So now that Vicarious Visions have shown it's possible for a new studio to remake a game. Do you think Activision will pick someone good to do Spyro? Perhaps Vicarious Visions would be interested in doing it as well?
Insomniac is busy with Spiderman. Sony doesn't own the IP. And Activision is the owner of both Spyro and Crash. Now that crash has been so successful I think the shareholders have probably realized that Nintendo aren't the ONLY people capable of making positive, creative, nostalgic platformers. The money is there, and I think it'd be even easier to convince Activision to let Sony use the IP now that they've seen that it can make money.
I'm really hoping for a Spyro remake. I love crash, but Spyro is really special for me. The music, the back drops, the colors, the creativity. I fucking love the original 3 Spyros, and as cool as it was to see crash get updated graphics, I think spyro is truly one of the most beautiful games I've played.
Anyways, spyro thread. Opinions on if it'll get a remaster, who will make it, if it'll be successful etc. Or just talk about Spyro. Currently playing through the first one again, personally.
Also, what's your favorite of the original 3? I wanna say mine is probably 2. But I haven't played year of the Dragon in a while so idk. Can't find my copy of year of the Dragon :/

>Remake Crash is a remaster.

My bad. Remaster then. Remake implies what exactly?
Carson Rodriguez
3 has the best levels, best music and the side characters are fun and control well the only downside is the skating and sparx areas
the first is probably my second favorite, the world feels very lived in despite being so bare bones
ripto's rage is alright, I didn't have as much fun personally, only 3 hub worlds and the bosses are a bit iffy, especially with the hit detection

Remaster = They keep the same graphics, they do touch ups here and there, Nothing major. Remake = Games that are retelling of the original with brand new engine, artwork, sound, new secrets, etc.
Kevin Jackson
A remake CAN do all that stuff but not by definition. The N Sane Trilogy has a brand new Engine, and all assets are remade from the ground up, so it is a remake. The fact that they've used brand new assets to make the exact same game doesn't matter, it's still new assets.

The game is exactly like the original ones. Boxes are at the same place, bonus levels are the same, they didn't add secrets or new levels.
