Subnautica

Remember when the Grand Reef was a safe and cozy place?

>two of them there
>one in the Northern Blood Kelp Forest
>two in the Lost River, possibly three soon

And guess what? They're spawning in the Void now

space travel when -_-

In the live version or just in experimental?

Experimental right now.

Guns
Artificial difficulty because no guns
Mass school shooting every day
No guns

>shallow reef too shallow to drive Cyclops
>kelp & plains too easy to bother make Cyclops for
>remaining 75% now full of monsters that attack Cyclops, too dangerous

t-thanks...

Shut up faggot, they are literally saving Western civilization by refusing to put lethal weaponry in a video game.

I don't know how the fuck people have hundreds of hours in this game when it's still EA.

I bought the game 2 and a half years ago and have played 31 hours.

How do you not get sick of seeing the same map every playthrough and how are you going to avoid getting bored of the game when it launches and you realise you've already played the majority of its content?

(You)

Maybe because they're having fun

La memes XDDDD am I Hawaii now fagoo???

I saw comments like these frequently, which made me apprehensive to drive the cyclops around. Then I actually did it and discovered that with all of the mechanics they give you, it's easy as fuck to navigate around these things without taking damage.

It can be tedious, at worst. But too dangerous? Come on, now.

>Build the Cyclops
>Holy shit this thing is huge
>So wait I can put my own stuff inside too
>Holy fuck this is neat
>Take it for a spin
>doink
>CREATURE ATTACK
>CREATURE ATTACK
>boink
>CREATURE ATTACK
>crash
Seamoth's just fine, thanks

The game is nearly complete, what exactly are you waiting for? They're adding in the cure with the release update and that's all aside from later performance updates

no no you put the seamoth IN the cyclops, tard.

>A hulking mass of metal can't go deeper than 900m without upgrade
>A flismy bag of flesh can

This is what bother me the most, I don't see the point of the depth limit save for being a mandatory grind time sink.

The hell did you do, go full speed through a monster nest without even bothering to slow down or repair the sub?

Creatures that normally don't give a damn about me home in on the sub like the game is doing it on purpose, I didn't even realize I had sharks besides my base until I got in the cyclops

I know that but it's easier to just go in the seamoth

Different planet, different physics.

Because they can hear the sub from a mile away.

WHENS GUNS

What bothers me even more is that running into a few lungfish or peepers breaks the cyclops. Unless they fixed it. I uninstalled because that's just stupid.

Not that guy but I have 87 hours and finally decided that it was time to wait for release so I don't get bored of the game before it becomes beatable. I'm also waiting for them to get rid of that voxel shit and fix performance.

Take a special kind of physics to only affect a metal construct and leave the flesh one the fuck alone

It doesn't do any damage at all now, but it still sounds like you're under nuclear bombardment.

Aceptable break from reality. You need to be able to go outside and repair your vehicles, scan things, collect things, build your bases, etc. You still have limited air and without a rebreather your oxygen drains up to three times faster the deeper you are. And without a reinforced dive suit you'll take heat damage outside a vehicle in the lava zones.

Is this game good? Been wondering about getting it, and i'll now base whether I do it on this thread. If not, i'll get that telltale humble bundle.

Water pressure is constant in the universe...

It threw me off when i got out of my seamoth at 300m and expected to die only to find out i could go way deeper than my seamoth.

I think it's great, but you can wait till full release in a couple months if you're on the fence.

Stop shilling your game here

Physics are constant no matter what part of the universe you're on, doofus.

Do they have a unique kill animation?

That first time I heard the BANG after a peeper bumped into me was terrifying. I thought a reaper had followed behind me.

After that it became amusing to run those fuckers over (figuratively).

Now that my new base is a death trap, what do I need to add?

The splat sound when you hit something with the seamoth never gets old

I just built the cyclops, now I don't know what to do.
I haven't played it since.

Are you literally me? I figured I'd stop now just like

Build a Prawn Suit, and carry it around in your Cyclops to travel between monster, and punch them to death

Soon as you stop shilling games.

There will be a price increase before full release.
If you buy now and wait, next update you get a Cutefish that will follow you around and high-five you

I've built all big things.
It just felt like I accomplished too much too fast. I built the prawn and the cyclops at the same time so no real fun playing between them.
I think I'll just wait for them to finish the story and play on. I dislike playing without an underlying purpose.

Yeah man, I'll just wait for them to finish the story and then continue.

That fish ain't cute.

>I think I'll just wait for them to finish the story and play on. I dislike playing without an underlying purpose.

I'm the same way. It's why I dislike most of these building/survival games and the only ones that can somewhat hold my attention are the forest (find your kid) and this one (get off the planet and get back to civilization). I guess Empyrion somewhat held my attention for a while but I'm still waiting for npcs that do more than shoot you and more quests.

Yeah, I held back buying this game cause in general I find no interest in survival/resource gathering games, but I really love diving and the ocean so I finally caved in and bought it.
Love the game, but gonna wait otherwise I might start to dislike the game because of no purpose boredom.

You do know there's a story in the game, right? Why haven't you done that?

Is it just underwater minecraft? I don't really like games like that and Astroneer where you just collect resources for no real reason

I have. I'm waiting for them to finish the story.

There's a story and an ending.

Decided to double down, moved the base another 100m lower. Ladder goes up to the floating lagoon 315m straight up, where I keep my cozy base.

Thinking this one is going to be all business, so maybe 2 containment tanks, 3 tall each to start with

That's awesome. Maybe I should build my base down into the lava cave beneath me....

How do I achieve maximum cozy?

I've considered making a base in the ALZ but I'm not sure how I feel about being constantly serenaded by the sweet musings of the Sea Dragon.

I also thought about how big of a bitch it would be to get anywhere, but I could just use the warp gates and park my shit right outside one of them.

Above water room with all windows and a bed in the middle

Well, you put a picture in the picture frame, for one. I also believe that you can make use of any picture you want, so long as you toss it in the screenshot folder.

How about now?

kiss goodbye to your framerate if you do that.

>seamoth can't go below 200m without being crushed
>tiny ball with camera has no problems
>mfw

>Update adds guns
>Go swimming in the safe shallows
>Get shot up by a school of peepers

THANKS, AMERICA

Well, a tiny ball with a camera is a lot easier to reinforce than a submersible that is 50% glass.

That kinda makes sense. You can make the camera very compact, meaning pressure won't do so much to it.

Recently got back into this game, started over and played all the way until I had a pretty sweet Cyclops set up. I accidentally drove it into a textured cube at around 1000 m and can't get it out. Am I fucked and have to start over or is there a console command or something I can use to get it out?

Goddamn how did I not see that this is the perfect game for a joke about SCHOOL shooting until now?

...

Probably use console commands to warp yourself out of there and spawn in a new Cyclops. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with using cheats to recover what you lost if it's the games fault.

Pretty sure you're fucked. Why not just reload a save, though? Unless you saved after doing it, which I'd have to question your rationale.

In any case, that would be a situation where I feel like using the console to at least spawn yourself another cyclops and using nocost to get back your shit is acceptable.

Time to never play again haha
