It gets a brief flash of viewership when MoonMoon or Timthetatman stream.
Other than that, most people have played it enough to know what to expect of it. It's not like when it was in a closed beta. It doesn't help that most matches play the same.

Considering it's become Dive Comp: The Game this isn't very surprising.

I think it has a largish playerbase judging by how many views the youtube videos get (I know it's not a 1:1 correlation but it indicates some level of interest).

But maybe the playerbase is so casual that they don't know about twitch. That would also explain why the pro/tournament scene is far less popular.

Blizzard is 1 part rabidfan minority in the West and 3 parts obsessive nostalgic fanboys in the East.

Even the East is realizing their new shit sucks. Peoppe will be documenting the downfall of Blizz in approximately 3 years.

It was doomed from the start.
Blizzard only listen to casual feedback and completely ignore pro feedback (while trying to force an esports presence), aswell as character hindering bugs like Genji's Blade swings showing hit effects but not doing damage, wall climbing often stopping for no reason and all of Rein's kit.
Another massive issue the game has is how characters counter each other way too much with very little middle ground or counterplay besides swapping to a different hero.

Because of the counter issue, aswell as almost non-existent balance and bug fix patches and overall hero and map design, the game will always be mediocre
