I worked at Nintendo from 2010 to 2016 as a "liason" that helped three different departments communicate with one another; a position as redundant as you'd expect. I have extensive knowledge of the Wii U and Switch's R&D.
Ask me anything.

Why is the switch so underpowered
It's a handheld, retard.
And tell us everything you know about the localization department.
prove it in literally any way
everyone below this line is trolled

disregard this he's lying. I know all about this stuff though, my dad works an nintendo.
Dont get angry I have one, its still more underpowered that it needs to be.
No you didn't.
Did they fuck up the WiiU development by initially planning for it to be a 'next gen' console and take the place of the switch, or did they genuinely want to create a DLC version of the console that's only a minor improvement on their current model?
kill yourself.
Remember that sage is an option for shti thread like these
Uses Novidya instead if waiting a couple months for a zen apu
could you go fuck yourself

Hi, dad!!!
Oh, do point me to the gaming handheld that is stronger than a Switch
Did you ever get tempeted to pinch a loaf onto the photocopier while no one was looking?
How did your boss like his coffee?
lol
>i worked at Nintendo
>doesn't use a trip
At the time the contract was worked out, the Tegra X1 was capable, cheap, and seemed to suit the project the best. A late 2016/early 2017 launch was considered a key goal, so the only way a cheap Tegra X2-based SoC could work is if Nintendo waited until at least 2018.
Didn't work there, didn't really associate with them. Yes, they're aware of how upset they make Western fans of JRPGs.
I could go on for hours and hours, but the main issues were nobody being able to communicate with one another, and NCL (Japan) being extremely out of touch when it came to how casual consumers viewed tablets and the previous Wii. The Wii U went through a ton of different pitches and concepts before things started to become a little more clear.
It was generally agreed-upon that the successor to the Wii could benefit from a second screen experience like the DS, to the point where it was once pitched as "Nintendo TVS". NCL was under the impression that literally everyone who bought a Wii was enjoying it every single day and enjoying every single feature. They considered Wii BC and branding too important to NOT be associated with the project.
Like I said, I could go on and on about this. It's hair-pullingly frustrating.
One of my bosses would only drink diet soda in the mornings, and it would consistently give them diarrhea.
What Kirby games were cancelled?
Why can't you spell liaison then? Surely a man who worked there would be able to spell his own title.
It's localised.
Are there any cool third-party games coming for the Switch that have yet to be announced?
>america is the whole world
Let me trigger you again COLOUR
How does it feel that Nintendo has the worst Glassdoor reviews right below rockstar?
>literally got fired for doing this at my first job
I think you posted on Sup Forums before and you mentioned that Nintendo was about to do a major rebranding of the Wii U. What would that have looked like? Would the new Wii U have looked like a Switch?
Liaison is liaison in all forms of English.
The OP has an image of Nintendo of America.
At what point did Nintendo realize the Wii U was a sinking ship? Is it true they had their heads so far up their asses that they ignored AMD telling them to improve the hardware?
Anything you got regarding the shamless porting of shit like mario kart and splatoon.
If not just anything interesting on ARMS
Also tripcode yourself man.
>it's a handheld
>except when it's not
We're going to keep having this argument until Nintendo comes out and says one or the other, aren't we?
pls just talk about the Wii U, I am fascinated/bitter by how much of a failure it was
In your honest opinion. How do you think the Switch will do overall. Also, are there any projects you can confirm that no one knows about yet?
>they're aware of how upset they make Western fans of JRPGs.
So they do it on purpose because they hate us?
Why do they do it?
...
>its still more underpowered that it needs to be.
by what metric? The battery in it is already HUGE
It's a handheld console dude
Why couldn't voice chat be on the Switch itself? Is it due to hardware constraints?
Whats the deal with virtual console on switch
Tablets with similar hardware last for hours on a single charge on smaller batteries.
This.
It shouldn't be an argument. Ever. It's obviously both.
Whether you say "It's a console you can take on the go." or "It's a handheld you can play on your TV." You can look at it however you want to look at it. That's the added benefit for shitposters and defenders alike.
Thirding this
>NCL was under the impression that literally everyone who bought a Wii was enjoying it every single day and enjoying every single feature.
This is hilarious to read because you know it's true. Only Nintendo could be retarded enough to consider Wii a long-term success.
But do those devices play console games? It's not just the hardware that is the deciding factor of the battery life. Software being used can effect how much power is being drained at any moment. Have you ever played a demanding game on your phone before? You'd notice that the battery drains much faster when you do. It's the same for handhelds like the 3DS and Vita.
It's not as simple as you try to make it out to be.
>Is it due to hardware constraints?
Anyone who says that is lying. The Vita managed it just fine.
>A late 2016/early 2017 launch was considered a key goal, so the only way a cheap Tegra X2-based SoC could work is if Nintendo waited until at least 2018.
This basically confirms a New Nintendo Switch is coming out in a year or two.
It's because Nintendo is stuck in 1998 and believes the internet still works according to what it was like twenty years ago.
That's what every handheld is. Handheld stands for portable console.
Go away, Allison.
Waiting for OP...
Nintendo ninjas got him
It takes time to make shit up.
Why does Nintendo think that cutting features and censoring their games are a good idea?
With Xenoblade X they even cut voices out of the game altogether, and didn't even dub them. While reducing the number of voice actors in total.
Why can't they just keep the original audio? Especially if the games actually sell better outside of Japan.
There was a Kirby/Yoshi crossover pitch from around 2013 that got rejected. That's all I know about that.
Skyrim is 'the big one'. It started out as an NVIDIA Shield port, but was switched over (see what I did there?) once the inclusion of the Tegra X1 was a done deal. Nintendo DID moneyhat it.
At the time of my departure, Nintendo was in talks with both Activision and Square Enix to port two major games over.
A redesign was in the works and planned out in great detail. The goal was to simply drive the cost down as much as possible, so you would have seen a matte console with removed (front) USB ports, and a completely-redesigned GamePad with stuff like the expansion port and IR sensor removed. Nintendo decided against this, so they could focus on manufacturing N3DS/N3DS XL systems.
I could devote an entire day's worth of discussion over this. NCL's stubbornness was pretty much the Achilles' heel.
How out of touch can they be to think that anyone gives a single fuck about skyrim in 2017
The crowds seemed to love it every time it appeared during E3.
If they were going to remove the IR sensor from a revised Wii U, why did they add it back to the Switch? Seems very useless.
For a handheld it's OVERpowered.
Is there a successor to the 3DS planned or being considered
>It started out as an NVIDIA Shield port, but was switched over (see what I did there?) once the inclusion of the Tegra X1 was a done deal.
It was never intended for the Shield. Why are you making this up?
Development only actually begun in late 2016, well after the Tegra was confirmed. It wasn't a driving factor.
>If they were going to remove the IR sensor from a revised Wii U, why did they add it back to the Switch?
The IR sensor is for controller plug ins on the right Joycon.
>It was generally agreed-upon that the successor to the Wii could benefit from a second screen experience like the DS, to the point where it was once pitched as "Nintendo TVS". Im a huge WiiU fan and this is exactly what I expected to hear.
was she the office slut?
what the fuck i know i selected the image
Is this a role playing thread or are there genuine retards on here?
Hey OP here is my question. I notice that different office positions at NOA Redmond require varying levels of Japanese. How ever some make it seem like japanese isnt needed, but only required if you want to work in Japan/with Japanese. So, do you know Japanese? I just started learning and can read hiragana and katakana (but dont know much vocabulary). Do I have a fair shot at an office or HR position? My resume is fine, just wondering about requirements to perform duties.
>I worked at Nintendo from 2010 to 2016
>worked
>Ask me anything.
What made you stop?
>I can read kana
>can I do a job that needs japanese
just post the pics already
The executive positions say they require Japanese, but clerical and office positions say Japanese is only needed if you want Japanese duties. its not so clear on what kind of experience they want with it
I believe you, OP
Nintendo IS that retarded.
I have faith in it. It's a simple concept that isn't bogged down with unnecessary innovation/gimmicks. It's relatively easy to develop for. NOA has more of a strong hand in the Switch than they did with previous platforms. It'll easily outdo the Wii U's lifetime sales (around 13M) by Q2 2018.
Slight hardware constraints, and NCL being out-of-touch. The Switch's system software is extremely responsive and smooth, and Nintendo's focused on keeping it as lightweight as possible. Adding more features to it would mean the OS would need more RAM to function as expected. This is the same reason why Netflix and Hulu are nowhere to be found, and why the Switch OS doesn't even run at 720p.
As for reason #2, NCL (Japan) is under the impression that a more open online interaction system will lead to children being taken advantage of. This is reflective of Japan as a whole having very antiquated views of the internet as a whole. This is why you see Nintendo's internet presence being almost 100% from NOA, whether it's social media, YouTube, Nintendo Minute, etc.
Not quite. There were plans at some point to patch and re-release existing 3DS games to support the N3DS' features and controls, but that obviously didn't work out.
I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo released a smaller handheld that would be mainly compatible with the upcoming successor to the VC and select indie eShop titles. **ahem**
My position was deemed redundant.
>My position was deemed redundant.
Well. That sucks.
Did you like the job though?
Why is there no virtual console on switch
Also anything on mother 3
>My position was deemed redundant.
wait Nintendo is downsizing? Was the WiiU that much of a disaster? Maybe the position will come back in a few years when the switch is top dog
How much money hourly and yearly do you make working with Nintendo?
this guy is obviously full of shit and virtually everything he says is just pandering to your preconceived notions of how nintendo operates and thinks
Yes , um... Where te videogames at?
>As for reason #2, NCL (Japan) is under the impression that a more open online interaction system will lead to children being taken advantage of.
i mean, they're not wrong
Are those tablets running fucking full length games on them you shitlipped mongoloid
Super fake
Not him. But as far as I am aware they severely downsized NoE, while expanding NoA.
And they did that whole merger thing of their departments at home in Japan too. Restructuring the whole company.
>thread is about Nintendo of America
>STOOPEED AMERICAWNS ALWAYZ ZINK DA WORLD IZ ABOWT DEM HAW HAW HAW!
>There was a Kirby/Yoshi crossover pitch from around 2013 that got rejected.
Good. Whoever pitched that idea should be banned from the company.
Hi, OP here. Sorry I was just fucking with you guys but I'm bored now. Any further posts are not from me.
If you do end up working at Nintendo, make fucking sure you become an uncle. Complete the legend. Make one claim true.
Hi, OP here. The guy above is just fucking with you. I'll post more in a minute.
Any words on a gen 4 Pokemon remake?
DOE + full benes
Hell they shoulda let the children get traumatized. In Counter Strike days I learned just how worthless I was first hand from the chatter. It should be a rite of passage.
Hi, OP here. I want to fuck you guys. I'll post dicks in a minute.
>One of my bosses would only drink diet soda in the mornings, and it would consistently give them diarrhea
You are describing me, aren't you?
>This is the same reason why Netflix and Hulu are nowhere to be found, and why the Switch OS doesn't even run at 720p.
>Netflix and Hulu are never ever tier
Ill keep my WiiU, thanks
>The Switch's system software is extremely responsive and smooth, and Nintendo's focused on keeping it as lightweight as possible.
I figured that would be the reason
i have diarrhea every morning no matter what I do. I didnt even poop in the AM before I turned 25
>This is the same reason why Netflix and Hulu are nowhere to be found
Hang on, how is RAM an issue when Netflix and Hulu run fine on 360 with 512MB?
>Not netflix and hulu
while fucking phones/Wii can do this fawlessly.
either you're bullshitting, or the Nips are autistic...
and I think i trust what you say.
