In the old games, you had to spend hours poking around the environment for hint coins. It's basically necessary to solve the harder puzzles, and it took enjoyment out of the game.

Now you can simply spend a dollar or two and buy hint coins! Fun!

I know, I'm going to stick to physical media as long as I can, I've only tentatively started trusting Steam and possibly Nintendo's virtual console, but there is something about paid apps on mobile markets that I just don't like. I've only ever bought a handful of apps, no games. I don't really do freemium shit either.

I guess I'll wait until I can get a fully unlocked version for my Android phone. I've never pirated a phone game before though so have no idea what to look for.

The key is in the wording of the question; only two are distinct, while the third is actually one of the two.

Definitive 3DS version has no microtransactions, all the content, and is still the optimal way to play Layton.

Unless you're fine with moonrunes you'll have to wait a bit because the jews delayed the English 3DS version to make the mobile version more enticing.

I've heard that only those costumes and the puzzles that come with them are IAP. What is this about hint coins being iap too

You have to set all the clocks to the same time, the important thing is figuring out at which time do you have to set them. The clocks are displaying 3 different times, and you are given the margin by which 2 clocks are off, so if you can find a time at which these 2 clock meets when accounting for the margin, you can disregard the third clock since it's stopped.

The real question is why would you want to set the correct time for a stopped clock.

It's a flop with players like you and me. But it could be a success with the millions of casuals who only buy iPhone games.

Bigger audience means more potential sales. If you have a billion iPhone users, and 0.005% of them buy your game, you've already made more sales than you would on 3DS.

the only in-app purchases in the game are for costumes that come with a puzzle and most of them are for her to dress up as other characters in the series.
