It just....ends on the flattest note I've ever seen. No big realization, or deeper insight into the illuminati, no new major clue.
Hell he still hasn't even met Janus. The whole story was pretty fucking irrelevant, it didn't progress anything whatsoever.

I have a feeling that if EM gets another chance at it they will just try to wrap it up. They were looking to start a whole cross-media franchise with MD including an over-arching prequel plot. Now that that's crashed and burned, they can go back to a more conclusive self-contained plot. Janus is exposed as the bald dude, Adam dies, Lucius DeBeers gets put in a freezer, post-credits cutscene of Page and Simons preparing to overthrow the Illuminati.
