>competitive gaming is most profitable now >nobody gives a shit about single player games anymore >nobody gives a shit about good story and graphics >now it's all about MUUUHHH RANK >MUHHH RANK in CS:GO >MUHHH RANK in LoL >MUHHH RANK in Dota 2 >MUHHH RANK in Overwatch >MUHHH RANK in Rocket League >MUHH LOOTBOXES >MUHH SKINS
just fuck gaming already
Matthew Morris
calm down fag at least hero shooters are already on their way out
Colton Martin
>nobody gives a shit about single player games anymore Nips keep putting out single player games.
Carson Richardson
>I keep looking at the most popular games and not other options because I'm a fucking retard
James Flores
>>nobody gives a shit about single player games anymore
Just western devs - or are we gonna pretend Nier 2 and Persona 5 don't exist?
Juan Lee
>meme gaming >muhhh waifus
Dominic Kelly
well wolfenstein 2 is comin soon
Connor Torres
>People care about ranks in competitive multiplayer games, HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! You must not, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, play to win in competitive games!
Also, >nobody gives a shit about single player games anymore This is simply not true. Multiplayer games have always been more popular, always. That doesn't mean singleplayer is dead. >nobody gives a shit about good story and graphics Most people care only about graphics, what are you talking about. There's a reason why publishers spend tens of millions on marketing, to really show people how good looking the game is. >MUHH SKINS What's wrong with cosmetics?
Liam James
This is true for PC Consoles still get a ton of great SP focused games and SP DLC
What you're talking about is exactly why I got a PS4 I missed SP games and I got so tired of playing MP shit on PC It's really tiring
Owen Howard
t. gold scrub
Noah Johnson
This feel
Aiden Murphy
Exactly.
Blake Young
>Multiplayer games have always been more popular, always. were you born like in 2003??? that's absolutely not true you retard
Colton King
You've missed where the wealth distribution is in the world today boy its in the hands of the few elite, if they play any of those games the devs are going to make DAMM sure they can spend big big dollar to get what they want
Luke Richardson
>good story and graphics Go watch a movie then.
Jaxson Long
Woah hey guys what did I miss
Ryder Nelson
Literally kys, you gonna ignore that RPGs are the most normie they've ever been, bad for people who want more depth in their rpgs, but it shows that they're also popular
Levi Edwards
A playerbase.
Evan Garcia
>nobody gives a shit about good story and graphics Good, neither of those things matter
Tyler Phillips
?
Parker Perez
>Doom >the first internet multiplayer game >sold more than fucking Windows
>UT >Quake >Starcraft >Dota
All of them outsold ye olde Gothic
Josiah Nelson
Not true. There are still plenty of great single player games coming out all the time.
William Bailey
Ranks have been a thing for over a decade
Wyatt Taylor
Multiplayer games are superior. Playing against NPCs just reminds you of how shitty AI is. Every enemy has a limited moveset, strategies and behavior. Playing against other humans is where the real challenge is.
Ethan Turner
>all of those games requires skill to be enjoyable >Sup Forums hates it like pottery
Jace Powell
>tfw can't play modern RPGs because the menus all look like shit
Why? I really wanted to enjoy Witcher 3 but all the menus are just bland vector squares with color grading if the dev feels generous. I blame fucking Destiny for this shit. I want my sprites in menus back.
Christopher Cooper
>playing vidya automatically means you have to play "against" something tourneyfags are THE WORST
Chase Scott
>Crafting System worst meme to ever hit the gaming scene
Colton Richardson
>were you born like in 2003??? I was born in 93, started gaming in 95.
Yes, multiplayer games have always been more popular, simply because they are multiplayer. Of course there are single player games that sold 10 times more than some MP ones, but the simple concept of MP and playing with friends is more popular than playing by yourself. Don't you remember how the most important thing for consolecucks was to be able to couch coop with friends on a MP game? Do you realise the HUGE amount of people that by one game a year, play it 10 hours total, and because of that will chose a multiplayer one?
Hell this is why singleplayer games started adding broken and unfinished multiplayer elements just to boost sales, because people love MP, just look at soulsborne games.
Jonathan Wilson
this. stop being a cynical shitbitch OP
Connor Bennett
>CS:GO >LoL >Dota 2 >Overwatch >Rocket League >skill
Jonathan Scott
You always play against somethings. The game mechanics are there to provide challenge. Even in Rollercoaster Tycoon you fight against time and have to manage your finances to avoid your park shutting down. Even in fucking Sims you play against your own repressed memories and feelings
Unless you're going to argue that VNs and walking simulators are videogames, in which case gb2/jp/ faggot
Thomas Clark
If they don't take skill, then it should be pretty easy for any shlub of the streets, such as yourself, to go out and win a a major tournament and net millions of dollars. I mean, it's easy, right?
Isaiah Gomez
playing against the vast majority on those games takes 0 skill
Parker Jones
holy shit tourneyfags literally are the fucking worst
Landon Jackson
...
Jason Lee
Is it though? I sort of get what he's saying. If you're playing a game of rock paper scissors against like 99% of people it's just going to be a game of chance but for a select group of people it's their life and they actually do play at a level requiring skill. Sup Forums isn't a board dedicated to such people though so if someone were to claim that Sup Forums just doesn't like rock paper scissors because it requires skill to be enjoyable I feel like it's pretty fair for some autist to start greentexting at them because it means by that logic very few people actually would find enjoyment in it and thus it might just be a shit game.
Cameron Myers
Don't know about the others, but 80% of the LoL player base are under Gold, which is pretty much identical to silver and gold in terms of skill. So yeah, this guy is right.
Gabriel Rivera
Blame the Koreans/Chinese. They can't handle any game that involves anything more than robotic emotionless multiplayer gameplay, eg. Dota, Starcraft, LoL. They also generate gorillions of dollar for the industry through shitty gook clan tournaments.
Other than that, the problem is 13 year old European kids shelling money out on retarded Fifa gamemodes.
Ian Gutierrez
Poju's Secret Journey got an adaptation?
Anthony Miller
fuck this ranked matchmaking bullshit, i just want to wind down and fuck around in pubs
Jordan Scott
A crappy one, yeah. You would get better animation by just using one of the physical manga as a flip book.
Nicholas Mitchell
That's unfortunate. Still gonna fap to it though.
Jace Rodriguez
>Be me >Play JRPGs almost exclusively, and generally for the story above all else >Particularly fond of love stories in video games >tfw can't help but laugh at the overgrown manchild "muh nintendo" and "muh FPS" fags every time when they try to talk shit Have fun wasting your life away on garbage vidya and never enjoying any fun experiences.
Oliver Morgan
lol old man get with the times
Christopher Scott
>>nobody gives a shit about good story and graphics If only that would be the case. I fucking loathe MUH GRAFFIXfaggots Just fuck off.
>>nobody gives a shit about single player games anymore Get a console you pleb. PC gaming carries most of gaming cancer along. They have collective shit taste
Ethan Peterson
I haven't enjoyed gaming this much in years, since I started playing JRPGs
Jace Morris
that's why you should've bought my game
Wyatt Rivera
>nobody gives a shit about good story and graphics >it's all about MUH GAMEPLAY fixed
Kayden Jackson

Elijah Barnes
But user, the greatest singleplayer/co-op game of all time is about to release in two months.
Logan Williams

Im actually curious why esports drives how successful a game can be these days. I understand what makes a game a good contender in esports, but what should that really matter?
Im gonna get shit for this no matter how I put it, but I play lol. I only play it at a casual level and I can't take esports seriously. I cant stand the pro drama, I don't really care for the strategies the pros use, I don't watch streamers, I don't root for a team or region. I just play the game sometimes. Supposedly, why SHOULD these things matter to me? Another example is tf2. the TF devs have recently pushed esports agenda. They need the game to have a ranked mode (even if it sucked, they just needed one asap), They are interesting in bringing casual players into competitive hype because.....they said so. So why? Why do other people care about this stupid shit so much when it barely even has much to do with playing vidya? The enviornments the pros play and the methods they use make the game an entirely different experience from what the average gamer plays, competitive or casual, so why do so many fucking people give a shit? someone please help me understand this.
Thomas Ramirez
The cancer has spread. Nothing you can do about it.
Asher Lopez
you don't understand dude. japanese 2d waifus are inherently more mature than puzzle solving with physical interactive mechanics
Connor Moore
>I play lol. stopped reading there
Kayden Hill
>Good story and graphics Fuck off faggot As if you ever fucking cared You want a "good game"? Go play cinematic bullshit like the last of us
Dominic Mitchell
Yes it is Doom alone outsold the entirety of windows The most bought games on consoles always been multiplayer titles
Liam Gonzalez
Doom's singleplayer was by far more popular than its multiplayer.
Gabriel Price
>nobody cares about graphics
Literally what, this is what's wrecking games. Nobody gives a shit about actual gameplay anymore. All about graphics and realism
Hunter Anderson
>me in 1997 Can't wait for glorious open world games of the future
