Pretty accurate
Pretty accurate
Most of these are spot on except for [game i actually pretend to like in real life]
EYE is such a piece of shit
.
I actually have played Persona 2 and The Witcher 1. Both are good, but overrated here.
Very accurate but I would replace Undertale with New Vegas
How is Bioshock 2 pretentious?
I can understand if you like DF, Planescape Torment, La Mulana or EYE. I played them and while they have definitive flaws, I can see what makes them enjoyable for people.
But the fucking Witcher 1 and Longest Journey? Those two are beyond irredeemable.
Fun story, I actually put Longest Journey in a laptop one summer I went on a trip to the middle of fucking nowhere without internet connection so I actually beat that game. And it sucks in pretty much every level. Puzzle design is nonsensical, visually is uninteresting, sonically is forgettable, the story goes absolutely everywhere and is the shallowest thing ever.
Withcher 1 is pretty much unplayable.
I unironically like Deadly Premonition. It's a bad game, but it's a great experience.
Neverhood is a gift to humanity and don't you dare suggest otherwise.
>daggerfall
>dwarf fortress
>vampires
>planescape torment
Nigger I'll kill you
>mixing undertale with some good games
it was a nice efford
>I don't like them so no one else could possibly like them either
Agreed, people are only pretending to like [interesting and unique game]
It's more like [interesting and unique game with gameplay so bad it renders it unplayable]
t. casual with shit taste who is unable to comprehend actual good taste
I have 3 of those games installed right now, fuck off.
>even pretending to like this garbage
t. poser
The worst aspect of Sup Forums's taste is its regardless gravitation toward complexity. It doesn't matter how genuinely broken the core mechanics like moving and attacking are (where the game is 80% about moving and attacking) if it has a mildly interesting story-- by video game standards of course, meaning nothing. You'll see a majority of people bashing the all mobile games period, because how could a video game be good if it has a simple control scheme? That or the pure retardation of assuming every mobile game is a F2P Farmville type social cash shop grindan game. People with bad taste cannot comprehend how Super Mario Bros. 3 is better than all the games in that OP image-- it's just about running and jumping and power-ups! There's GOT to be nothing there, right? Right?

Wow great thread, truly a spectacle of public discourse
*tips*
this comment is pure kino
Out of those I've only played Drakengard and I liked it. Deadly Premonition looks pretty cool though always been meaning to pick it up
>always been meaning to pick it up
it's been on sale for like $1 so many times
it's also janky as shit but it's funny and charming
>Metal Gear Solid 2 was loved by everybody, even normies
>So was Dark Souls
>And Witcher 3
This is like calling Star Wars "pretentious."
>how to spot an underage pleb
>he posted this thread
meme.jpg xD
Yeah true but I hate having a backlog and my backlog is big enough right now
Yeah, this is largely accurate. They're mostly games with interesting concepts marred by shitty gameplay. The only ones here that I've played and actually beaten are Bloodlines and Witcher 1 (before the sequels were released). In both cases, my enjoyment of the writing and setting overpowered my distaste for the flawed gameplay and combat mechanics.
Planescape is one where I really loved the setting too, but the gameplay was just too shit to struggle through (I'm not a fan of the combat in the Baldur's Gate games either and this is significantly worse). I'd love to see a modern action RPG in the Planescape setting but Torment is one of those games where it's fans must be trying really, really hard to ignore how shit the actual gameplay is.
>"B-but the game is mainly just dialogue! Y-you NEVER have to fight if you don't want to!
Yes you fucking do have to fight, you nigger. And you know your combat system is shite when the best way to get through a dungeon is by running straight past the enemies until you get to the exit. Fuck you.
But Kings Field 1 is garbage, everyone knows 2 is the best.
>>Metal Gear Solid 2 was loved by everybody
Star Wars is pretentious. It's pretending to be liked by everyone when I don't like it. Pretentious trash.
He's right though.
>bothering with Shits Field when the superior Shadow Tower series exists
I have same experience as you, but I wouldn't call Witcher's combat shitty. It's for sure different, but at least requires something more then senseless button mashing that is so prevalent in modern games.
How the fuck is Nier Automatoes pretentious? It's the bandwagon one. Also replace dark souls with demon's souls
One of the most acclaimed games of all time, actually.
Just because normies can like it doesn't mean it's not pretentious
>This is like calling Star Wars "pretentious."
OT Star Wars is pretentious as hell, those with real taste go for the prequels any day. This Disney bullshit is straight normie-core tho
>games I don't actually like, i' just pretending so you'll think more of me
>You included E.Y.E.
When did this happen?
imagine being this insecure in your own taste that you have to make this garbage
nobody enjoys anything OP, they're all pretending and trolling you, only you enjoy what you enjoy
>system shock 1
????
Most of these are spot on except for [game I played but could only finish with guide]
Claim: Metal Gear Solid 2 was loved by everybody.

Counter-Claim: Metal Gear Solid 2 did have some detractors.

I think most faggots that aren't you finally understood what kojimbo was trying to do, so at the very least they appreciate it for the risks it took and how it pushed the medium forward
>E.Y.E.'s in a group with Witcher and Planescape Torment
WE MADE IT BOYS!
Cant walk a long way without braking some legs.
I cant believe this opinion
The longest journey is one of my favourite games of all time. I've played it through at least 5 times already. It's just so enjoyable to me from start to finish. feels bad mane.
Are you sure you didn't play Dreamfall instead of the longest journey?
This list is fucking spot on
Shadow Tower is for when you want a tough stressful game, King's Field is for when you wanna chill
>Mentioning EYE makes people look at you as if on crazed oldman
>think more of me
Do you not understand what people mean when they say "everybody"?
Do you actually have autism?
But he's right.
You're absolutely right.
Why is it that only brainlets seem to make these pictures?
>ITT: Games I'm too casual to get into. Time to play Overwatch.
go play with your spinners, kiddo
MGS2, Shadow and I guess souls can get the fuck of that list.
Bioshock infinite was the only game that pretentious weebs in my hometown got into then acted like they've always loved the franchise... cosplay that stupid blue dress bitch
You're correct.
Moving the goal posts I see. Maybe you should express yourself clearer instead of hyperbolizing.
Vampire, Dorfs and E.Y.E. don't belong on the list. The rest seems pretty hipster. Nobody could've actually enjoyed The Witcher gameplay.
*Tips neckbeard*
"If you like something, you don't like it" ~ Sup Forums - Video Games
>Longest Journey
never seen someone defend this game here, it's a shame because I love itbullshit puzzles aside
>System Shock
Sure original release is hard to get into but the enhanced edition makes it more than playable, and it's fucking great better than 2 even
Dude you don't have to justify to me what you like. Everyone can like what they want to like, I mean there are furries out there, its not that bad that you like a shitty game.
But it's pretty fucking shitty alright.
>never played neverhood
>judged
Nothing hipster about it, its a fun kids puzzle game.
This is now a Vampire thread you fucking kine
Dear Reddit
stop making threads
yours
Sup Forums
I don't think pretentious means what you think it means. Spec Ops is definitely pretentious, MGS can come off that way, but the others aren't.
I know, I know. But it still hurts.
I really happen to like that game
>being this triggered
nu-males off Sup Forums
now
Pathologic is a walking simulator with slightly more steps than a game like Dear Esther
That's alright my dude. you know what they say "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" and all.
What are some other games you like?
Imagine having taste this shit
>y-you didn't actually enjoy this game
>stop lying
i really enjoyed la mulana until i hit a part that was borderline impossible to solve without a guide. up till then it was enjoyable going in blind
It also has Oblivion-tier combat. You know, it reminds me of RPGMaker games.
>Planescape torment
>Vampire bloodlines
If you didn't play these (Not badly aged, totally playable with 2017 standards) games already. You should either do it RIGHT NOW or kill yourselves.
Planescape torment is the best CRPG there is. And it's also the one that aged the best of all.
Vampire bloodlines is Deus Ex with vampires and waifus. It was technically ahead of its time which is why it's still pretty good right now.
PLLAAAAAY THEEEEEM
My favourites of all time are half-life, baldur's gate 2, mgs2, ff7 and fear. All games I've played more times than I can count.
Dont post in EYE thread, or i will goombastomp you with my cyberlegs
I did the whole thing in 6 months without a guide, it was a fun kind of hell
What did you get stuck on? I spent weeks trying to find the Wheel of Life, and I never understood the mantra/wedge puzzle and just accidentally solved it
I can understand for the shit games but La-Mulana is good, faggot.
I liked EYE but it is highly overrated here. Is like a 6/10 for me. In 37 hours I experienced everything the game had to offer. Tons of potential there but after that piece of shit Warhammer game I think the devs are done for and a better EYE2 will never happen.
>Neverhood
I've literally never seen anyone talk about this game other than when that shitty spin-off was announced
>game doesnt explain anything
>dude just find out yourself xD
Fuck off.
>bragging about "vidya culture" on a chinese pork bun cooking board
Who would do that?
looks like someone couldn't handle his 3x3 criticism
>including EYE on that list
Nobody on Sup Forums plays EYE so that people think better of their taste. It is a broken game indeed, but it has a lot of stuff that some of us like, and that's it.
>i don't like GAME so i will call a hipster to everyone who does
La-Mulana is horribly flawed in that it is literally impossible to complete without a guide.
True except Vampire Torment and System shock. Those are legitimately great.
nier and undertale and spec ops are all the same shit, playing the meta card always impresses retards
First system shock aged like milk though.
it was the part before eden i think, where you had to scan different walls scattered throughout the temple in a certain order or something. i spent like 2 weeks backtracking, just scouring every inch of the temple and couldn't find anything.
Good bait thread OP
I did the main story without a guide.
It took me 50 hours to do it, I had to use a guide for the hell temple tho
Yeah I agree. But the very first time you experience a META story in a videogame it hits you pretty hard. Undertale/Nier/Specops was probably the first for the majority of their players which is why it stuck with them.
999 still did it the absolute best though. It basically acknowledges the "META card trope" and instead goes meta on the meta which elevates it to a higher level.
There are hints literally everywhere.
It's not like Wizardry where you need the out of game knowledge of one of the developers original do not steal LARP character's weakness to proceed through the game.
I don't understand.
Why and who would pretend to like a video game?
No one got the true ending of La-Mulana without looking up information about it. The solutions to the puzzles are way too obtuse. They're like pre-romhack Simon's Quest tier except 100x as bad.
I think OP saw one of the E.Y.E. threads and just made a lot of assumptions, not realizing that Sup Forums is literally the only place on the internet where people can discuss the game.
OP actually thinks people know what E.Y.E. is off Sup Forums.
Oh yeah that's one of the most confusing parts, I was pretty sure I was interpreting the clues correctly but it took me the longest time to realize I just had to scan the spots
There's a true ending? You mean beating Hell Temple?
