The Great Debate

FF7 and Ocarina:
Which one is the most overrated?

neither. op is just a contrarian faggot

Zelda is still playable
FF7 has aged horribly and unplayable at this point.
I feel the lengths people go to defend Zelda is ridiculous so I think OOT is more overrated

neither.
the games dont receive praise like they used to cause everyone thinks they are a savant game critic.
both were and are still excellent.

Majora's Mask is better than Ocarina.
FF6 is better than FF7.

they're both pretty equal.

I can't play OoT anymore because 15fps became too noticable. Menu based combat never got old to me.

OOT is far better. FF7 is turn based and has little action/gameplay/exploration/puzzles

...

FF7 still has unique ideas for its franchise as very few FF games play exactly the same
OoT is the start of a formula that it's followers used over and over and until it got stale
I'd say 7 held up better as a whole experience, and OoT is more overrated, but OoT also did way more for games in terms of technology

why doesnt anyone bring up PDS in OOT vs FF7 debates?

Only one is actually over-rated, and its not Zelda. Nomura is a hack.

ff7 threads:
talk about plot

ocarina threads:
praise nintendo

Bloodborne

>I can't play OoT anymore because 15fps became too noticable
So you prefer the 10fps that FF7 plays at, then?

>comparing turn based to action adventure
good job

Whichever series makes more money.

Ocarina of time is the gateway for casuals and because its nintendo there is an extra layer of autism from people who think video games are socially acceptable

I'm mildly interested to know the numbers but too lazy to actually look it up.

Obviously Final Fantasy.

They have so many more games and they
also generally make more on average.

FF7 was 30 fps overworld and 15 fps in battles.

You mean the PC version faggot.

OoT perfected the ALttP formula and codified the modern action-adventure game.
FF7 was a faggoty pretentious babby's first "deep" story that's only relevant because it was the current gen or manchildren's first/most accessible JRPG despite FF6 and FF9 both being on PSX too.

I like both, but Ocarina gets called the greatest game of all time more often so I guess that one.

nice buzzwords you mong

they're both good games that get picked on purely because they're popular.

the fact that you would promote the piece of shit FF 6 port just tells me that you're a total fucking retard. Also FF IX came out at the tail end of the PS1's life

FF7
>good-looking backgrounds
>awful 3D overworld models (even for the time)
>typical JRPG battle system (i.e. dated)
>typical JRPG story (i.e. shitty, also has the worst love triangle of all time)
>very good OST

OoT
>good 3D for the time
>awful FPS like most N64 games
>decent combat for the time, but dated by modern standards
>unremarkable story
>very good OST

Both are overrated and worse than FF6 and ALttP, but FF7 doesn't have a 99 Metacritic. OoT is the most overrated game of all times

Ocarina.

I dont think a lot of Anons here realize overrated doesnt mean the game is bad. Both of these games frequently get boasted as the greatest game of all time, or as a perfect game.

That said, theyre both good games, but neither one is even the best game in thier series, let alone the greatest game ever.

If I HAD to pick one, Id have to say FF7 as I think OOT has held up a little better over time.

oot on 3ds or n64 bros?

...

Final Fantasy 7 has horrendous graphics.

Do you understand what "playable" means?

PC version.

They both deserve their praise, as far as which one ages better Ocarina of Time's structure is more simple and ages better but later Zelda's run on the same formula and have better gameplay refinements and graphical improvement making it obsolete aside from nostalgia/atmosphere reasons. FF7's character models aged like ass even within its own generation but its unique world (unreplicated even by its own series), use of pre-rendered backgrounds, large scale and great soundtrack meant it and the other PSX + SNES releases never got replaced by later incarnations down the line as the "definite" Final Fantasy game which is why everyone wants them to rehash the atmosphere from that era.

To make another comparison, if Ocarina of Time didn't exist before and was released today with the same exact layout, gameplay and structure but the top of the end graphics (even above what current consoles can handle) it'd have stiff competition in its field. If FF7 got the same treatment it would decimate a lot of its competition in its genre, especially any recent release in its own damn series so I suppose FF7 is less overrated just by the fact its own company went downhill.

FF7 is mediocre
