the reason for that is simple new vegas is not a good game. it's a bunch of bland aimless quests loosely strung together with scotch tape. the same kind of tape that apparently holds everyone's head/limbs on.

I've never played such a bland, lifeless dull game in my life. there isn't a single remarkable thing about it. it literally does nothing well, and some things it does very badly.

FNV is literally the ugliest fucking game I've ever been memed into playing.

Yeah the gameplay is clunky as hell and takes some time getting used to. Also mods are required to make the gfx look decent, but that should go without saying for most older games.

dunno man, it seemed like interesting plot points were few and far between with a ton of arbitrary roadblocks between each one. i really wanted to like it because it brings up a lot of ideas i found interesting but i just couldn't get into it

I read the books after playing 1, 2 and half of 3 and yeah I agree that it'd probably give you a better context for the future games to read The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny and watch a summary of 1 on youtube.

That said I still think 1 was worked well as a self-contained story, but sure was clonky as hell.

You're right other than that the game is a perfect 10/10.

I can totally agree with the well deserved criticisms of 4, but when it come to 3 and NV I personally had just as much fun playing one as I did the other. They're two of my favorite games like fuckin ever.

As someone who strongly prefers NV, I think this is a perfectly fine opinion. If you want to just explore and shoot people in the face both games are exactly what you're looking for.

The writing absolutely does. I'm not going to get worked up about lore because Fallout 3 does technically explain why things are different (even though I think they should've put way more effort into it), but even then Fallout 3 is full of basic storytelling mistakes.

Fallout 4 is better than 3, though. It's a semi-competent Borderlands clone instead of... whatever 3 was.

NV writers also had the wisdom not to make children into important questgivers, most NV kids are just fluff and scenery.

I remember this games being great like 6 years ago. Played it 3 weeks ago and jesus mother fuck has it aged like milk. Hurts to look at and the combat feels like total dogshit. I'm really avoiding replaying oblivion to avoid tarnishing my memories of that one too
