Ratchet and Clank trilogy is so fucking good, why doesn't anyone ever talk about them? Beats Mario 64 and Sunshine easily and should be considered some of the best platformers of all time.

>Sunshine
Yes of course
>64
Get yourself checked out friendo

>Beats Mario 64 and Sunshine easily
Why even make this comparison? Those games have little in common outside of being platformers and by the time 3 rolls around it's more of a shooter.

There's less platforming after the first game and it's easier

I hope we get a new Ratchet and Clank soon and maybe bring back Angela and Tachyon.

Fuck this reboot shit, Ratchet and Clank doesn't need a reboot.

Mario 64 is tedious collecthator with shitty camera and imprecise movement, it doesn't hold up very well

Ok how about we be fair then. You played the collection Trilogy. Then play the DS re release for 64

It's fucking third person shooter action adventure with some light platforming here and there, I love the series but the platforming is definitely not the focus

I agree that the games are too easy, even on hard difficulty, but the reason the first game is "difficult" is because no strafing makes combat a chore.

I would love more platforming though.

I thought the combat was fine. It wasn't designed around strafing

better trilogy than jak

I don't understand why anyone would compare these two, they are very different other than that both are PS2 exclusive platformers with shooting elements. I love both but for different reasons, for Jak it's like the lore and world and atmosphere and story and for Ratchet the gameplay and the fun stages

>platforming
Quest for Booty is unironically my favorite of the series because of how much platforming was a focus. I wish they were able to make a full length game with that game's mechanics.

Also, Rusty Pete a cute.

this

>Cartoony platformers with furry animals and guns
Also Insomniac and Naughty Dog were sorta rivals for a while.

Is Neffy a good guy now?

1 was okay, but 2 and 3 were god-tier.

Jak trilogy is the GOAT platformer series.

I dunno, 2 tried to do too much and 3 tried to do too little. 1 is the only one I feel got the balance right. Plus the atmosphere is a bit different in a way I can't totally place, and I dig it.

I thought 1 had a lot of frustrating moments, especially towards the end. 2 and 3 were less difficult and more fun

I don't remember many sheer difficulty spikes in 1. Gemlik Base maybe? Boldan in 2 and Holostar Studios in 3 were harder.

>Platformers
>90% of the time it's a shooter
Fuck no

Jak II and 3 tried their hardest to avoid being platformers, and everything else they tried sucked.

Mario 64 has the most precise controls of any 3D game.

Sunshine was better.

Courtney>Sasha>Talwyn>Helga>Quark in drag>Angela

nigger

So is Ratchet 1, what's your point?

>can't even draw the protopet right

R&C original is kind of trash. 2 was so much better (and the game that o.g. should have been), and 3 was VG KINO.

Mario's trilogy were great games. Most "gamers" cut their teeth on SMB, SMB 2(USA) was such a departure from the original that it STILL is platform gold, SMB3 is perhaps the MOST perfect platform game every created.
They're critically untouchable and literal classics, each of them.

Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy 1 - 2. As a "trilogy" exceeds R&C Trilogy. While there is less story (Rescue Princess ad infinitum), yet the platforming is MUCH more solid than R & C.

In summary, R & C Trilogy while excellent and perhaps the BEST -anything- on PS2, is still not the platform gold that Mario is. 3rd Person action though, R & C is heads and shoulders better than anything else.
