Grenade as a weapon

>grenade as a weapon

>grenade as a hotkey

choose

grenade as a weapon

Hotkey that you can hold to throw further.

Quick nade

Grenade hotkey was a good idea back in Halo and is still a good idea now

It should be forced to be a weapon

This.

Grenade as man.

Depends
In deus ex it makes sense as a weapon since its has a lot of utility.
In a fast paced game like killing floor though it works better as a hotkey because you can react faster.

I'd prefer as a hotkey. It's a useful side-function and I don't want to switch from my weapon every time I need to use it.

There is literally no downside to having grenade as a hotkey, it's quick, it's useful, and most importantly you can use it when you really need it without going through your inventory while keeping your main weapon ready to use in case the grenade was bad.

LAMs are more like mines, really.

both, with additional throwing options as a weapon

It's nice as an inventory item on a separate hotkey from your other weapons/scroll wheel weapon select.

Think about it, you can still hold your weapon with one hand to take a grenade off your belt and throw it right?

So here's an idea, how bad would it be to have guns being hotkeyable? Either hold the key to keep it held out until released, or it just fires on a key press.

That's retarded.

Unless you have a core mechanic that demands constant usage of several different weapons in a battle, it's an awful idea.

might be kind of cool in an 1800s ish setting, mostly melee with a few quickdraw derringers or revolver or something

Hotkey without a doubt

How are you going to pull the pin?

with teeth like in favorite action movie

I fucking hate grenades in video games

They are all useless

Thumb. As demonstrated in countless action movies.

teeth

>not using 1-9 on the keyboard for individual weapons

get cucked consolefags

Stalker has good grenades.

Which is hilarious because half of the guns in the game are dogshit awful. But grenades, those are good and you can get some after the first battle.

>having only 9 weapons in your game

Sounds horrific unless the game is designed around this mechanic.

I have been waiting for this

Pic related has guns on a hotkey, in the same fashion grenades are in Halo/CoD

Good grenades in video games:

>Proximity detonation
>Impact detonation
>Area of effect
>Some flashbangs
>Cookable grenades in multiplayer

Bad grenades in video games:

>Everything else

but what would the alt function do?

One grenade as a weapon
One grenade as Hotkey

Bonus: the weapon one is shit.

Sticky grenades are good too, since it doesn't really matter if they explode instantly if you actually hit the fucker and it lets you stick them to areas people wouldn't normally look to avoid grenades.

mouse 1 throw
mouse 2 precise roll toss

or

mouse 1 throw explosive grenade
mouse 2 sticky grenade toss

You could rip your teeth out trying that, it's not as easy as in movies.

Hotkey, there's practically no game where you're going to be using a grenade as a primary weapon

good thing we're talking video games here, then

Hold to cook>>>hold for distance

actually it's a modern games thing

>he doesn't like cookable grenades in single player

Hotkey is more fun, weapon makes you think more about when to use or not to use it.

>weapon makes you think more about when to use or not to use it
In practice it ends up being never used more often than not.

CoD babby pls go.

I know some modern games have it, I'm saying it's unnecessary

both

Heres a idea based off yours:
You're a gun-mancer, you summon guns of certain types through hotkeys per gun type (Assault rifle, smg, etc.) and can either shoot till the gun is empty, or swap it out for another.

Whole game would just be akin to DmC but with guns, no reloading, discard and resummon, combos through chaining gun-keys.
