It makes riding in any vehicle awkward when you constantly have to keep releasing or tapping the button or else you'll keep accelerating to top speed.
I still beat that version anyway and got the completion rate up to around 70%. Even got all Golds in the Motorcycle and Flight schools. But screw getting the Driving school's gold medals without being able to control your speed better.

You could, but in my experience, every NPC you run into on the road is already standing outside of their car ready to shoot you. This is especially hilarious when they spawn with an RPG

I think most people who say they prefer San Andreas to V are just failing to see the big picture honestly
like, generally when people talk about San Andreas being better they'll name off a list of features (e.g. basketball, graffiti, gambling etc) and proclaim it's better than V because of it. like, they'll only recognize the quantity of features/missions rather than actually stepping back and judging the overall execution and presentation.
i've used this example before but, to me, San Andreas is like a toy lego replica of Los Angeles with cheap, poorly acted puppets as characters - and GTA V IS Los Angeles, and the characters you're playing are 100% authentic. like in terms of physics, pedestrian counts, atmosphere, the way it feels to drive cars, the actual SCOPE of the game and the quality of acting/dialogue/directing etc GTA V is such a huge fucking leap it's incredible. yet people are so hung up on arbitrary lists of features and "three cities!" that they just can't recognize how big of a milestone the game actually was.

San Andreas comes off like some sort of amateurish school play and GTA V feels like a blockbuster film, this applies not just to cutscenes but to the entire presentation of the game, the way it feels, the way characters move, just riding a bike down the fucking street.. It's like comparing a YouTube sci-fi short film to fucking 2001: a space odyssey. It's just not even in the same league and I don't even understand why there's a debate on this subject. I can sorta understand the GTA IV vs V argument but not this.

It's more complicated than that, it's about physics, movement, scope, quality of dialogue, quality of actual gameplay etc.
San Andreas might have features V doesn't but V's features are far more polished and so is its world. That's the point i'm trying to make, quality over quantity.

Vice City is a fan favourite though and we've gotten LC and SA in HD so it's long overdue for VC
I think it depends on the game, but I feel like for something like GTA (a game aiming for atmosphere and realism) graphics totally matter. The point of GTA, above all else, above gunplay and stealing cars and even story, is to submerge the player in a believable urban environment. So for something like that I think graphics matter a lot, but I think we're almost at a point of diminishing returns as far as realism goes.
Even for games with cartoony art styles graphics matter to an extent though, look at The Witness for example. game wouldn't have been as good if it were made 10 years earlier, period.

The thing is that quantity is what makes San Andreas fun. Obviously a game 9 years later has better presentation and physics but that doesn't necessarily make them better and more fun, that just leaves you with a hole from where content in the games that came before it used to be.
