How does that even work?

A bad miscarriage, as was the case with Ginchiyo, can potentially render someone infertile. Add shonky 1600s medicine on top of this and you could lose your child-bearing abilities without a lot of hassle.

The whole thing with the Tachibanas was very sad, but actually adds quite a clever touch when you hear Okatsu talking about samurai pseudo-honour later on in the game. Never thought Team Ninja of all studios would tackle such a dark subject in a quite mature way.

Nah, that was something made up for the game. It was done because they needed justification for the Tachibana clan not allying themselves with Ieyasu (Which is true to real-life), but they still had to present them as good guys, as they are in just about all historical fiction.

But her mother, Lady Tsukiyama, deserves it for getting executed, historically she is a nagging amd histerical women, always dotting to Nobuyasu. She crossed the line when she decides to marry him with a girl from their enemy, the Takeda, just because his current wife couldn't bear any children. His wife is understandably pissed off at this and report it to her father, Oda Nobunaga. Then Nobunaga confront Ieyasu regarding this matter, suspect him in league with the Takeda. Ieyasu have no choice but to execute his wife and son to prove his loyality and prevent the rest of his clan getting annihilated by the powerful Oda.

That's the story behind Nobunaga forcing Ieyasu to execute his wife and son? I always thought it was just Nobunaga being a dick again.
