Is it really deserving of the title "best Castlemania ever"?
Is it really deserving of the title "best Castlemania ever"?
I liked OoE more. Come to think of it I liked all of the DS games more. AoS is pretty damn good though and I could see why people would pick it as their favorite.
No, that's why it's the second best after SotN.
No, SoTN is the best.
Fuck no.
>but what about SotN
No.
>castlevania is dead
why don't they make them anymore ? all we get are kickstarter jewbaits hyped by tumblr kids.
Because you're fucking blind and can't see all the fangames and homagegames around you.
I don't care about gay funded shit for little gay boys
>fangames and homagegames
Hope you're not talking about FOTM bores like Hollow Knight, because shit like that only has Metroidvania in name because it exemplifies all the WORST aspects (i.e. passageways locked off because of some mundane shit like a slightly higher cliff, endless backtracking for pitiful payoffs, etc.).
Guess what, that's what castlemanias are.
CotM > AoS > HoD
db8 me
Cotm was very solid but the boss fights were forgettable and too easy.
Hourly Hollow Shill
>tfw you dislike HK
>get called a memer
CotM had the hardest boss fights of all three though.
>already played the CV games I want to play
>no other series has that atmosphere or music quality
>most games that try to ape these games use bullet sponge enemies
>other's don't have that snappy combat
What even is there?
>Konami's on a roll with GBA and then DS games
>IGA can do no wrong in their eyes
>They give him a big budget and apparently little/no supervision
>Judgment happens
>MercurySteam pitches a GoW clone to Konami
>Kojima decides it should have a thin veneer of Castlevania and as VP with a flagship title and Kojima Productions he can do that
>3 Lords of Shadow games happen
You'd best pray that Bloodstained is good and Konami gets their shit together for the inevitable Castlevania game that people will want because of the show. I guess while you're at it you'd better hope that MercurySteam is on the ball because with Samus Returns coming out soon it wouldn't surprise me if they ended up developing the next CV.
The first guy was right and if you're thirsty you should look into fangames like Lecarde Chronicles or similar games like Shadow Complex.
it's either this or SOTN, the other castlevania just don't have as much content, i'd argue that SOTN has the edge over the fact that it's not a GBA game
In my opinion yes, but SotN still has a bit of an edge in some categories by being on a home console.
I really hope that game Igarashi is working on doesn't end up being shit.
classicvania > metroidvania
...
post the Hod walking sprite if you have it
...
Because the IP is obviously creatively bankrupt? Pic related is a crowdfunded game despised by tumblr. Meanwhile Bloodstained is going to come from Iga himself and going to be just as much of a cheap rehash as MN9. Game franchises die when they fail to evolve or remain relevant.
>bloodstained
>good
It's gonna be a low-tier castleroid at best and a trainwreck at worst.
Inti isn't even working on it anymore (save for the extra side-game) and I haven't even heard of the replacement devteam when they were announced.
>tfw no remake of AoS with full control scheme
Way to be optimistic user.
You know what I actually hoped Sword vs Whip was going to be? This is crazy, but bear with me.
A fucking team-battle game where you choose a sword or whip to take down the other team. Different movesets and skills to utilize the environment and/or your enemies based on which you choose. Probably has different modes like free-for-all, capture the flag, grab all the foods, etc. Man it could have been crazy as shit too. You could use the whip to swing around off of stuff like chandeliers, hooks, and so on or maybe grab an enemy and slam them or throw them into another enemy. Swords would be a bit more limited in terms of environmental manipulation, but maybe could do things like cut ropes (let's assume whips are unbreakable, but both swords and whips can (somehow) parry each other) in order to set off traps or cause destruction (such as a rope bridge collapsing) but also allow you to do more offense-oriented skills like a diving slash (similar to the diving kick after a double jump). Whips have more range, but are a little slow and swords have less range but can strike faster (not too much faster though). Attack values might need adjusting though, but if you had different types of swords and whips (such as a combat knife or flame whip) to mix stats up even further, there could be potential for some real interesting matches.
Or hell, maybe you can use both a sword and a whip (one with each hand, or maybe TWO swords or TWO whips) to allow for mixing of what I just mentioned or taking each aspect even further than I thought.
From what I've seen so far, I'm not very hopeful.
And that's not just because demo rooms were empty and there was no music. There's other warning signs that are making me wary.
Don't get me wrong I'm in the same boat but I'm confident that the game will be decent and that's all I really need.
The thing we need to save Castlevania is a console metroidvania, like SotN, but improved in every way due to hardware.
Sometimes, more IS more.
...
I liked this game with the touch gimmick and horrible portraits removed, but there's still some problems. Everything feels slowed down compared to Aria and SOTN, with the larger weapons really feeling really sluggish. There's also basically no weapons you can find in the environment anymore, making you use Yoko's shop. That made exploration feel appreciably less rewarding than previous titles as there was simply less to find overall. The soul system was taken to new heights, but the drop rate on them felt pretty bad, particularly when you would sometimes need to grind two of them in order to have one to keep and one for a weapon infusion.
Still a good game. People don't talk about it enough.
the virgin walk
the chad stride
what game is this?
That's the bare minimum for what they are, not what makes the best ones great
Don't make me pull out a food analogy for this
Looks like order of ecclesia
>demo rooms were empty and there was no music
But there is music.
I think it's harmony of despair
August 21, 2017 is somacruz birth holy shit
I've been playing Dawn of Sorrow a lot lately, apart from the character art it seems just as good. Is Julius mode even in AoS and if it is is it filled with as much content?
No.
I bet you think Yoshi's Island is better than Super Mario World.
It is, but while you don't have as many characters, Julius is way stronger in aria.
