Castlevania thread
Rondo of Blood and SotN are very good, a perfect duology.
Daily reminder to make sure to unbrigthen your Castlevanias.
>best one in the OP
good way to start
...
Doesn't it seem kind of weird that, for all the variations they grant, there isn't a single card combination in Circle of the Moon that gives you a chain whip?
And make sure not to display it too dark like here.
How do you guys think this stacks up next to SotN and AoS?
pretty fucking well.
It's the one where the budget constraints are most obvious. It's probably the worst of the three, but a case could be made that it's still more fun than Dawn of Sorrow.
And I'll show how to.
If you're using mGBA
open Audio/Video Tab -> Shader options
And set the following:
Gamma: 1.333
Desaturation: 0.125, 0.150, 0.150
this isn't my screenshot by the way it's just a demonstration.
CHARLOTTE
>posting worst castlevania
*Ludovania
Its my favorite of the DS games.
I don't think I've ever noticed that ol' creaks still has his heart intact.
If you insist.
ITT: Characters that remind you of yourself
For me it’s Creaking Skull – intelligent, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor.
Man, the original non-backlit GBA's really fucked with a lot of games' color design. Its not a big issue in Aria when they found the right balance, but HoD really went too far, and nowadays we all play them in properly lit screens. That said I found myself a cheap GBA SP to play on hardware but its got the shitty side lights so it washes out the colors, I'm glad handhelds are past this shit
JONATHON
Would you a Charlotte?
>Threads reaching bump limit with a bunch of game discussion
I can't hate this Creaking Skull shitposter.
is judgement worth playing?
youtube.com
Did they fuck?
He's a savior, not a shitposter.
>captcha: loreto
so close
Rondo has the best version of Beginning, Vampire Killer, and Bloody Tears in my opinion. Dawn of Sorrow had decent versions but the instrumentation felt a bit off.
Can you play SoTN on Android?
>this shitposter
We are many, or at the very least two, me making a couple now and then and some really dedicated user that not only filters and edits but even makes webms, so there may be a couple more in there
I think filterposter is the OG (barring the original worst castlemania guy) but then someone got creative and made actual edits, inspiring a few after, the rest being history
Without hesitation
It's implied in the bad ending and after the Astarte fight that Charlotte does crush on Jonathan pretty hard so probably
Why would you want to?
Not really but it's sorta fun if you have friends to play with tho. Give it a try at least.
I am too lazy to use my PSP just to play it again.
What do you guys think of pic related? I like it as much as the original honestly, with altered stages and a slightly more difficulty curve, and the fact it even comes with the original is a great bonus
Harmony of Despair on PC when?
> some really dedicated user that not only filters and edits but even makes webms
Not the user in question but this is genuinely one of the highest quality posts I've seen in a Castlevania thread.
It also got me to replay AoS which is an absolutely fantastic game, why the hell isn't it talked about more? I genuinely feel it's one of the best games ever made but I almost never see it mentioned.
I think Bloodlines has the best ones. I love how they sound there.
Not soon enough.
Everyone's too busy rubbing their boners all over Rondo and Symophony
Your average Sup Forums poster doesn't even know what's a Castlevania
If it were 60fps it would be perfect
30fps sometimes hurts the gameplay
I really like it, the idea of there being a serving family to the Belmonts is just fairly great, wish the idea had been entertained earlier in the series development, though.
Though, the idea that he could use the Vampire Killer without side effects was only introduced after the game came out, within it, they really lay the idea on, making the ending very bitter sweet.
That is me, and by the way have this updated version of the webm. Creaking Skull's transparency is cleaner and the health stays the same.
>I genuinely feel it's one of the best games ever made but I almost never see it mentioned.
it gets mentioned in every single castlevania thread.
Not really no
I mean its worth a pirate if you're curious, play around with the characters and movesets, but its a very generic and mediocre fighter with weird designs and character representations all around, not really the grand fanservice series fighter you'd expect
Years ago me and my brother found it cheap on gamestop and played for a while, but don't let anyone know I unironically like edgy time man
Only glaring flaw is the fire and smoke from his laser attack.
This is kino
That's a man? Looks like Bayonetta with grey hair
It's ok, but you usually want this game for the extra content than the remake itself. Totally worth buying if you want a physical copy.
I think I prefer it to the original. The presentation doesn't really work as well as the original at all, but I can look past that for its perks (badass 3rd Dracula phase, Annette fight, worthwhile stage 5', music customization).
Although I still can't believe Poison Mind (CV1 boss theme) was only used for the castle keep in the remake. What the fuck? The whole point of that song being in Rondo to begin with was to accompany the CV1 boss gauntlet prior to Shaft. In the original game it was just used in the keep since they didn't have an original track. It's almost like the devs didn't recognize the connection.
After replaying both, I can safely say I prefer AoS to SotN.
I liked the difficulty and better and I thought the Souls were a good addition. Both are great games though.
Obviously but that's the only place it's ever mentioned. SotN will get name dropped in other threads frequently but never AoS and even outside Sup Forums it's always SotN I see mentioned when it comes to the Metroidvania ones.
>Only glaring flaw is the fire and smoke from his laser attack.
If you use your imagination, it's a shockwave from Creaking Skull smashing his bone into the ground.
quirky time quip man.
best thing about the game desu
youtube.com
IT's at least easier to emulate than the original RoB
Because SotN is the pioneer of the term Metroidvania and it's actually good, it's only natural it will always be brought up.
What are you talking about? OoE had the smallest budget, there were no budget constraints for PoR, in fact I'll dare to say it had the highest budget of the 3 DS titles since it's the largest one by far
Stop user, if you make it too powerful we will have no way to contain it
and best details.
>You like that?
>tfw not only is HoD the worst castlevania but Juste is also the worst belmont
>he never even fought the REAL dracula
>that's a man?
to be fair it wouldn't be the first time someone asked that
Charlotte does things to my dick
obviously the bone hit so hard everything caught aflame
Wait, what?
I thought he did in the true ending
Best Lewdvania?
>We are many, or at the very least two
If you're the only other guy making these, then we are indeed two. I should add that I spent 17 hours yesterday making Creaking Skull photoshops in addition to the webm while yesterday's thread was going on.
Somebody please fucking explain this meme
Yeah that too, the game has a fuckload of small details
...
*lewdovania

youtube.com
What's Miss Yamane up to these days anyways?
What's your source on any of this? OoE has some copy/pasted areas but is a lot more visually sophisticated and distinct from the other two. Portrait had an insane amount of enemy asset reuse, pretty much just recycled DoS' combat mechanics wholesale, and had some atypical technical issues (slowdown, crashing).
>OoE had the smallest budget
So I'm not the only one that noticed? That'd probably explain the pre-castle mess, but something about the UI and a few of the graphics seemed unpolished or out of place to me, Albus' sprite looks like it belongs in the GBA games
>He thinks Dracula's wraith was the real dracula
Dawn is better in practically every way except story and artwork compared to aria
Mad Forest>Vampire Killer>Wicked Child>Beginning=Bloody Tears=Stream>Aquarius>the rest
He didn't.
Well shit then you really are dedicated, you've got more time than I do, I can count like 6 of them I've done myself
thanks for this
...
fug forgot Heart of Fire. Would put it on same level as Wicked Child
...
hello snipos
Father, I have a confession to make.
I actually really liked Lament of Innocence.
>konami's pachinko department shut this down
youtube.com
>Castlevania 1999 will never get made
F
IGA did go out of his way to stress the whole platonic nature of the relationship... but human nature says that's impossible.
>I spent 17 hours yesterday making Creaking Skull photoshops in addition to the webm while yesterday's thread was going on
why
IGA is a liar
BALORE NOOOOOOOOOO
...
better than spending 17 hours reading Sup Forums like i did
It was Dracula's wraith, which was basically a spirit born from Dracula's evil or some shit like that, not a real Dracula.
My source is observation, these guys don't actually release budget reports for any of us to actually confirm it, but just take a look at a few things from OoE like
>No fully animated cutscenes, unlike the other 2 games
>Only around 2 drawings per character, despite the issue mentioned above with no animated cutscenes
>those bunch of levels which were literally just a straight line with no elevation
>How short the game is when compared to the other 2
>There's not as many weapons or mechanics as in the other 2
>Lack of small meaningless but fun details
And about OoE looking better...yeah well, it was the last one released, and it was made like 3 years after the previous one, so you better believe they actually managed to squeeze the DS resources. But even then it doesn't look THAT better from PoR.
It also reused a lot of assets btw, some of them even from SOTN.
>PoR reused a lot from DoS
Mostly on monsters, yeah, but it still had a lot of original creatures, also I really don't see why reusing assets such as monster is necessarily bad on cartridge games, the space is very limited.
PoR also had completely different mechanics from DoS and it added stuff like dual attacks, the whole partner switching, fully fledged spells and normal subweapons at the same time. Also more weapon types and different animations
...
People in the thread kept throwing ideas at me, so I kept making shops. It was fun, but I've mostly gotten it out of my system by now.
I LOVE YOU
>Castlevania 1999 will never get made
Good. Julius is a meh Belmont anyway
>My source is observation
bruh
What the fuck is up with the creaking skull meme? Did something happen? Because if it's just plastering creaking skull everything: It's not fucking funny and you've already managed to burn it out in just a few days so I hope it dies fast
Did you make this one? This is by far my favorite one, literally Castlekino.
My favorite castlevania is, very specifically, portrait of ruin hard mode max level 1 as Richter and maria
WEW, good one
