Name me one game where the protagonist didn't need to have a tragic past to become a hero. No dead, long lost, or disabled parents/siblings, and there is has to be some confirmation in the game that they're alive and well, and that the protagonist is on good terms with them. No sports shit or anything of that sort. Name me one game like this and I'll give you permission to save a funny picture of gif that I will provide for your enjoyment.

Wii Play
Pokémon RSE
I think Yu from Persona 4 fits that criteria. He lived in Inaba for a year because his parents had work related stuff to do to where they needed him to live with his uncle. He was ready to go back after the year was up. From what it seems like too, nothing tragic happened until the killings in Inaba started, but that's not connected to his past.
Duke Nukem, he is just saying girls slavery because it is the right thing
>not putting "mama mia" on the tombstone instead
wasted potential
This
Skies of Arcadia.
Megaman Battle Network
Megaman is actually Lan's dead twin, but Lan never knew he had a twin until the reveal so it's all good.
Kingdom Hearts.
Commander Shepard.
One of his background could include having his family being alive, you can even call his mom in one of the DLCs
You do sort of have to save Vyse's old man and his merry band of misfits fairly early on though. Forgetting the old 'save your loved ones' trope was surely a mere oversight on OP's part.
P5 MC counts too
>You do sort of have to save Vyse's old man and his merry band of misfits fairly early on though.
Yeah. And everything goes super. Any other game would have had them get killed or some shit
Earthbound
>there is has to be some confirmation in the game that they're alive and well, and that the protagonist is on good terms with them.
This is the ridiculous part, because it makes the first part unnecessary.
If someone has all that, of course he does not have tragically dead parents syndrome.
Also, Mass Effect.
>starts thread with an image of Mario.
>asks anons to provide one example of a non-edgy protag.
Mario.
unironically dark souls
>wake up in jail as a god damn undead
>kill all the bad things because someone has to do it
Overlord 2
Witcher
Psychonauts
Remember me
Metro
Pokemon
>he doesn't know the lore
Street Fighter 2
Our karate hobo just wants to duke it out and have a good time.
Oh boy, here we go.

...
Yoshi's family is alive and well and they carry Mario together through the islands
>Metro
???
Cranky killed Jumpman (Mario's father)
And the Donkey Kong and Mario we see in the games nowadays are actually Donkey Kong the 3rd (Jr.'s son) and Mario Mario Jr.
super mario
>Jumpman (Mario's father)
Mario is Jumpman, dumbo
Cranky is the original Donkey Kong, which is why he's old and busted
Unless Mario is immortal, Mario can't be Jumpman
Never finished SoA but Vyse had a Mom and I'm pretty sure Vyse's dad didn't die even after you saved him from being executed.
almost every dragon quest games
Cream the Rabbit
>distant father
>no real friends
Literally Kirby. No family or anything but always decides to do the right thing because Kirby is always good. Not sports either.
God Hand. Gene's just a drifter who tries to help someome out, and things escalate from there.
That face is hiding some deep shit
>Witcher
Fucking WHAT? Geralt is in "good terms" with his parents? And I mean his ACTUAL parents, him having a father figure doesn't mean a thing when he always knew he was abandoned.
>Psychonauts
Are you joking? He patches up with his father, but the final boss is the PSYCHIC MANIFESTATION of his perception of him.
Being framed is a tragic past, user
>Gets hot bitches out of it
It's not that bad
Clinging to ones parents is the ultimate beta thing to do. Thats why the hero never does that and has no need for parents. So basically, if you do this in real life, you arent even the main protag in your game of life.
