It starts off as weebish garbage, but it's fun garbage. It also gets better over time. You can tell that the team is learning from their mistakes and actually making huge improvements. The jump in quality from volume to volume continues to shock me.

Linne is a very serious contender, I will fully admit that.

The writing is cartoonish because it is. The first two seasons was made with the budget of 2 tuna cans so it was really really bad. On the other hand, this is the latest trailer.

The animation quality increased significantly in later seasons. Also people latched onto it because cute waifus and even though it's basically a mediocre generic anime story-wise that's still better than 90 percent of western cartoons so people ate that shit up.

Then it hit it big in Japan because it's just like their animes and Otakus do love their anime waifus and this series is basically an anime waifu buffet of all colours, flavours, shapes and sizes.

Voice acting gets moderately better too.
Story gets marginally better. Takes a more serious turn so it loses a lot of the whacky antics and high school cliche type stuff from the first season.

So do you think that this will still be a 4 button game, or will ArcSys be forced to go 6 buttons? I've never seen a tag-battle type game that didn't have 6 buttons, unless there's one I'm forgetting or haven't played somewhere. And even then, it's a question of if that control scheme was good or not.

MvC3 didn't use a 6 button layout, not unless you're gonna be a dick and say tag buttons count. Besides, nobody likes MvC or Street Fighter anymore.

I don't think it will be six button unless they're gonna try adding for more depth in mix-ups and tag assist combos.
Truth be told I don't think that the game is gonna have all that much complexity when it comes to the tag feature.

Mostly I look forwards to seeing if we get all bounce and how we can use that in combo abilities.

Season 3 actually amped it up a bit in the writing department and the pacing was good, but it had it some of the shittiest fights and animation in the series despite ironically being the fighting tournament arc. Granted it was after Monty died and they hadn't really gotten their footing back yet, but the only good fight in Season 3 was Yang vs. Merc, and even that was clunky as fuck.

The fights in Season 4 were abysmal, with Qrow vs. Tyrian being the only half decent one. Not only that, but despite having technically better animation the character models looked like they were made out of play-doh and were off model as fuck in some scenes.

Season 2 probably had the best balance between normal animation and decent fights.
