I hate it. It's really obvious sometimes, when you look at it and it's clear the artist can only draw one body-type and just pastes it all over when it makes no sense.

Don't care for "tumblr" art of any kind. Since most of them only do it because they feel threatened by the original work and make wild claims that their art is better or that the original is degenerative.

Well, granted Hex Maniac's official art is pretty small chested, she's part of a trainer class, so there are multiple 'Hex Maniacs' out there. A better example would be May and how people tend to draw fanart of her with similar tits to what you posted.

Disappointed mostly. Of all the myriad things people can make using their talents, porn is like the bottom of the barrel, and off-model porn is just "why are you even bothering using that character at this point".

It's one thing if an artist wants to have their own interpretation of a character but sometimes I see artists draw characters, like say Peach to name an example, so utterly different from the official art I'm just wondering why bother then

is the issue I have with the OP. Artists have creative freedom, and are within their right to draw characters as they see fit. Some artists enjoy drawing lewds, others enjoy drawing historically accurate portrayals, and others still draw things like rule 63 stuff. There is nothing wrong with any of that.

You can't expect someone other than the original artist to be completely accurate to the character design. Besides, deviations in characteristics are fine if the art is done in a different style or to fulfill a different objective and those changes are deliberate in order to make it fit into that

That's not true at all. It's really easy to imitate someone else's style if you have any fundamental art skill, especially with practice. There are tons of artists that are known for making characters look almost official. The manga author for Dragonball Super, for example, who was picked up due to his doujins looking official.

Tons of hentai artists too, like Okazaki Takeshi, syow-maru, or Skirt Tsuki.

On one hand it's not so bad if the art exaggerates a character's traits a bit (like the shape of Garnet's butt), though I can understand the dislike of things that are extremely overdone (like May having tits bigger than her head; they look nice, but it's completely against her actual look).

What's important is that they're recognizable.

Whether the character remains recognizable to you depends on how good your visual memory is, whether you have an accurate pictuer of the character in your head, or whether all you need to recognize them is something like distinct clothing and the general idea.

Of course if the entire point of the art is to draw them intentionally differently, then that's a different story, like with:
