ITT good games that will never get sequels

ITT good games that will never get sequels

I don't think that game needs a sequel as much as it needs a "spiritual successor".

Sleeping Dogs 2 never ever

>dark messiah
>good
"no"

Leave

>play through HoMM5
>realize the campaign is the prequel to this

why is no in quotes

it's shit. there is nothing that redeems it

You scared of spiders or something?

Crysis 3 wasn't too amazing, but i'm still sad that the series seems dead. 2 and the original were fucking brilliant

>ironically disliking Dark Messiah to be contrarian
RARE POST

Space Marine 40k whatever it was called. The one with the fun-horde-mode

I only ever played the first one, I actually recently bought the Warhead expansion on GOG.

Man, they really fucked the console version of this game into the dirt.

What that boring Gears 1 clone? No thanks

>Gears 1 clone
You can't be serious? Did you even play the game?

Don't fucking bother replying to him. He's farming (You)s to try and fill the void of meaning in his existence.

Fuck me though, how would you even start making a sequel to Dark Messiah? Which ending is cannon? Which girl is cannon? Is it still tied to the HoMM universe, or are we looking at another timeline here? I know Xana features in HoMM VI, but did the prophecy come to pass in that? Sareth isn't mentioned at all and doesn't feature, so what was his fate?

...

It was max comfy.

It was hot garbage

It wasn't the best game ever, but hot garbage? C'mon. It had a lot of potential and I found it enjoyable.

I'm still pissed that Homefront got a sequel, but the GOAT freedom-fightan game is dead forever.

Is there much roleplaying in dark messiah?
Or is it mostly an action game?

I would love a sequel to this if they managed to keep the good while polishing the utter bland.

Its an action game.

But god fuck dam does it shit on damn near every other game with first-person melee combat.

>cast ice spell on the floor
>enemies start slipping around

It was one of the few games where I can remember daggers being viable for a 'run-in-and-fuck-shit-up' playthrough as much as a stealth playthrough and for that alone, it gets a thumbs up from me, not to mention the power of your boot, the ways you could waste fuckers with the environment and so on.

It was action, but there were a few major choice moments in it. Basically they boil down to (spoilers alert)
>Save Leanna, a righteous, goodly girl and a skilled mage from a giant spider, or leave her to rot at the suggestion of Xana...
>Exorcise Xana, a demonic succubus who has been aiding you since the start of the game and encouraging you to make your own choices and embrace your own demonic powers, or keep her...
And then later...
>Release your demonic father from his prison to conquer/destroy all of the world, or keep him sealed away forever

What's interesting is that even though Xana encourages you at first to free your father she then has second thoughts and makes it clear she's loyal to YOU, not the one who sent her there, so no matter who you choose (if you choose to keep Xana, Leanna believes she has corrupted you and tries to kill you to stop you from freeing your father) you can choose to take either ending.

Before I start a war I just wanna say I liked 3 and 4 as well, but they will get sequels.

>not to mention the power of your boot
Amen.

Still fun. The end was basically Beelzeboss, though

Xana a best girl.

we don't even know if emergence was a sequel

Ubisoft will ruin it anyway, they will probably turn it to another soulless open world with shitty combat and animations, no thanks, lets just keep it as it is.

what're you talking about
we got this masterpiece

Dragons Dogma
MGR

Damn fucking right.

Leanna bosses you around and moralises and basically always tells you "Do this do that." I get that she does that because she has your best intentions at heart, but fuck that.

Xana always just encourages you. She might SUGGEST you do things or try to push you in a direction, but if you choose something else, she goes along with it. The only time she directly acts against you, much less is hostile to you, is to preserve her own life. Which I honestly think is fair enough, you know?

I wish I could have just parted ways with Leanna like, "Look, I know you don't approve of the demon in my head but I'm not about to let my dad destroy/rule the world so let's just agree with share an enemy here, okay?" I mean I didn't LIKE her, but I didn't want to KILL her.

Best ending was telling dad, "You know what? I like this world the way it is, so you can stay in hell," and running off to explore and live like a boss with Xana. You might end up a king, or an adventurer, or a legend, or you might just vanish into history, but it's with best girl at your side and a living world you owe nothing to and that owes you nothing.

>Dragons Dogma
Dragon's Dogma Online exists.

Also, DD2 is happening. TGS soon, faget.

Sad as fuck to be desu uguu.

It's not in English though, right?
Also I sure fucking hope so.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Time for another playthrough I guess.

On another note, I kinda wish the multiplayer was still around for it. I never got to play it much when I first got the game because my pc was shit, but it seemed pretty fun.

It's not even funny anymore man

>HoMM5
is it really? how

The devs who made it were making a spiritual successor call Hellraid but put it indefinite hold in order to make a mobile version of the game

obligatory.
IN MY MIIIIIIIIND

I swear to god, I will find you and beat you with a stick of butter, man. I have been so hard for Bannerlord for so long that I am about three seconds from murder at any given point someone mocks my anticipation.

The multiplayer always felt entirely un-necessary to me. Imagine how much better the single-player could have been if those resources allocated for a frankly kind of underwhelming multiplayer were put into more single-player stuff.

I mean, I'd even buy a re-make or re-master if they'd just bring the graphics and engine up to speed; NOT TOUCH the mechanics and combat; and 2-4 hours more single-player content - just some extra fooling around on your quest prior to reaching the city, or not on the island... Maybe a bit of post-game stuff, like a bonus level. Nothing special, just a bit more, you know?

Part of the inferno campaign details Xana's fall to becoming a demon. Basically, she was the daughter of a powerful mage and when her boy cheated on her, so she impulsively summoned an imp inside his robes. She was burned at the stake and awoke in hell as a succubus.
>tfw it's made clear in HoMM5 that she isn't faking her sweetness or sincerity in Dark Messiah and she is categorically stated to be practically the only demon to never lie
Could Xana honestly be any more best girl? I don't think so!

Yeah that's true. I'd much rather have seen more singleplayer stuff in it, even if it was just for a couple hours of stuff.

Xana was one of the most memorable of my younger waifus. God dat voice.
I've been replaying the game after years, on hard, and it's kicking my ass. I thought I was less casual Than this, but I guess newer games softened me up.

Shit dude I gotta play that again. Never been into the HOMM games just only Dark Messiah. are they worth getting into, does it have any connection to the rest of the series?

It already has, it's called Dishonored

FUCKING THIS

...

Last time I played, I played it on hard. Those ghouls in the necropolis level fucked my shit up real good.

Ehhh... They vary. They vary wildly. HoMM3 is widely regarded as the best by a long way; it's just the ultimate comfort game for fans of the series. HoMM4 was a bit of a black sheep, but okay I suppose. 5 is still okay, but where we started seeing decline. As for 6, don't even bother; it's hot garbage.

I only played it once I was in college, but you're not wrong. You're also not wrong about it being tough as nails at times. I remember going back to old games all the time and saying, "I swear this didn't used to kick my ass this badly-!" Maybe if it's a good game, you just don't remember all the times you got fucked up in it...

It'd be nice to have a bit more time alone with Xana on your way to Stonehelm, or some time with Leanna, to just get to know them a bit better and give your later decisions more weight. Or a post-game bonus level where you go hunting for a horde of treasure or something; or battle against an angel on your father's behalf if you took that route... Just something to clue us in on what Sareth will be doing next. You could even approach each mission different ways depending on if you saved Leanna or Xanna, in addition to them talking or flirting with you, remarking on the world you've helped create.

I liked Dishonoured, but... No. Nonono. Not even close. Not in story, not in gameplay, not in sheer, classic fantasy cheesiness. It is just flat-out inferior.

One of them is a great game that takes place in a classic fantasy setting
Other one has edgy meme assassins
Not my spiritual successor

That's unfortunate to hear. Are the HoMM games standaone or they have an ongoing story? Events of Dark Messiah referenced in the later HoMM games?

MUV LUV OKAY I SAID IT

I think not

the only M&M games that matter are made by NWC

They DO have a continuing storyline, but the games are all out of order chronologically and I don't think HoMM1 and 2 had any story at all... Add to that, the story is split between Heroes of Might and Magic (the strategy games) and just Might and Magic (the RPGs). As far as I know, Dark Messiah is the last game in the timeline. Games published after that slot in earlier in the overall chronology.

...

>never get to kill subhuman commies in a great game like this again
Shittiest timeline by far.
