civ 6 comes close
yeah there's a shitload of 'em
red zone on genesis has an 8 and a half minute long title track youtube.com
Civ 6 comes pretty close:
Not even close
I don't like this meme song
>it's just the Lord's Prayer in Swahili
Sucks all the fun out of it
Why?
Why does Swahili sound so exotic.
Because it's not a language you hear very often, unless you're from East Africa
That was my same reaction when I found out. Great song but it loses its aura when I found out it didn't tell a story through it lyrics or something.
because you're not East African
AC4A's menu music is fucking god tier.

>tfw still playing Civ IV
Should I bother with V or VI?
Having to learn new strategies and shit seems pretty boring
Also IV still has neat mods like fantasy or sci fi shit
too low energy compared to meme yetu
>actually implying that MUP DA DOO DIDDA BIX NOOD is better than some of Jesper Kyd's finest work
Obvious troll is obvious
>mfw hearing baba yetu again after having forgotten about it for years
They're fun, but IV is still better
Which mod should I get for IV?
Realism Invcitus
The question is - Was the song made for the opening or is it a real song sang before Civ IV?
>Realism Invcitus
Thanks good user! Will look into it.
It was composed for the game.
>implying baba yetu is just some black people speaking african
Yeah man, absolutely zero artistic talent went into making that song sound good.
>not setting it to the warlords screen instead of listening to nigger music every time you launch
I've only been using History Rewritten for a while now but that's because I'm too lazy to check new/better mods
I hate overbloated mods that add way too many things that the AI can't handle - Back in my days that was Rise of Mankind AND and Caveman 2 Cosmos, but it might be different now
Rise of Civilization for loads more content
Rise from Erebus for fantasy (it's basically Fall from Heaven 2 + loads of content)
There is an update for Fall from heaven 2? Amazing!
Does anything adds more historical events? Or are we so off the rails that they would not work?
>Warren Spector initially disliked the song and said he wasn't going to use it
>then he came back later and said he would because it had been playing in his mind all day and that was the mark of quality music
I like terra nova more than baba yetu.
I don't know, the Lords Prayer is probably among the most beautiful this ever written
lmao at all this blasphemy
Is this actually true? I was too young to understand Civ 4 when I played it but I'm enjoying the fuck out of Civ 5 now. What makes it better?
I like it because I find it a bit more dynamic and less gamey
I don't know, but it sounds great.
Different user but I would say if you have all the DLC 5 is just as good as if not better than 4. 5 was just missing alot of features at launch.
What are some good multiplayer mods for Civ 5?
They are both horribly mangled and casualized versions of 4. Sure, there are a couple neat ideas here or there in them, but overall they are made for the casual crowd.
Anime leaders
Civ 5 BNW was pretty hype, Civ 6 is a big downer, almost anti-hype actually. And it loops during the 5 minute loading screens as well so it got old really fucking fast
I don't even.
4 and 5 is a toss up, its hard to say. Beyond the sword was so fucking good. 6 is abysmal though
>Should I bother with V or VI?
no
The Civilization IV soundtrack made me fall in love with classical music. Such a great collection of pieces and movements.
>Having to learn new strategies and shit seems pretty boring
that's the best part though
>Beyond the sword was so fucking good
I loved that Ryse and Fall mod that came with it. It really sucks they haven't made a version for 5 or 6.
mfw playing the shit out of Rhyse and Fall when I was too young to understand how to play Europa Universalis
Thanks fedoralord
ZoEs is really good as well. I used to put the ZoE music on my Ipod in MGSIV a lot.
>mfw heared TERRA. NOVA. for the first time
>quit out and immediately replaced the .wav file with the G&K theme
yeesh
I honestly think so, yeah. Get Beyond the Sword and throw Rise of Mankind on it. Personally, it's close to my vision of 4X pefection.
Also try out Fall from Heaven
>Hakuna Matata just means "No worries" in Swahili
>Simba and Mufasa mean Lion and King in Swahili
>The opening to the Lion King literally just translates to "Dad, look, it's a lion!"
Swahili is a fucking gorgeous language, to the point where singing anything in Swahili makes it sound wonderful.
Couple that with a decisively Western, common prayer, and it's absolutely perfect for a game about the advancement of humanity.
V with all the DLC is almost as good as IV with all the DLC. In some ways it's better, and it's worse in a lot of others.
A better question would be why does Swahili sound so fucking good.
youtube.com
It's not "hype" but it's very quiet and somber. It really fits now too with how the series is basically going out to pasture thanks to EA.
>Nobody's posted Buck Bumble yet
youtube.com
>The opening to the Lion King
That was sung in Zulu, another badass African language.
How do I get into 4 coming from 5?
There's so much going on in comparison. There are a lot of things I like more than 5, but ultimately there's just so much to keep track of that it makes me feel retarded, especially since I'm just starting out.
5 is too far in the other direction though and I don't want to go back to it if I can help it.
spock will never narrate another civ game
Caveman2Cosmos
Though it dabbles in both historical and off-the-rails stuff. Like you can make Da Vinci's conceptual machines as units.
Heard you trying to talk about Civilization without mentioning the best game
Fix your fucking non-Yang AI and make non-standard map sizes viable and we'll talk, Miriam
G&K?
;_;
rip Mr Nimoy
Interesting. Thanks!
Why was she right all along?
And how do I get back into Alpha Centauri?
6 is fundamentally fucked by the idiotic choice to split the tech tree into two. This makes shields/hammers by far the most important resource since you have to race to get your units out and use them before the next tech makes them obsolete - and the production costs have to be high because 1UPT would cause mass map flooding otherwise. This leads to extremely repetitive gameplay with only one viable strategy. On the other hand, slowing down the tech progress that much would make the game run on boring marathon speed by default.
Unless they massively pad out the trees or rework them entirely, Civ 6 will remain shit. It has more problems of course, but this one is the most basic and important.
>Thought it was because he hated working with Sid Meier or something
>Forgot he died
Thanks for reminding me, faggot.
Damn that's a hell of a song, I really need to get this game

>zak then
>Heh your beliefs are fairly *unsheates network node* infantilistic...
>zak now
>Mommy! The shroom-god is going to eat me, save me plant-mommy!
Civ6 beats it. Literally only good thing about that game.
I don't even play Civ but I listen to this every once in awhile because it's so fucking good. I really wish there were more music like this, anywhere really. I need more beautiful songs with African vocals and stuff.
Yeah I really like this one, it's not hype but it captures that sci fi feeling really well.
