The server relocation.

This is the only game I have ever played that actually literally put me to sleep. It's so fucking boring holy shet.

I give XIV a modicum of credit because it's the only MMO I can think of that created systems to keep people playing old content

>check reviews
>everyone saying the game is good, even negative reviews
>it's basically russians and third-worlds shitting on SE because of server relocation and some surprise price increase on subscriptions
Not sure how to feel about this, but I agree that server reallocation was pretty stupid.

Weekly loot.

>What went wrong?
Russians and other shitters were given a voice.

International release and no IP block were a mistake.

The price got increased in 3rd world countries like russia and brazil

>What went wrong
WoW

And this is why I avoid PC multiplayer games.

>it's an SE game
>it's an MMO instead of a single-player game
>it's a creatively bankrupt rehash of FF11 with the same characters and setting
>the first implementation of the game was in fact so shitty that SE went out of its way to issue a public apology before dedicating a massive budget to a reboot of the game

Why does anyone give their money to this company?

at least we got an awesome video out of the public apology.

I've been playing FF for 30 years now.

13 and its spawn, 14 and 15 are the worst. They're not FF anymore. They're trying to rake in money.

XIV ARR is literally the best FF game in almost a decade.

Increased from cheap to regular or from regular to ridiculous?

Only someone who never played FFXI would say this.
Why do casuals love the WoW formula so much?

it doubled the price, plus increased ping

>2002 was less than 10 years ago
dam

Based on the reviews, Brazil got a ~100% increase and Russia got a ~300% increase. Not sure about other countries, but I heard there are random price increases on Steam for various countries (Japan, Korea, India, etc) since the beginning of this year (Paradox made an official statement about it but reverted the price changes).

>How can you not grasp such a simple game? Are you failing on purpose?

It got increased to the same amount that all the other countries pay, russia used to be 4 dollars and now is 13.

If you could raise the price to unpayable in russia and brazil you'd improve the playerbase by 500%.

I was saying that calling XIV good means you never played XI.

XI was a good MMO, and showed what MMOs could be.
WoW came along and showed that you can make money if you make a game for retards. XIV followed that plan instead.

If I had to choose one country to give them a 500% price increase, it would be France. Fuck frogs.

>I was saying that calling XIV good means you never played XI.
Try reading my post again.

>Americans

youtube.com/watch?v=yjayqi7wcf4

as someone who put thousands of hours into XI back in the day, it's not a good game. it's an interesting, satisfying experience, but it's filled to the brim with needless tedium and wonky mechanics. XIV is objectively superior, but I can understand why XI oldfags aren't a fan.

Je suis monté
Why are people so obsessed with NA? They love it or hate it but its all they talk about. Do you dream about NA?

>muh safe spaces
>I can't handle bantz

you're no Sup Forums

>objectively superior
It's not though. It's better at making money, it's worse at being a game. XI actually required teamwork and communication. You can go a month in XIV and not speak to anyone. It's an MMO for people like you, stupid "gamers".

If you think it's actually better you're wrong. I put more time into XI than you, and less into XIV and that's probably the difference.

>"Yoshi our game is shit what do we do?"
>"Just kick the third worlders out pham"
>"But how is it going to fix the game?"
>"It won't but fuck the nigs"

t. russian

is this our thread

teamwork and communication don't automatically make a good game, buddy.

>be frog
>french servers are basically hell's antechamber
>set my client language to english and play incognito on international servers
>mfw every time someone asks "Where are you guys from?"
No one must know my secret

URRRRRGH YES IT DOES I PLAY MMOS TO ERP WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND GRIND FOR TEN THOUSAND HOURS TO FORGET THE PAIN OF BEING UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE OUTSIDE OF TEXT

Weekly caps and dailies. It goes against the design philosophy that you should stop playing when you are busy. I can play a whole day but dont make me play 1-2h a day to cap some tomes. Also I just hate raiding as a concept when its. 4-8 weeks a piece if you are unlucky. I fucking hate playing with HC people

they make a community. It may come as a surprise to you but that used to be relevant to MMOs.

Dungeon finder/group finder whatever they call it in whatever game killed MMOs.

If you don't have to talk to a person to play with them then playing an MMO is stupid.

It was the BRs who did the DDoS, right?

Is a WoW Clone for Weeabos

>people believe this
>people think FFXIVs erp/get carried by randos is preferable to FFXIs system of YOU MUST PLAY TOGETHER

what about FFXI?

I think it all went wrong when the sequel to a game called Final Fantasy was made. Seeing as its niether final and not really fantasy

...

like i said, i spent thousands of hours in XI. i also played WoW up to wrath. while i'll concede that yes, matchmaking took some charm out of instances, communication is far from gone.

besides, if you're not playing MMOs with real, genuine friends and instead play with randos you /yelled to find, your "community" is nothing but a farce.

not even close. FFXI is like ever quest for weebs

>I also play WoW up to wrath
I could never do as much damage to your credibility as you've just done.

This. Weekly loot. 8 weeks to get a weapon. Top kek

I dunno man, everquest for weebs is 100% better than WoW for weebs.

FFXI was amazing. Was. Raising the level cap from 75 to 90 ruined it.

it's way better. but some XIV fags are going to disagree anyway.

The mogstore prices went up in russia/brazil on Steam to stop americans for paying less money for their sub/mogstation items so people in third world countries are bombarding the page with negative reviews

This.

I only ever got SAM to 90 because abyssea and books basically turned it into every other MMO.

Shitters being carried by players.

Does anyone else feel overwhelmed when playing XIV? There's just so much god damn shit to do as a new player. But when I played XI, I don't feel pressured at all and take things at a normal pace.

Basically this.

I haven't played since the server switch. I'm in the UK but play on Gilgamesh, is it still playable?

>plays on gilgamesh
lol, just transfer

XI is just a better world. It allowed you to play your character and learn organically what works and what doesn't. People would tell you, but you could also find out for yourself.

XIV basically is a tutorial, the entire game is a tutorial.

>Australian
>literally had to shanghai a japanese server to get a pacific server
>cant create new characters due to high pop cap
>still no Oz/NZ servers despite complaints

I got out around the time the first expansion hit and though at times I have been tempted to go back everything I hear about it makes me stop.

In short Jap devs have head up asses, more at 11

you get your weapon immediately now for beating neo exdeath

ITT: butthurt non americans

So I have to look for a static and grind savage bossess only to get gear? This do not help casuals who plays a couple of hours every day.

Same. I came back and leveled BLM to 90. It was just sitting in a loose alliance while 4-5 people killed mobs endlessly and the rest were afk.

A shame because 75 cap was dynamic and balanced with a lot to do. I miss Einherjar and doing sea for Ultima/omega pop items hell, I even miss bird farming, great environment to just chat while you ground.

Anyways, that's in the past and while XIV can't replace XI we'll never get another XI so it's the best there is.

How do you respond?

Which MMO is worth investing time into these days, XI or XIV?

Is the Astrologian class any good? They look interesting.
>need to buy expansion to try them out

Just do normal, you will get your gear, just over a longer time. What do you need the gear for if you aren't savage raiding anyways?

>Anyways, that's in the past and while XIV can't replace XI we'll never get another XI so it's the best there is.
I've known this for years and I still hate to hear other people say it.

I'm playing on a private server to do all the story I never got to do on retail.

>Why does anyone give their money to this company?

exactly for the reason you stated. they made a mistake and fully accepted it and overhauled the whole project.

also I do understand the people who say this is nothing but a good looking wow clone but personally from a traditional FF perspective I love the fact that they tried to make this single player friendly.

Withdraw and turn off join in progress. I have no idea why you would leave that on for trials, only useful for getting a mostly finished leveling roulette.

It's gonna be final steps of faith or chrysalis.

How do YOU respond?

>I'm playing on a private server to do all the story I never got to do on retail.
Why not just play retail for the story? you can solo most of it

XIV because there's more players and it has a longer future. XI servers could be shut down at any moment now thus rendering your progress null.

Hmm... Nothing?

>joined in progress Turn 5
>beat the shit out of it first try after explaining everyone every mechanic
>6 commendations
I was the promised tank

You have to make that call, I can't tell you which you'll like better.

If you're into the game aspect XI will always treat you better. Combat is deeper, story is deeper, world is bigger.

If you want the MMO aspect FFXIV will treat you better, more people everywhere, more chat, more erp etc etc.

FFXI is a far better game, but that doesn't mean it's always more fun.

XI servers haven't merged, let alone closed in years.

Just let the time run out. Maybe someone will leave and thus stop your queue before the timer is up.

but they obviously have been dwindling in players. they just shut down the ps2/360 version last year I think. it's only a matter of time before SE makes the call that XI isn't worth supporting anymore. They already shift some of the XI crew to XIV.

I like atmosphere, lore, and exploration. Also love Morrowind. Would XI be better? Retail or private?

>join trial roulette in progress
>dies in first try
i dunno man

casual shit mmo that caters to the lowest denominator.

>tfw no single player standalone FFXI
What will realistically happen once FFXI shuts down? Has there ever been an old MMO that has been made into a game but without the multiplayer aspects?

XI is the most profitable FF game ever made.
I get that you're salty because your WoW clone won't ever get that title, but don't try to scare kids away.

youtube.com/watch?v=QQOGYoVieVk

I know this like 50 years or something ago. But what caused the Empire and the Alliances to fight all out? Where did they fight?

>XI is the most profitable FF game ever made.
most money made ever total? yes.
but how much money do you think it's making in 2017 compared to FFXIV

Is there a Sup Forums linkshell?

Private. Go for a server like LegionDark or something. Free, easy set up, most stuff works.

People will say Nasomi but don't believe them. Nasomi is 100% drama and they won't help you with shit.

Neat.

isnt there only like 50 players online in legion dark? seems completely dead for a MMO that's supposed to have at least 1000 players to make the world feel alive.

Dunno. I don't play retail anymore.

There are multiple servers, but I imagine there's a linkshell for Sup Forums on a few of them.

The fact that you know they're called linkshells leads me to believe I've wasted my time answering this question.

youtube.com/watch?v=7WAcS-1H3BM

It is a duty-in-progress, timer won't stop even if a player decides to leave the instance (roulette will just try to find another player to fill that slot after you join), and you will get your "strike one" if you let your time runs out, so is a better choice. Hell, sometimes the timer won't stop even if there is zero players in the instance, so you end up alone in that duty (but you won't get penalized for leaving, at least).

...

>Pay the same price but you will get your gear later.
Kys, trash game

I don't understand your point. You could beat these savage fights in less than 2 hours if you have a competent group. Are you trying to say that you suck and you can't find likeminded individuals because you have poor social skills?

Except it will. If someone leaves before you accept, the DF will close then either try to put you into the same (enough time to stop the queue before DF pops again) or into another if the previous instance is now empty. Happens a lot.

You only end upin a duty with nobody in if they leave after you have accepted. But it's best to join, then leave immediately. 0 penalty except having to wait again in a new queue.

>You could beat these savage fights in less than 2 hours if you have a competent group.
It took the best groups in existence over 20 hours of nonstop poopsocking to beat them, keep trying kid.

Woulndt Fedora tippers chose Sam over Rdm?
