I thought this was supposed to be the year of VR? Seems like theres been no interest since January.

It's not getting bigger because most games are just tests basically, there are barely any good ones. Only 2 good ones I can think of are Gorn and RE7.
Lone Echo's like a full on AAA-tier video game that even makes really good use of the motion controls.
Well, PSVR is doing pretty well and it got a few quite a good games.
Plus it is cheapest option of all three big VR solutions.
VR is a flop, which is what many of us have been saying for years. No one who bought expensive VR setups plays regularly and hardly any play at all anymore. The 'games' are terrible, the accessories are clunky and uncomfortable, and all interest and hype have completely died off.
But steam is still working on new VR hardware, so clearly, there is still a market.
There is some, just not a whole lot.
JOI vids in VR are god tier, but most of them are done by small indie producers that don't have the equipment or knowledge to record in 180/360 stereo yet.
JOI videos are so low in quality in the first place. I can't even imagine how horrific it would be in VR being made by people who have absolutely no idea how to work the tech or appeal to their audience in a compelling way.
Sounds like you aren't paying attention. Hype has been at an all time high since the Oculus Rift sale.
What? Rifts sold out everywhere for like a month from the sale. They probably doubled their overall sales in 2 months.
Robo Recall, Super Hot, Chronos, Echo Arena, Lone Echo, Elite Dangerous are all pretty big. There's also many more.
Alien Isolation has a VR mod now, HL2 is about to get one that uses the touch controllers.
Smaller games such as Thumper and Rez infinite are many times better in VR.
Also, Dolphin VR is incredible as well.
Mate, I found a thread on a porn pirate website that has 122 pages with 15 posts each of VR porn scenes (1830 scenes), and that isn't even remotely close to all of them.
>Hype has been at an all time high
you'd know if there is hype if theres hundreds of threads on Sup Forums saying it'll flop
Fuck right off with your repulsive 3D shit.
Are you fukin' dumb?

Anyone else own a PSVR? I'm having fun with mine.

BRB going to buy 4 sets of VR headsets right now
The trouble on the porn front is that its almost all generic garbage. Did KinkVR ever expand past an experiment? I'm curois about the JOI, though, of which I've seen none. That too is mostly generic garbage, VR or not, though.
Yeah and the vr in re7 makes the game 1000000 times worse
Rifts sold out on Amazon and Oculus store, not "everywhere". Best Buy was on stock for weeks after the sale started. They even still had fuckloads of free Eve Valkyrie keys to give out, a deal Oculus stopped supporting earlier this year. Newegg too.
Still too expensive to appeal to the mainstream and it lacks a decent amount of games worth playing.
Try again in about 3-5 years when the technology is wireless, cheaper and starts getting actual games.
Source? I got mine from NewEgg and there was no free game, and it also sold out right after I placed my order.
Best Buy's website was also sold out for days.
Hardware is still cost prohibitive
The hardware is also rather bulky/uncomfortable to use for extended periods of time
a lot of the programs require you to have a good amount of space in your room to move around in
Also needs a fairly decent computer to run it well
Most of the games out there are basically tech demos
The few that are full games have a problem with poor interface/controls
Right now it's just basically a novelty that's following the same popularity rise and fall as 3D did a few years back.
Having fun with mine too, especially with Farpoint + Aim. Also considering to buy a racing rig just to play dirt rally, but a part of me wants to hold it off due to pc vr is better when it comes to sim racing.
I got mine from Best Buy last week. Free 2 day shipping too, so I got it sooner than some of the folks who ordered from Amazon in the first week of the sale.
Plus it was the old bundle which includes the xbone controller, the newer ones being sent out by Oculus don't have the controller anymore
You can really tell you haven't even tried it. Modern headsets aren't uncomfortable at all, you only need space to move your arms (my room is tiny and I've played room scale games no problem with only the space my computer chair takes up),and I just don't know what poor interface and controls you're talking about.
3D was never popular, and for good reason because it was absolutely fucking shit and had no practical applications.
VR is completely different and has very practical applications and will never die. Also porn.
PSVR should work with PC using Trinus or whatever it's called, and practically any USB or Blutooth wheel is going to work on PC too.
I have tried it though at a friends house.
The headset was uncomfortable but that might have been just an issue for me.
Any game that lets you move around by walking requires a decent amount of space to do so.
The poor interface/controls I was talking about was referencing moving around in a game I don't remember the name of (I was in a dungeon of some sort and fought some spoopy skeletons) you had to click a button to move forward which just got annoying quickly. I saw the same movement method when they were showing off the Doom VR at E3 this year. I just didn't enjoy that movement style.
The main issue with the current tech is the poor resolution, it's just not enough...
Can't you use a controller to move and headset to walk?
Many intuitive control schemes simply don't translate well into VR because it causes nauseousness in most people. Which is why a "click to teleport" function has been adopted in a lot of games to prevent that from happening.
Bullshit, I've already seen VR vore porn. Still waiting for the price to drop for the frugal fap.
Seems most people have shitty body's and shouldn't play VR.
Rub two coins together in front of your nose so the scent of zinc fills your nostrils as you ejaculate all over the pile of pennies you have in your bedroom you broke piece of shit.
Nice projecting.
I was actually mimicking one of my favorite JOI videos where the girl spent the entire video berating the guy who commissioned it for spending so little money on it.
It's funny that is a thing.
Thanks for beta testing, chumps.
Looking forwrd to 2nd gen headsets.
Seems too expensive. Is $15 for Google cardboard worth it for 5 minutes of novelty of shaking my head around at stuff before putting it away and waiting for someone to make good VR five years from now?
>Can't afford first gen
>Thinks he'll afford second
I'll keep enjoying my PSVR and HTC Vive, and the second gen of VR the moment it comes out.
I've said this for years and I will say it again because it continues to be true.
It needs to be wireless. It needs to be cheaper. It needs to have a decent library of full featured, high quality games. It would also be nice if it was smaller and lighter weight and if it didn't make your eyes sweat and turn your face red from the stuffy- fabric or rubber lined seal that it puts on your face.
I'll consider it in about 3-5 years when these goals are achieved.
