as a fan of the video game series I found it thoroughly enjoyable because I have the clarity to acknowledge that castlevania has always been a cheesy series centered on being fun to play above all else and that nobody should take seriously

The tone was fine for the most part, and the first (until the tavern) and fourth episodes were fantastic.

The only things it did wrong were lacking CV music and the cringe dialogue in the tavern.

Because it started as a film and they had no way of knowing if it would be a hit, especially since video game adaptations tend to do poorly.

So what would you do? Split that movie into four test episodes with solid budgets each, spend a lot of extra time writing twice as many episodes and spread the budget between them, or put a shit ton of money into more episodes and risk the whole thing failing?

In release order for sure, SoTN is the absolute best and Harmony of Dissonance is the one with the most disagreement on quality due it being an unapologetic SoTN clone but I wouldn't call any of them bad.

As retarded as pretending that Castlevania doesn't have a certain type of writing that was established in later titles, which the series borrows from.

I fucking loved AoS Julius mode for making his final boss an actual threat even with all other bosses defeated and stats upgraded.

It was legit difficult for its time until order of ecclesia came out. The card system was fucking bomb. Harmony tried to emulate the card system but with the sub weapons. Its a good entry and has some cool bosses.

I don't really care for Harmony but I fucking loved the alternate sub weapon uses in it and Lament of Innocence.
I would love to see that mechanic reused one more time.

No level ups, no forging, no RPG stuff period.

All I want is the remaining alternate mode characters and the other 2 GBA heroes but that would require effort to develop and god forbid they do anything that would require that.

No PC or next gen port. If it got on either or both, the lobbies will be full again.
