That bitch better dry his tears and get back in there, he's the best America's got.
>the African and the American loses
>sad
Non-Americans aren't welcomed here
Did you know that for the duration of this gif, he was actually replaying the match in his head? When he raised his eyebrow's he lost, which caused him to go into relapse. It's not his fault.
it was a triumph
t. tokido fan
not much of an alpha now huh nerd
>America
More like the best in the world. Only been playing fighting games for only a year and not only won the tournament with the largest prize pool but got 2nd place in his first Evo.
explain
Bet you his dick is STILL bigger then yours.
SFV blows but that was one of the best Grand Finals ever. The way Tokido just mentally destroyed Punk is something you don't see everyday the second he did the taunt combo I knew it was over just because at the end of the day Punk is just a 18 year old kid who is nervous as hell playing against probably the god of fighting games in front of a huge crowd while its being aired on national TV.
If he comes back and wins next year it will be the best redemption storyline possible.
Quick rundown: 18 y/o niglet fighting game "prodigy" makes it to grand finals of world's annual premiere tournament of 3000 entrants in dominating fashion and gets crushed by a 32 y/o Japanese fighting vet in the end
Hello kappa
>didn't care about sfv at all
>decide to tune in
>tfw I saw his soul crushed
I hope he pulls through and wins next year. Such a sad way to go out.
>first Evo
>2nd place
And he's fucking crying? Sounds like he was extremely confident that he'd be taking that one home, otherwise he'd have just been happy to be there. Don't feels sad for him. The humility will do him favors.
The crazy thing is Punk completely outplayed and destroyed Tokido earlier in the tournament so he clearly was better at the actual game than Tokido. He got crushed solely because Tokido fucking destroyed Punks psyche and played into his nerves thats some next level shit.
Maybe the moment a few years back when Cosmo got BTFO by John Numbers so hard his mind snapped.
Apparently Tokido beat him pretty convincingly in a MM or some serious FT? set outside of the bracket
you would know
It helps to know that the guy that beat him, had to beat him in 2 sets. Punk would have only had to win 1. The reason is that his opponent, Tokido, made it back to Grand Finals from the loser's bracket. Punk is the one who sent him to loser's to begin with.
To be fair I'd probably be more upset getting second place than getting third and down. Being that close to winning it all is heartbreaking.
He was set to win Americas first ever Evo because he dominated everyone through the year and through out Evo. To end up getting destroyed in front of millions of people and feeling like you let your country down will definitely effect your emotions also he just recently turned 18 he's young as hell.
He's been playing fighting games for a long time before he decided to get into the scene last year.
Real niggas don't cry
I noticed that too. The way his face looked as he moved onto grand finals and every loss he took after GF made him even more nervous. Poor guy.
Still, making grand finals at EVO when you're 18 is goddamn impressive. Even KnuckleDu hasn't made Top 8 despite entering at a younger age.
>Tokido winning a round with a taunt combo
It was at that point you can almost hear Punks heart shatter because he knew he just wasn't gonna win.
Yeah Tokido took advantage of his rookie experience and broke him with that taunt combo.
But you get more money for 2nd than you do further down.
Money doesn't mean shit. Pic related.
SFV is unwatchable. SFIV was way better from a spectator standpoint.
You know, I was actually pretty pissed that Tokido had to go there against Punk, but apparently, taunt combos build a lot more meter.
I can't be mad at that.
Eh, not exactly. They had apparently played games together before EVO started and Tokido destroyed him there already, to the point where Punk said he was nervous going into his first Evo match with Tokido. And considering Tokido then won more overall matches in Evo against Punk, it's kinda hard to say that Punk is better than Tokido at the game.
You have to admit that LI Joe vs. Yukadon from last year's Top 8 was pretty hype though.
>1 lone American in Top 8
>going up against an elder Jap god
>down 0-2
>manages to claw his way back to 2-2 through sheer force of will
He still came in like 7th or 8th, but that was one hell of a fight.
I agree but Tokido vs Punk is definitely the best set I've seen in the game so far might even be the best Evo Grand Finals in the modern era right next to Bonchan vs Louffy
grats to toki doki grinding it out with akumie
didn't think akumer was tournament material
Tokido literally had another Karin player (Mago) to not only practice against, but to scout out Punk. I feel like Tokido did literally everything he could to prep specifically for Punk.
>The focused Asian beats the goofball African at a video game
Literally nothing is sad or surprising about this. The American FGC is toxic and filled with loud and smelly untermensch who scare away our best and brightest.
Excellent fight, excellent EVO, anti-SFV faggots can go fuck themselves. Sajam said a great thing before Chen started crying like a bitch.
"We can see Punk maturing right before our own eyes"
Punk is good. He's really fucking good.
But hopefully this fight will make him be the best.
Tokido showed him that it takes more than confidence, taunts, autism and practice to win against somebody like him. It's beyond meta, the fight was over before it started.
Hopefully he doesn't get butthurt and then arrogant that much that it stifles his progress like it did with Nuckledu.
It's fair, Punk is a fucking force of nature in this game, it's only natural that a veteran like Tokido will prepare to face his greatest threat in the tourney
Woshige thinking he won EVO 2015 and walking away when the next round started
Why should someone go fuck themselves for disliking an underwhelming product
That was some next level nerd shit. I hope Punk puts in more practice and comes back even harder. Dude is the best chance America will have at winning any Japanese fighting game.
>Marn being the 1st person to ask about money
This, plus being just out of high school I'd assume it's still pretty easy to rattle his cage. Hope the kid hardens his nerves a bit and brings a drink next time. Tilting is the number one killer in these parts.
>feeling sad for someone who won $150k a few months ago, teabagged a bunch in tournaments, and consistently won majors to a point where even Americans were rooting for Tokido
You didn't watch the grand finals, did you?
Maybe because that underwhelming product made one of the best series of matches in any tournament in the last 10 years and maybe because it's a matter of jaded perspective that has not a single shred of flexibility?
This is reasonable, I guess. I hope that he doesn't ball up and not get back in there next year.
It didn't, it was made by the players
Fuck, I remember flipping through the channels and watching that. All I could think is "holy shit, that guy is choking hard" and on national television? And I hear he's a "she" now and looked like hshe crawled out of a crypt? That must've really messed with him.
SFV isn't unwatchable but at a certain point it feels like you've seen everything - characters feel "capped" in terms of what they can do. Almost like Overwatch, it's a way of forcing balance into the game.
Their should be an "V-ism" type system that allows you to pull off impossible custom combos like in Alpha. Maybe make it a big risk/reward thing that empties both meters.
>players
>playing by the rules of a game
>game is SFV
What's your point exactly?
he was finally put in his place. acted too much like an scumbag since he got famous into the scene
>Post a sadder competitive gaming moment
competitive gaming
I feel like Tokido earned his right to win GF after having some of the toughest sets of his life.
And those were even before GF. Itazan and FChamp both gave him a run for his money as did Kazunoko.
Dude has been at evo events since before Punk has been born and never won an SF evo win, until now.
Totally deserves it.
Didn't this happen last year with Infiltration's Nash? It was only when the Jap players had Bonchan's Nash to practise with that Infiltration started looking more vulnerable.
He's only 18 years old and it's clear he lost because he lacked experience in comparison.
the best matches in any game have more to do with stories than the game
the story of an old veteran who could never make it to the top against an extremely new player who just fucking decimates everyone is amazing
Not to mention that Tokido had a pocket karin to practice against and learn about, and punk had knocked him into losers earlier in the tournament
I don't think SFV is as bad as everyone says it is, but i wasn't interested enough to keep playing it or even watching it, but that grand finals was awesome as fuck
Heard this guy is like some kind of rain man type
Retard that's a genius at fighting kind of shit.
I'm pretty sure that's any top level fighting game player.
I'm not a real ni-g-gg-a
Dyrus retiring was pretty heartbreaking
>"the game is not how i want it to be bwaaaaaah"
Get a job at Capcom or open your own company and make the game you think that they "should" have made.
Oh, what's that? You can't? You don't have the skills, know-how, experience, talent and time?
Then you can straight shut the fuck up faggot.
AHEUHEUHEUHEU :'(
That is cause is it Shit Fighter V. In a more technical game, I doubt Punk would have a chance.
>watch SF4
>one touch into FADC into ultra
>repeat 100 times
Such variety
Yeah, definitely. I was rooting for punk but tokido absolutely deserved to win. I love them both and I wished punk would have won but punk will be able to put this loss to good use and control his nerves next time.
Sonic Fox has been making top 8 since he was underage.
Combofiend, who let you in here?
>never won an SF evo win until now
Uh what? Tokido has two SF evo wins along with tons of other accomplishments. The only player that has more evo accolades than Tokido is Justin Wong
...
Last year's EVO was the worst I've ever watched, coming just behind EVO 2009
You mean a guy known got getting under his opponent's nerves gets under his opponent's nerves?
...
Last years SFV was a snorefest. This year's top 8 was the only time in the game's history it was enjoyable to watch.
>Infiltration started looking more vulnerable.
No. Capcom nerfed Nash and Infiltration found a S U C C and got married.
>yfw this top 8 had 9 characters
Capcom did it, the mad men. I hope they go back on the buffs to Balrog and Laura now, since it's obvious they did it thinking about comebacks generating hype on casuals.
>had a pocket karin to practice against
How the fuck is that even an excuse? No one prepares for any one character, they prepare for them ALL because they want to be ready for anything.
Punk might have not had a "pocket" Akuma, but he had a "pocket" everything else. It's still his fault for not preparing for that match.
But even then, this wasn't even a fight of who's prepared more, but it was straight up psychological domination. Punk showed that he has the skills necessary to beat Tokido's Akuma earlier. But turns out that he lacks the sheer mental fortitude that Tokido's steel fortress has and suffered utter destruction.
And no amount of "pocket" characters can prepare you for that.
>insecure Capcom dev detected
Fix the game ya weenie, SFV struggled it's first year for a reason.
Besides I'm not even criticizing it that harshly. It's not "bad" but mechanically it's getting a bit stale. It needs something to shake it up, just like how SSFIV gave everyone a 2nd ultra and how USFIV introduced the red focus.
New characters alone ain't cutting it.
"Well fuck" in one simple image
>Two pretty great SF5 grand finals in a row
>Versus Elena healing spam and timeouts
Nah.
SFV still has major problems that need to be fixed?
Pardon my lack of knowledge regarding his SF2 Turbo win in 2007.
It's been 10 years and he's never won GF in a modern SF game before.
Dude is also a champ-level player at multiple games so he definitely id way more experienced than Punk and deserved the win.
>watch SFV
>touch someone into Sup Forums-triggered
>rinse and repeat
Wow such variety
>Jive fags
I think you're thinking of Diego
>People suddenly like Punk
Did everyone forget that this is the same teabagging faggot that finally got put in his place and force fed his own medicine + extra?
Oh right it is Sup Forumstards tuning in only for the annual Evo and nothing else who all bought into the great America choke job storyline.
Fucking morons.
I wasn't saying it was an "excuse" of any sort, I was just merely stating that tokido had done lots of practice with his friend Mago, who plays karin, just to prepare for Punk, since he's been dominating the CPT
It just adds to the story
At least according to the wikipedia page, Tokido's out-titled by Justin Wong, Daigo, Infiltration, Nuki, Valle, Choi, Sonic Fox and Perfectl Legend.
That wasn't sad, just embarrassing. Armada at EVO last year was really hard to watch.
Are the goobers still angsty arcsys left them behind?
The three characters that get the most of vtrigger comebacks are Laura, Balrog and Ibuki currently, none of them made it into the Top 8.
Compared to SF4 where most of the cast can FADC their fuckups and then FADC into Ultra for huge damage.
I guess you missed the second part of that sentence. Mago LITERALLY scouted everything he could about Punk and relayed that information back to Tokido.
>Top japanese players practice amongst themselves
HOLD THE FUCKING PRESS.
If Punk played another character, Tokido would simply thank another practice partner who played said character. Fucking moron. Plus Karin needs a nerf soon.
>kid comes in
>outplays the gods left and right
>gets cocky because he's winning
>loses because nerves
Also let's not forget that Tokido also used to be a cocky bastard with smug autistic antics. Time changes a lot of things.
I'm sorry, Chillin, but I just can't see this without laughing my ass off.
>that shit he tried to talk right then and there
>it wasn't even good bantz
savage
>still has major problems
Oh sorry I didn't realize that we were in the presence of the grand fighting games authority of the universe.
Every fucking game including fighting games has people that think that they have "major problems" like it's the universal objective truth of times.
SF2 legends absolutely HATED SF3. Still SF3 is one of the most loved and played entries of the franchise.
And I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that you're nowhere near being a SF legend to even command that much authority as to even suggest of supposed "major problems". Even if you were, who the fuck cares?
especially if the new characters are ones that nobody wanted and have lower than jack-7 tier body proportions
>Mago LITERALLY scouted everything he could about Punk and relayed that information back to Tokido.
Lmao. And? Some other player probably scouted Nuckledu as well. Every top player gets scouted by the opponent.
