I am playing it now, on the beginning of the Second play through (9S).

I'm struggling to find the appeal.

My personal critique:
The open environment is boring, empty and littered with lame pickups that stall the flow of the game, the enemies are just boring designs and some dont seem to even attack.
All the swords feel like each other, the combat doesnt feel tight, too many instances of feeling out of control or unable to cancel attacks (i.e. like the tight combat in ninja gaiden and Bayonetta).

You never really feel the affect of the plugins unless you're really looking.

The flying shooting gameplay is boring as well, just easily killing enemies galaga style.
The story is boring so far and there was no indication that aspects of the game were locked out until you play the next story. Further: the side missions are boring as fuck.

Overall it just feels hollow. You never feel badass because the enemies are basically just painfully slow, ugly little bots so when you beat them it's like killing a faceless fat bag of sand.

The weapons just feel meh and reskins. Upgrading them doesnt make them look any different either (see: Ninja Gaiden)

The music is pretty alright though.
I'm still going to continue to play to see if all of the story somehow redeems it, but I would be very surprised if it does. Right now, it feels like a step back for platinum.
