The World Ends with You is 10 years old
what do you think about the game? the mobile port? would you play a sequel? what system should a sequel be for?
TWEWY 10th Anniversary
>would you play a sequel? what system should a sequel be for?
:^)
TWEWY Master Post with game, resource and music downloads
For anyone who doesn't know, JYONGRI just opened a Youtube channel two weeks ago. She's uploading one brand new song every week to drum up support for it.
Was this really game really just loved in the west?
Do nips have shit taste as usual?
From what we know, yeah. Huge success globally compared to warm reception in Japan.
>what do you think about the game?
One of my favorite games of all time
>The mobile port?
Never played it; didn't see a need to
>Would you play a sequel?
Probably. I'd be a bit turned off if they added onto the story for the original cast, though, since I think they're stories ended
>What system should a sequel be for?
Well 3DS is my first choice but Nintendo claimed that the Switch is the new handheld so I'm not really sure. Without radically changing how things work I don't think it would play the same on the Switch unless you required online multiplayer for a second partner?
I have a pet project that I work on in my free time that's kind of TWEWY-inspired. I didn't realize just how much I was drawing from it before now, but I kind of had an epiphany when I saw the last thread so I think I'm going to retool a few things and really draw even more inspiration from it.
I don't think a sequel is necessary. It's been too long. We should have been on the 5th game already.
>what do you think about the game?
It along with Ghost Trick are two of the best games I've ever played and easily among the best on the DS.
>would you play a sequel?
Yes, obviously, but I would prefer one that isn't with this cast. Use the same mechanics and stuff but do an entirely new story. I feel like TWEWY's story wraps up nicely with a hopeful move forward and like that a lot of character arcs were fully completed in it.
>what system should a sequel be for?
3DS but if that system is dead just do it on switch and do some shit with having the two sides of the pad control you / your partners.
The Switch has a touch screen so honestly the gameplay could work exactly the same
I don't know how stable the Switch is holding it with one hand though
I can imagine a mechanic where you use one of the joycons to swipe between the different battlefields like you do for screens on your phone
I'd like to see one that uses the breadth of joycon motion controls in lieu of touch input
CALLING
>motion controls
...
>unironically wanting forced motion controls
Just keep it at one joycon per fighter. Or maybe sticks/buttons if you really want the asymmetrical controls.
>Nintendo claimed that the Switch is the new handheld
Except Nintendo specifically avoided saying that
I liked it. I would have played a sequel years ago. But SE (As usual) dropped the ball.
Happy 10th anniversary.
Not impossible but not great.
Having either joycon in would work for both left and right handed players like the original tho
wouldn't touch only game play mean you can't play properly on tv?
that is the second glaring issue, yes, though it wouldn't be the first game on the platform to be touch-only
It wouldn't be the first time. VOEZ was ported to Switch and it exclusively uses the touch screen.
Overrated trash for angsty teens
Post your pin combos.
No God Pins.
if they do make a game for the switch, i would wanna play it on the tv. they came up with a good battle system for the ds, i'm sure they can do it for a traditional control scheme
Yeah I'd hope so too. Find a way to incorporate everything the Switch can do, just like the design motive for the original game was with the DS.
>Having a Healing Pin at all
TWEWY will play ADX of higher sample rates than the original without issue but i don't know how to loop music and if there's no loop points it stops after playing once
cutscene audio is easily substituted with its solo remix counterparts since it doesn't need to loop and just werks
...
>unironically wanting forced touchscreen controls
If they can't make it good they shouldn't do it, but they made something amazing using the touchscreen, better than anything else I've played on one. So if anyone can make motion controls good it's them
Reminder that if Joshua hadn't threatened to destroy Shibuya, Kitaniji would have never tried to enslave it. Happy 10th year anniversary of Joshua being an asshole.
what would you give up Sup Forums in order to play the reaper's game
Yeah, just run two Teleport Warnings and keep Neku invisible whenever you're playing top screen
>You will never use Switch Joycon magic to feel Shiki's hip bones
Does it create a logic paradox if my entry fee is The World Ends with You?
Probably my PC
Would it be possible to put the hi res shit like the music from the mobile port in the DS rom?
Willingly or due to what I value most?
All of my porn would be fucking gone.
>having a healing pin that isn't the fish bowl
>not using lightning rook
>what do you think about the game?
Loved it. One of my first DS games.
>the mobile port?
Haven't really played it much, actually.
>would you play a sequel?
That would depend entirely on how it's handled. I'm not sure how much more they could do with the Shibuya Underground or any of the existing characters, but it might be nice to see what they could pull off.
>what system should a sequel be for?
It worked well on the DS, so 3DS would probably be fine.
willingly, internet access
unwillingly, my hand-eye coordination
didn't really like it, the gameplay was cool but it has one of the worst protagonists i've ever seen in a video game. i stopped playing fairly early on because i hated him so much that i didn't care if he died or not
>If they can't make it good they shouldn't do it
You can't make motion controls good.
Equating it to touchscreens is fallacious because the input method cannot be more different.
...
KH3 World
Explain why people like this game to me.
no
its fun
Soundtrack, gameplay, aesthetics, story
Basically everything
>cool gameplay
>original concept
>great story
>great music
>great art
What's not to like
the game has a sense of style
protagonist is a relatable edgelord who learns to not be an edgelord
gameplay is actually hard to master
music is good, if a bit repetitive on the DS version
post-game is amazingly well designed except for pin evolutions
After DDD, it would take some serious fanfiction-tier retconning to make it work so probably
I mean technically they've never really met the TWEWY cast so they can reuse the game story from point one if they wanted to.
>After DDD, it would take some serious fanfiction-tier retconning to make it work
They aren't native to Traverse Town, Joshua took them there when their world was destroyed.
Then they leave after the second visit, and Neku says "See you in Shibuya"
QUIT HOGGIN EM
IM DIGGING IT
QUIT HOGGIN EM
QUIT HOGGIN EM
QUIT HOGGIN EM
YO MAN WE IN TROUB-RHYYYYYYYYYYME
The main character being a cunt and learning not to be is literally a major focus of the game. If you stopped early you missed out on him turning into a decent person
i haven't finished DDD yet this explains so much
>this is a 20 year old.
How?
Its still strange if it really exists in the same multiverse, isnt the top angels like... godlike beings?
Why the fuck dont they fix shit up.
...
noice, can you post the cutscene version?
working on it. i started on it like a year ago but my hard drive died so i have to start over. so far just downloaded solo remix cutscenes and demuxed the audio, next i have to go get the microSD i keep all my DS games on which is in my wii u because i make bad life decisions.
The TWEWY crew only exists within KH as a dream right now.
Even if they did exist for real though, there are explicit rules about how non-keyblade users can't go from world to world.
You could argue that the reason we've never been to Shibuya is because the angels DO fix this shit, but only within their own world.
I had a setup kinda like that at one point, but then I got lazy.
All three Cat for muh speed
Lazy Bomb
Cornix (eight uses boulder x5)
Peace Full (Healz)
It didn't work well on the secret boss, but for anything that stood relatively still you could just spam the shit out of it.
also you should ask the guys that did the undub about the music loop thingy.
or ask in gbatemp or something
Also, the hi res graphics work?
i don't think high res graphics are gonna happen, or would even look very good on a DS.
Assholes... thats expected i guess.
hey senpaitachi toss me some flac ost links that aren't on ffshrine
Bless your soul
i did not realize the filter was that comprehensive
I'd rather have two Joycons controling each player
You can even hand it to a friend to control the other player
Which reminds me that I was having trouble with ENJOY THE MOMENT so I asked a friend to play as the partner for me, it was really awkward but we managed to win.
>After DDD, it would take some serious fanfiction-tier retconning to make it work
>retconning
how the fuck would it be retconning. at the end of the Traverse Town world neku and the gang go back home and Neku literally says "See you in Shibuya" and Sora nods. How will they have to retcon anything? If anything they were setting everything up so a Shibuya world is possible.
now if i just do this 37 more times
>the game has a sense of style
Honestly this is what i liked the most, although i can see that style not being attractive to some.
Also fuck you guys, i can't stop listening to the ost again.youtube.com
i dont speak moon, can you tell me what im looking at?
an ADX encoder, which is in moon because it was made by moonpeople.
I should really replay this. I spent a year looking for this but couldn't find it until my friend lent me his copy 5-6 years later down the line
ooparts is the best song
I really like Deja Vu, along with Transformation. Then again, just about all the battle themes are good.
Let me shout and wake you up
Let me wake you up
We should've had Rhyme as a partner. Dunno how they'd fit it in exactly but I still wanted it.
When I first played the game, I fully expected it. a week dedicated to each person.
>tfw TWEWY is one of your favorite games and will never get a sequel
the pain is enough to drive me to severe depression
I'm torn on this. On one hand i do want a sequel but on the other hand it's modern SE we're talking about so who knows how they'd fuck it up.
>it's been a decade already
Someone kill that asshole Father Time already.
Anyways, TWEWY is an All Time Top 3 for me, so fuck Squenix for not shelling out for a sequel
Thanks user, the end credits with Lullaby for You is one of the most memorable moments I've ever had with a game, and I've become a fan of hers since.
it's only been 10 years, it really hasn't been too long, has it? wasn't nomura responsible for most of it?
Nomura was a producer and artist, but otherwise he had little to do with the game.
Hashimoto was also producing. Directed by Tatsuya Kando, Tomohiro Hasegawa, Testuro Hosokawa. Written by Sachie Hirano.
It was a collaborative development with Jupiter.
How much of SE is to blame for Nier Automata?
Even without wada I don't think SE is getting any better or less reliant on Kingdom hearts.
In fact I think it's getting worse.
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of TWEWY, there's a new Neku Medal in KHuX, which includes a brand new 'TWISTER -UNION Chi MIX-' BGM
I'd have to give up my ability to relax and sleep which would be hell and probably motivate me to win
I'm still angry about the 'announcement'.
>tfw Nomura is the only person at Square that still cares about TWEWY
>only thing he can do is give us a new remix and a medal in an outsourced mobage
NEVER EVER
Fuck Square
>I'll take solace I can from that
>Twiright Town
>I don't know if I can, it still there
Oh no
On one hand, fuck this
On the other hand, holy shit it's MORE THAN NOTHING AT ALL
Maybe we'll get something for the 15th anniversary.
R-right?
...
Game is fucking gutter trash. Not sure why you fags hype it up so much here. Got 12 hours in and literally nothing has happened and the Gameplay isn't even all that great. Sup Forums strikes again with their shit taste and shilling.
how long is it gonna take for someone to rip this shit
>Got 12 hours in and literally nothing has happened
Did you just sit in the menu for 12 hours or some shit? The game's only like 20-25 hours long
