>bosses from early game team up against you and fight you again late in the game
or
>early game bosses become regular enemies

>optional superbosses
>fighting an enemy before they join your team

dimensional supervillains that seemingly have no reason for their actions other than EVERYTHING MUST DIE

Whatever the shit Shay pulled is called
betraying former guys and then hunting them down, each are their own sperate boss etc.

>Objective: Survive
No matter how much it gets memed on here, I still love seeing it

>teaming up with the main bad guy

>Game has an ending
>Like, the story actually comes to a satisfying and definitive conclusion
>Not a cliffhanger, or worse, credits at a completely inappropriate time

I can't believe I have to actually say that out loud.

>able to carry literally tons of supplies in an open world survival game

What games

It's only fun if you don't fuck it up.

>Objective: Kill Shepard

one of the halo games, dont know which

>Nazis were actually occult superscientists
Love that shit.

This. Horizon Zero Dawn can suck my dick in that regard.

LOL

ACTUALLY

THE ANCIENT EVIL IS STILL ALIVE

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>you're not some super chosen one soldier
>you're just a normal grunt that signed up for the army

>Main character has absolute deadpan response to all the wacky bullshit that goes on around him
I know an actual well-written character that actually interacts with the characters around him is objectively better but there's something fun about projecting your own reactions into the protag.

>there are other heroes in the world looking to stop the big bad
>they don't have a big impact on the story, they're just there for worldbuilding

Fast paced action game.
Rival fight

>the fight against a greater evil is without hope

Sadly it is so underused.

halo reach

>main character is just pissed and does shit
PRO-LVL:
>he questions why every now and then

1 on 1 fights with a rival/equal

Also Crisis Core
you can't beat the final battle.

>all boss battles in the game are rival type fights
>rival fight is extra rival

>obligatory traitor character in the party

>rival fight
>HEATED rival fight
>rival joins your party after finally having a satisfying 1v1 bout
>bonus points for flower field as a stage

>Dynamic soundtrack

>antagonist character sacrifices himself to save the main character from a bigger evil

>"maybe we're both the same, you and I"

>Luftrausers
>song changes for each different plane part you equip
my dick was diamonds

>Fight villain boss over the course of a game
>beat them one final time, and they join your team
>they're one of the best party members even though their stats are reduced
or
>Main villain of a previous game comes back in the sequel as an ally with boss stats intact

to expand on this
>Main protag gets pissed off by evil villain's scheme
>unlock final attack or new mode
>go apeshit on everything around them

>coop game ends with a showdown
>both players have the exact same equipment

>objective: survive
>meet mission objective
>game keeps going until you die
End of Halo Reach was maximum overhype, and a great end to the series.

>villain has no reason for being evil, just is

>Smug asshole of the party sacrifices himself to protect everyone

tales of beseria has been amazing so far. she almost literally doesn't care about anything else, simply pissed at the main bad guy.

>boss destroys the stage you're fighting him on

>game makes you question your morals

>You are the final boss

WHAT
Is this legit?

>you're winning the fight but once you get the boss to 25% a cutscene plays where he turns the tables and beats you

>teaming up with the bad guy to defeat a greater evil
>after that's finished, you and the bad guy have your final battle

>Boss theme against a rival/your dark self is a remixed version of the main theme

>as the fight goes on the music gets more and more intense and orchestral
>vocals kick in towards the end

>don't know who the villain is or even if there is a main villain until the latter half of the game
>even if you figure out who the villain is immediately, your character doesn't
>main character is continuously manipulated by main villain
>during the final bossfight your closest friend betrays you

twin Dragonriders

capra demon, Taurus demon

lol!!

>to expand on this
>>Main protag gets pissed off by evil villain's scheme
>>unlock final attack or new mode
>>go apeshit on everything around them
I wish [Prototype 2] would have done this. It would've been so fucking great!

>main antagonist is a genuinely hate able character and you find great satisfaction out of kicking his ass

>initial villain was trying to save the world the only way they knew how from an even greater threat

bonus points when you can fuck and marry them at the end

>your character is a master adventurerer and outdoorsman but cannot swim and will instantly drown if he tries
Now that's what I'm talking about. Fuck characters that can do anything

Are Groundhog Day time-loops a trope? Because I eat that shit up every time.

Nier tomato did it sooooo good.

No, that's an anti-trope. The trope is when time moves forward normally, officially called And Time Marches On.

FFX did this pretty well with those other two summoners, the rival mean-girl with the thug who end up helping you and the Nice Guy with his little brother who turn against you

>Majoras Mask
>FF XIII, Lighting returns
>Bravely default

>game ending is mostly satisfying but a cliffhanger comes out of nowhere
>not a sequel hook, just an encouragement to do the true ending which wraps everything up with a neat bow and finishes the story entirely, showing exactly how the cliffhanger was actually related to an earlier plot point

>bonus points when you can fuck and marry them at the end

Are there games that do this?

>Main villain of a previous game comes back in the sequel as an ally with boss stats intact
>mfw Renne and Richard join the party in TitS the 3rd
>mfw they're just as broken and strong as before
Everyone else was just there for decoration at that point, and Kevin firing off the occasional Gate of Babylon.

Every friendly npc from dark souls, specially:

>Solaire
>Benhart
>Lucatiel
>Anri

>game has easily reachable endings that pretend to be true ends

Only one that I know of, which is an SRPG called Stella Glow.

The girl is a cute, thousand year old loli who's very jaded and even seemingly cruel.

>officially

>Characters communicate with each other upon hearing or seeing something
>Characters change their tone of voice depending on the situation
L4D2 had the right idea. Still waiting on the 3rd one or an origin story

>twins who switched places in childhood

my fav trope is when the game is actually good and enjoyable

TVTropes is the official trope authority. See the trope It Was All In Centralization

this made me cringe so hard I can't even see straight...oh my god

Overplayed as fuck

SOMA may work for you

>villain is actually just you gone back in time in an attempt to stop you

>The main antagonist was actually that seemingly harmless scientist that acted like he was working for the bad guys against his will.

>implying the guy isnt SSStylish as fuck

Metal Arms: glitch in the system

>you were actually the villain
>you can't win the final battle because the heroes are supposed to win

my dick really hurts when I look at this girl
it gets really hard and swollen
what should i do?

wrong thread
wrong post level
wrong board

>game has a consistent soundtrack that creates motifs for characters and locations and has variations that represent the narrative
>not just "oh the boss theme is a remix"

you have good taste

what you should do is scour the internet for her nudes and then post them here when you find them.

She's also a coal burner.
Sorry user.

A+

source please

wow, a half note C pianissimo
so hardcore
maybe if you're a flute player
fuckin faggot

>the trash mobs you've been slaughtering wholesale throughout the entire story are actually transformed humans
>some of your trusted companions were actually working against you
>the big hairy beast boss is eren's brother

where can i find full pic?

This just makes me sad.

I can't remember the last game I played that didn't end in blatant sequel bait.

Evil vs. Evil

>fighting against a boss
>the theme is the boss singing

>Coop game ends with a showdown
>Players get to pick which side they are on
>Who wins determines the ending

more for me then white boy.

this ones my favorite trope of all time:
>jrpg actually has good gameplay

me too nigga

her name?

>game has intentionally bad gameplay because it's a deconstruction of the medium
>questions the meaning of "fun" and "game" and whether interactive video experiences actually have to be games

>The only way to get the best ending is if you had a guide or extreme luck
>The game hints at this in the ending monologue

if you can get past the boring gameplay, the atmosphere is really nice especially toward the end, and the plot is pretty good even if the dumb fucking main character has the same realization twice and shouldn't be surprised by the final outcome at all, dumb twat

they actually did that? Man I should play the new SC game

Reminds me of how for NG+ I had to follow a guide for Persona 3 to get all the relationships.

>One on one duel with a villain to the death for a character to finally avenge their friend
or
>Absolve them of their actions and join forces to defeat the greater evil

>game has a cute girl character that you have the choice to forcefully rape for a sex scene
>can't copulate with her any other way
>if you rape her you can't get the true end
>thus have to choose between satisfying your desires and getting the real ending
