First of all Automata selling 2 million was a testament to itself, there is no guarantee that smaller budget games like that ever sell that well, and really is an outlier, especially for Taro games which hardly ever sell. In fact people didn't think there ever would be a 2nd Nier game because the 1st one didn't do well, it only really got a 2nd one because Platinum approached SE wanting to do a game and the president of SE liked Nier.
