I just got a PS4 and I have been enjoying myself. Playing Horizon and FFXII.
I just remembered that I can use my Vita for remote play, but there in lies the problem.
My vita is still on 3.5* but I have yet to hack it.
Should I just say fuck it and update it so I can use remote play? It is it responsive? I used remote play on the PS3 and it was pretty bad.
Or should I hack my Vita so I can get whatever that offers?
Remote play worth it?
Most games don't work over remote play
Not worth.
>streaming games
Hack it.
Remote play is GARBAGE.
I sure love playing PS4 games on a microscopic screen, with two second delays.
I forgot this was a thing and I do want to play FFXII but I don't want to sit at the TV to play it. Maybe I'll try this.
Works well enough on games that don't need triggers.
>with two second delays.
t. poorfag with shitty internet speed
Well what does a hacked vita offer me?
I was going to play FFXII. I don't think it uses the L2 & R2
I have decent internet so I think it should be alright. I would be on the other side of my apartment though. So that might cause issues.
You can remote play a hacked vita. Update to 3.60 via henkaku dns (google it). Install henkaku, use the homebrew tool (I think it's called epsp bubble 2.0) to activate your vita under your psn account, and remote play will work just fine. I remote play on my 3.60 vita all the time.
Can I do all that from my Vita or do I need to connect to my PC to use the hacking tool?
Last time I tried to update my PC would use the programs that I needed to download
Just be aware that 60fps streaming for remote play is mandatory even if the game only runs 30fps. For whatever dumb reason, the input latency is less on that setting.
Been playing FFXII in bed via it, and it makes me glad the UI is still PS2-era sized on Zodiac Age so I'm not squinting to read shit on the Vita's screen.
>Mfw my WiiU's remote play works great
This is a fucking lie. Every ps4 is required to work with remote play
Nigga you're dumb.
I said games, not consoles, every console has it, but most of the games do not.
Suck my pee pee.
Work like shit user
Yeah but it costs 300 bucks and doesnt even play every wii u game
Worst accessory ever
You can remote play with a hacked vita.
Hack is as easy as going to a website on your vita and hitting OK
Once you have it installed you have to go to the website everytime you power cycle your vita
Once hacked you can spoof your firmware to access psn and other features.
Until you move more than 10 feet away from the console. My Vita reaches the bathroom no problem, but the WiiU only reaches halfway across my house through one wall max.
"internet" doesn't come into play when it's on your home network.
...
>not remote playing everything on the switch
fag
It's pretty amazing for playing PS1 games on PS3 since you can remote play disk games.
I've never gotten PS3/PS4 remote play to work over my Vita not at home, but I do have a phone app I use to play Nobunagas Ambition on PS4 once in a while when I'm visiting family or something.
Every game* is required to work with remote play. It's been mandated by sony. You are thinking of PS3 were developers had the option to disable PSP remote play for some performance/memory gain. So 90% of PS3 games ended up not suporting remote play.
This is total nonsense. Remote Play is the EXACT same functionality as Share Play and that works on everything.
It reminds me of that SharePlay feature no one uses, even though it's a decent way to 'share' a new game with a friend who doesn't own a PS4.
>you can remote play disk games
I never even thought of that.
Wish they'd do a new production run of PS2 and PS1 compatible PS3 though.
explain please. I have a Vita collecting dust in my closet.
framerate? input lag? distance sucks?
yeah, I don't buy consoles the same year that they are released. sorry
Like 5-6 worthwhile WiiU games can't be played in that mode.
>Worst accessory ever
How? Everyone always says this but never has a reason
>Held the same way as a controller, not much heavier than a normal controller
>Off tv play is a nice feature
>Pauseless inventory and maps on the gamepad is always a simple way to improve a game
>Did some neat gameplay innovations and maybe wrecked or damaged 4-5 games (that were arguably going to be bad regardless)
>Gyro controls which made splatoon as good as it was, and the touchscreen map which made the screen uncluttered and made using ults and teleporting to your allies instant
>Gyro in BOTW and the WiiU (and 3DS) Zelda remakes for aiming, touchscreen in the remakes for inventory and map
>Mario Maker
>Pikmin 3
>Star Fox Guard
>Gamepad can be used as an extra multiplayer screen in several games
Vita's better for outside the home stuff. Or if you can use it as a PS4 controller (I dont know) for games with smaller amounts of buttons (like 2d platformers) because that dpad is sublime.
What's in your walls? I cook with my WiiU gamepad and my WiiU in my room.
Be sure to remove direct connect and connect over wifi instead. Much better connection, a lot more stable and less input lag. You can also play when away from home if you leave your PS4 on rest rather than turning off. Every single ps4 game works flawlessly. I beat Second Son through remote play.
t. owns 2 vitas
It is the exact same, you are share playing with yourself. It uses the separate stream/record chips to handle the video with no overhead. For this very reason, the PS4 PRO has better remote and Shareplay functionality, but nobody knows about this because nobody owns a Vita.
I was under the impression the PS4 Pro still was 720p-only for remote/share-play stuff with the same baseline latency overhead.
He's lying, it works great unless you are going for frame combos in street fighter or some shit. So long as you don't have nigger internet, since it is just a video feed.
Shareplay used to be good until Sony fucked it up and increased the minimum internet speed required for shareplay.
I used to use it all the time with friends, even playing multiplayer games.now all of us get are red bars even though we get like 20MB down and up
My joke was about the switch you faggot
I played Final Fantasy XV, Tomb Rider Rise And 2013 on my Vita with a 20mbps download / 5mbps upload speed without a TV on my Vita and everything was fine.
Remote play is okay as long as you're not playing using your phone as a mobile hotspot. Debate me.
>mod Vita
>install moonlight
>play PC games through Vita
As long as game has native controller support it works amazing
Currently updating through Henkaku end
Hoping this works
it goes higher than 720 for sure, I've shareplayed my friends games and I know the setting is higher
I do want to get a switch though
It's alright
I legit got my PS4 yesterday and only remembered remote play about 30 mins ago. So I have no idea how to do any of that yet
>with shitty internet speed
Games streamed over Wifi will always be garbage, even on the same network and with an incredibly high end wifi access point.
It's under the PS4 remote play menu
Can you hack PS Vitas yet? I feel like now is the time to finally pick one up, and hacking would be gr8.
Hey man let me tell you a simple trick.
Thanks to this user I just put my Vita on the firmware needed to hack it.
It needs to be on 3.60 or lower.
As far as I know nothing above that is hackable
Hacking your Vita is a much better use of it than remote play. Remote play is alright, but not nearly worth updating for. Go to /hbg/ and pirate some Vita games.
english when ;-;
What fucking case is that?
Can you take a picture of the bottom? I have a charging dock.
I regret updating my vita for remote play. Yeah, I used it to lay in bed and use my PS4, but I could have used a Vita TV too and still had all the Vita games for free on the go.
I just use the Remote Play client on PC. Played through maybe one-third of Persona 5 that way with minimal issues. My PS4 is on wi-fi, too.
I just got 3.60.
I got Molecular Shell
And now I have no idea what I'm doing
Alright that's great to know. I have PS4 hardwired but ill mostly be using remote play from across my apartment
It's shit.
/thread
I just wish the colour range wasn't shit on PS4's video streaming. Limited range and then some courtesy of the h264 compression settings the PS4 uses.
Install maidumptool and download some games you want to play. If you don't have any game ideas go look at vitagen. Also get Adrenaline for PSP games.
I agree with that wholeheartedly. It was nice that the game streamed in 1080p because I have the pro, but the compression and color banding were were more than apparent in several scenes.
Awesome! Thank you!
also dumb question. Can I get those tools and adrenaline through the vita or do I need to connect to my PC
You need to connect to your PC.
Makes one wonder why Xbone has an optional high-bandwidth mode for 1080p hardly-compressed video feed but PS4 is still stuck in the equivelant of 'medium' settings.
Alright sweet. I'll do all that tomorrow. Thank you again user
