Boy, I love me some pemmican.

Just started. Map's interesting but kinda fucky, got that river running up the middle, fucktons of marsh, and the bottom is beach and ocean. Still haven't completely decided how I'm going to build it once I start to move beyond living in a shit shack. Also first time playing modded and I've got Rimjobworld, Lovecraft monsters, Lovecraft cults, Psychology, and Hospitality running. General plan is to make a cultist lair and go hostile to all factions on the planet and capture as many people as possible, sacrificing the men to our god and keeping the women as sex slaves and only trading with ships.

Roughly enough pemmican to travel a week on the world map. If only they had some automatic hunting/foraging rules while traveling.

Masterwork DF I think is probably the best for sheer content and changes once you're tired of vanilla. Kobold Camp is pretty cool too

Masterwork DF is THE mod
There are lots of others, just check on their forums for something that you would like.
In my opinion the game has so much content and stuff to do that mods arent that needed.

DF isn't a game. It's more of a sim where you watch things happen. All you do is make toys and you have infinite money to get anything so you can just watch. The only way to make the thing hard is to purposely limit yourself. There haven't been meaningful updates in forever. For example, dwarvern economy would've been an actual feature and might've made DF a game, but I suppose it's more important to add FPS destroying bloat and vampires.

Toady is too focused on adding sim stuff that's not actually very fun around to play with, and has been sterilizing the core gameplay for a while now
DF will always have magnitudes more depth, but RW is the more coherent experience
