library that I'll ever want to replay. Even the remakes on it are worse than the originals due to incompetence and shit hardware.
There's also ARMS, and Splatoon 2 in under a week.
A handful of other non-exclusive games if those are your thing (for example, Disgaea 5).
>I haven't played ARMS.
Try making non-meme arguments.
Ah, I've been digging a lot of the RPGs it has on it -- SMT, Etyrian Odyssey, the Fire Emblems, Bravely Default, then there's Monster Hunter, Kid Icarus, the entire DS library, quite a few indies (Phoenix Wright!), Rune Factory (along with Fantasy Life and Harvest Moon, but haven't played FL and HM isn't my thing), there's a few N64 ports like the Zeldas and Mario for that nostalgic punch, and there's Samus Returns coming, Ever Oasis is supposed to be charming (haven't played that one).
If I had to choose between my PS4 Pro and my 3DS, I'd probably keep my 3DS.
Just my opinion, though.
Arms is good dummy
Not happening. There won't be one. Your best bet is to wait 4 to 5 years for the Switch 2 to release, which'll probably be backwards compatible while having the power of a PS4 Pro.
But that's if you want to wait 4 to 5 years, and would be stupid if you want to get into any multiplayer Switch games.
i found it boring af also. did the testfire thing when the first game came out and was completely bored and 100% turned off from buying the game.
Then it's simply not your thing. Not all games need to be for everyone, and not everyone needs to like the same games.
arms looks so unappealing that I thought it was a 1-2 switch minigame. splatoon 2 is for pedos, FPS games are for shit normies
>I keep flirting with idea of getting a switch
>I honestly have never really done a bunch of Nintendo.
>Getting kinda bored and wanna try new stuff
>Moar, convince me.
Sounds like you're already convinced. It's time to make the Switchâ„¢ you naughty boy.
here's a (you)
...
There is literally no reason not to buy a Switch unless you're poor
>want a switch for splatoon 2
>can't find any anywhere
>finally Amazon restock
>buy one
>play test fire and it was great
>have to wait till Friday for release
>collecting dust till then as there is nothing to play
>BotW and mk8 on Wiiu, not spending a dime on switch boxing
Really doesn't matter how much dust it's gathering when a bunch of games are coming out later this year and 2018
Seriously, give ARMS a chance if you can. Maybe you can rent it from a local video rental place before you shell out cash for it.
I admit it's not a game for everyone but I really fucking love it. A lot more skill-demanding than just a "Switch Boxing".
>buy 4 month old system
>"Wow why isn't there thousands of games on it yet"
I really don't know what you are expecting. You already have the peace of mind on what Nintendo is going to be releasing for it in the future, but you should have known full well what they have available right now.
Yea but up here to buy is $79.99 +13%
I haven't rented a video game in years. Places still do that?
I will say the test fire was a lot of fun, as was playing the switch on the tv, tabletop in my desk and hand held. picking it up and playing reminded me a lot of the old psp
Wait for more games to come out.
Not that guy. But I used to play lots of Counter Strike and Unreal Tournament.
The most recent shooter I have played is probably the first two Halo games. But aside from that I haven't played much. Haven't even touched CS:GO.
I absolutely love Splatoon though.
if you really want it, get it now or risk going through even more hell to get it when anticipated games come out.
it's not a perfect system but it works
just like how everyone forgot about Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time? :o
are people honestly trying to pretend ARMS is good? fucking ARMS? these marketers are relentless
>when Sony is scared and needs to hire shills for FUD.
this reeks of truth
I find them kind of charming in a way. Reminds me of the Dreamcast somewhat.
If you made the mistake of buying a WiiU, no. Just get Zelda for that.
If you're willing to buy an entire new system just for Zelda, go ahead.
Otherwise, wait a year like a normal, sensible person, and see what comes out.
Do you have it? Have you played enough to be able to give an honest opinion based on what the game has to offer? If so, show proof so that your opinion is validated. If not then fuck off faggot
>Switch 2
>Power of the PS4 Pro
Introducing Nintendo Switch 2, available for $499
I'd do it
...Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Super Mario 3D Land was a triumph of 3D platforming
...
What
>not many exclusives
Understatement of a the fucking century.
Or u could spend 500+ to play Steam shovelware and emulate real games (Nintendo titles). Doesnt make much sense imho
botw... is waht your really buying.
ffs a console should have geams
>I hate Nintendo
Yeah, we got that with your last post
>nintendo shill team working overtime
The internet meme is to bash this system. Most people you talk to irl will vouch for it. I love mine. I bring it wherever I'm going.
>"Sorry bro I'm running twenty minutes late!"
>"Sick"
>Gamegamegamegame
If youre one of those sad people who cares about what you look like in the public eye, then your problems are deeper rooted than any video game console can solve.
>the passing Nintendo fad
You mean like D pads, analog sticks, force feedback, touch screens and motion controls?
Nintendo didn't invent any of those things. I shall however allow Nintendo fans to relish in the half-truth in which they insist on feeding themselves.
>holds up Battlefield and Overshill as examples of shooters
>hates Splatoon
I grew up on Doom and Quake, and played TF2 relentlessly. Splatoon is the best modern multiplayer shooter by a wide margin.
